No Beuno…
Geez. And Hangtown is just as bad as Pala when it comes to lack of natural shade. Sunstroke City.
Did you mean Beano?
I've been to Hangtown on one of those hot days. It's brutal. This is one of those rounds you can cook yourself for the next 2 races.

At least it's a dry heat. There's a reason the major players train in the south east. I think we might see some of the Euros wilt a little bit.
Biblical.
Amateur day was held a week early Saturday 24th Fun but the track didn’t hold the water. Dusty, hardpack and slick in some places and it was 70 degrees. They did a great job last year but it was much cooler. Gonna be a challenge with the hard pack and heat. I hope they bring in rice hulls to try to keep the water in the ground and not be too slick when watered.
Definitely nowhere near as bad as some Florida humidity, I thought Hangtown was bad on some of those hundred degree days during all those years watching the nationals as well as racing amateur races there, but until I experienced humidity in Orlando Florida and Texas, my word lol I don’t know how people can live in those places where you can’t even breathe, I guess you just get used to it.
Another reason Texas should hold a national for the 1st round. The last 3 nationals Washougal, Hangtown and So Cal.
What's the opposite term for 'mudder'?
Keep in mind Hangtown is basically a dirt pit, so if the weather is forecast for 100 degrees in Rancho it’s going to be at least 110 to 115 down on the start line. Amateur day is gonna be rough this year 😬
i grew up in the midwest on a farm working the farm and later on construction in the summers between college years. Later on lived in Texas for 2 years before moving to Arizona. The heat and humidity there never really bothered me much. The Arizona +115 degree + scorching sun wears me out 10X worse than the heat and humidity of the south. Everybody handles it differently.
Blue groove?
Is there a term for, “its so miserably hot I want to beat my wife, kids and dogs?”
Everyday?
Amateur day was yesterday

Heater.
"Racing in California triple-digits is like cooking in the kitchen with the oven door open. You can turn the a/c down to 70, but every time you stick your head in to see if the cookies are done its still 450 degrees." -RC, maybe...

Hell ya
We used to live 20 min from Hangtown and raced it a lot. I tapped out in 105f there. Even prepping for it with good diet and hydration for a week ahead, I couldn't do the second moto that day. I knew after moto 1 that I was done. I've ridden my street bike there in 109f and it was like riding in an oven - just brutal and dangerous as well.
We were thinking about heading down for the weekend but not with those temps. Now I'm acclimated to Oregon, and anything over 80 is too damn hot. If you are spectating, there is no shade, and the bowl holds the heat. Sunscreen, wet towel, an umbrella and as much water as you can carry would be my plan. Avoid caffeine and alcohol. Hell, just stay home and watch from the couch. That's what I'm doing.
Yes. Known as "I live in South Texas 30 minutes from the coast."
It’s a dry heat!
Knock it off Hudson!
😂
Is this for real lol
We were there for Pala 2 in 2022. If it’s anything like it was that day over at Hangtown, then I wouldn’t blame you for not going. Granted, I was pretty pumped to have witnessed that race in person lol
But Texas is too hot to hold a national…
For anyone planning to go who is not acclimated to being outside all day in the direct sun in very high, arid heat - start hydrating with additional electrolyte supplements now. Ideally low sugar ones. Water alone is not ideal when it is extremely dry and hot.
Same with WW Ranch, I guess.
