I’m sorry but fuck have they ever needed a truck for anything? How the fuck do you come up with a 4 foot bed and call it a truck. I know I sound like a broken record, but that old 80s Isuzu  P’up with the 4 cyl diesel, 8 foot bed and 35+ miles per gallon blows any of this new shit out of the water.

HAHA. I agree. The funny thing is that the Slate truck has a bed that is longer than my Maverick bed!!  But I can get two bikes in my Maverick so I am sure the Slate is great.

I use this small pickup as my daily and bike hauler.

1.6 liters NA, MT5, 2 seats, air cond... enough for me and my bike. In this picture, with my friend's Husky 450.

(BTW, I live in Argentina and this pickup is manufactured in Brazil)

We still have my 2000 Ranger in the family and it def has a purpose still but my car was getting long in the tooth and there were times i wanted to bring the fam but couldn’t. If my 2000 Ranger was a quad cab I’d probably try and make it and my car work but it’s not and I need to be able to involve the family more.

I have a 2024 hybrid. Lowered it 2" in front and 3" in rear and installed wheels off of a Ford Focus RS. They are the same bolt pattern and offset. Get high 30's for MPG and get about 25mpg when I am towing my 5'x8' enclosed trailer. I have 17k miles and has been trouble free other than some random connectivity issues with the Apple Play.

But that Slate truck will be my next vehicle if it comes in under $30k (before incentives). If it is available for under $25k out the door sign me up.

Maverick

Clean.

If the Slate works out my daughter, who just turned 13, will inherit the Maverick.  I put a deposit on the Slate so hoping to get it sometime in 2027.

Are you looking to adopt a son??

I get why beds are short, because mostly everyone needs a 4 door cab for their fam and friends..

That's what SUVs are for.

I'd be reeeally interested in the Slate if it had more mileage. Wonder how fast it could charge with a generator? I could make it to most tracks with 150 miles, but definitely not back!

A hybrid version would be rad, but then it wouldn't be a small truck with the crappy regulations on size.

They advertise these things as being modular and that you can choose to have the open bed or toss a row of seats and a cover on the back. Curious if you’re stuck with one or the other once you order it or if you can easily remove/install the seats and cover it you need a truck one day and a family hauler the next

I want one but life is a little tricky right now. My job is going great, wife's not so much. If I end up being the only income, I won't be riding, so no need for a truck payment. Also, used Mavericks are ridiculous, essentially the exact same price as a brand new one. I'll either be buying a late 90s early 2000s ranger, or keeping the crossover and trailer.

18R with single cam. Was a farmers, he used it to go to town on the weekends from new. Unfortunately he can't drive any more so I managed to get it. Toyota bought four 4wd hilux's to NZ in 1981 to see if they would sell, this is one of the four. Still has the original windscreen.

It's late 1992. New '93 CR250 in the back of my salvage title Ram 50, base truck, no AC... I pull up to Muddy Creek. JustMX sticks his head in the passenger window. He says, 'Looks kinda funny. Your bike is worth more than your truck!' I patted my golf clubs sitting beside me and said, "Joe, these golf clubs are worth more than my truck! A man has to prioritize!' We had a big laugh over it!

Your cool little gray truck reminds me of these Subaru’s from the glorious 1980’s! Was called the BRAT (at least in the U.S. market?)

I had a moto buddy that had one (like this one!) with the T-Top option and I always thought it was cool little hauler!
)You could also get “jump-seats in the bed, back when the government let YOU decide if it was safe or not to ride in the back of a moving vehicle!)

Those were fun days cramming our bikes & TWO of everything into the tiny BRAT bed and rolling out to the MX track with the T-Tops left behind! 👍❗️

No way we will ever see an option like that again!
Besides that you were in the BED of the vehicle, there were NO belts and the only thing securing your butt in the seat was your ability to hold onto the grab handles! 😝 👍❗️Good times!

Yeah she was older than me so I didn’t get to ride. It did look really cool. It’d be nice to see a modern version.

Update on my 24 maverick hybrid but blew then engine this weekend going to the track. At around 13k miles. Have had 2 oil changes both at ford. Went from running good to completely dead in under 1/4 mile. Smoking like a mother f’er and knocking that I've never experience before. Really thought I was going to have to throw both bikes out the bed. Was 2 hours from home also. Some bs
