Up front, massive massive resptect for Tomac. Im an Aussie. Any rider dedicated to such longevity of success at elite level from any country deserves the utmost respect and admiration from any motosport athlete, past, present and future....
Jett, is using Tomac detetmination to beat him as motivational fuel. Its bringing uot the best of Jett to entertain us. This isnt about nationality, or perochial chest beating, as mx is all about universal mano o mano.
Im loving it. I hope all riders stay healthy and motivated for the whole series.
Poll
Nah I think Jett was trying everything to keep Eli in beast mode at bay, and he did
These types of posts often don’t age well
Tomac is using Jett as motivation and will bag a win soon.
Nah, Jett was giving it his best. But I think he could find an extra gear if Tomac got close..
Like we seen.

I don’t think Jett was toying with Tomac, but I’m 100% sure that if Tomac had made the pass, Jett would have gotten him back. Tomac did have one good line over Jett where he made up a lot of time. If Jett noticed that, it probably wouldn’t even be a battle for the lead anymore.
I don’t think either one of them was giving less than 100%. They put something like 30 seconds on third place.
I agree. I think Jett was just trying to manage the gap to Tomac, respond to Tomac’s bursts of speed and manage his own pace, heart rate etc while riding about as fast as it is physically possible to ride.
Fantastic racing.
No.
Jett in tears at the end of last week showed how much pressure he was under. He didn’t know if he could still do it. The tears were tears of relief.
No way he was toying with him. They were both right on the edge of what they could safely do.
Everytime Eli got near Jett he pushed a bit harder to stay ahead. But if he tried doing that for a whole moto he probably crashes or runs out of energy.
I’ve always said, Jett’s 90% speed is up there with everyone else’s 95-100% speed, but for him to access the last 10% or so, his risk factor goes up substantially compared to someone like Tomac. Jett’s biggest “flaw” is being so smooth he doesn’t look like he’s even trying, much like Windham.
I think if it wasn’t Pala and a one lined shit hole, Tomac passes him and checks out. If you ask me, Jett was holding him up. You don’t sit behind someone for 30 minutes on a one lined track and not fall into their pace. Obviously that’s just moto 2. Tomac didn’t have anything for him in moto1.
Well, the last 4 laps of the moto Eli got lot of air in front of him to go faster if he wanted to.
It’s pretty clear once he got hung up by lappers he just mailed it in. There was almost no way around once they got into lappers. Not enough lines.
Jett broke down after the battle. Good actor if he was toying with someone. Probably a third career path in the making if you’re right
Just look at Eli’s riding the whole moto, he was on the edge, and nothing that day time wise in Quali, first or second moto suggest that Eli would have passed and gapped Jett.
If he had the speed, he would have made it happen just like Haiden could pass riders on his way to the top.
Yep, He was upset that he coulda stayed at the gala a few more hours after all
Jett was toying with no one. He was gassed after that race, just look at the expressions of each of them immediately after the race. Eli looked pretty fresh. That was with mild temperatures. We'll see how everyone holds up at 100F today during moto #2.
Eli and Jett have completely different riding styles but both are 100% on rails. Jett just looks so relaxed the entire time and rides a gear high, but that man is absolutely pushing his physical and mental limits. Eli looks absolutely fucking torqued the entire time, rides the bike wide ass open and is in the exact same physical and mental state as Jett.
Pit Row
In my opinion that’s comparing two different riding styles. Jett is smooth. Eli hammers everything. Jett had the preferred lines which required Eli to take some bad lines to try to get by. There really wasn’t many passing options. If you compare lap times, it’s pretty impressive by both guys. You can see both guys were making mistakes. They literally swapped who was faster lap after lap. I don’t think we have seen Jett get pushed that far in moto. If Tomac managed to get by there’s a chance Jett gets him back , we will never know.
You can’t compare Haiden passing the 250 class to Eli trying to get around Jett. Not even the same. No one was on Haiden’s level at Pala.
I wish I could have ticked 2 of the boxes - The No, and, the "You're just a Crazy Aussie, Shut Up" . And I'm an Antipodean ( but Not a Dastardly Kiwi - I'm No Bounder or Cad! Though, I admit to being a bit of a Bastard - especially towards Kiwis 😁 - we Luvs Yuz, Kiwis! ) .
All I hope for, is a season of superb Battles. Between those two, and the other riders.
The series could end in an instant, for either of them - as it has done before - and, all the others.
The OPs posting, seems just like someone wanting to start the infantile BS we see so much of here, basically.
Give it a few hours
Toying no. A tiny bit faster, yes.
Jett has more class and respect for Eli.
It’s really hard to say that jett wasn’t holding him up on a very difficult to pass track….Eli was on his wheel for like 30 minutes (he’d drop back a couple of seconds and then bring it back)…that doesn’t happen when the rider in front is faster…last two laps, with lappers and the pass having no affect on the overall Tomac let him go…managing a gap of less than 2 seconds doesn’t seem like a thing…managing a 5 second gap maybe…
I think they are very close in speed…close enough that eli couldn’t take a slower line to pass him…and that difference is largely line choice, and bike set up (jets bike looked way better than Eli’s at Pala)….so either of them could win any moto…
What’s confusing is how Eli gapped 3rd by 30 seconds the 2nd moto, but could only get to 4th the first?
thanks for letting us know you're an aussie
If you're toying with someone, it doesn't usually result in you breaking down emotionally after the moto ends.
If Eli had more speed, why didn’t he unleash it in practice, qualifying or either moto?
You’re off on this one bro..
Toying with Eli, no, but I think he had more in the tank if needed.
The results are what they are. I didn't hear Eli say, "I coulda dropped him but the track was too one lined". I did hear him say something about enjoying the battle.
Jett hasn't shown to be one that stretches out huge leads...could he have...idk.
Was it fun to watch a couple of guys that weren't gonna do anything stupid to each other go at it like that...you know it was.
#2 coming up...we can say,"Jett and Deegs own this shit...but this is moto and anything can and probably will happen. Ain't it cool.😉
Second sentence “I’m an Aussie”
“This isn’t about national chest beating”
Australians are tribal chest beating zoo apes😂😂😂 never fails
