If any major sports league had this much interference on the actual play of the game from the TV side and promoters there would be nonstop coverage of it and a total revolt from fans and players. This amateur hour sport just goes along with it all as long as NBC and feld keeps feeding them the leftovers. Sooner or later feld is going to realize that if the AMA just does everything they tell them to do anyway that they really serve no purpose and feld could run the show without them. If it's just a TV show anyway they might as well.

They're making changes to the layout that seem to be for the sole purpose of preventing riders from coming into the whoops with the kind of speed that makes blitzing advantageous. They're doing things to manipulate the play of the actual game in ways that favors some and hurts others. That is a line that a broadcast partner should not be able to cross.

Do you have actual evidence to prove this or is it speculation?

Which part? You can see the track maps and the tracks that get built. It's been reported by many that the people in charge think the whoops are dangerous and they don't want stars injured. Not complicated to put the story together here.... but no I don't have access to any internal memos or something if that's the kind of evidence you're looking for.........

I legit don't even know what the other side of the argument is here? You guys really want blitzing whoops to be a thing of the past? Because that's the direction we're heading. Get rid of dragons backs..... limit the number of whoops..... make the whoops slow jumpers..... why is anyone defending this? It's lame......

I don't understand, are some riders not allowed to practice jumping whoops?

Try to forget about whether it benefits or harms any particular rider and just ask yourself if SX is better with or without skimming whoops being part of it.

It seems they were building the tracks whoops sections just for Chase because decoster runs the show. Now that he's leaving they said screw him. Most certainly the track design revolves around chase and chase alone, it's so obvious.

I guess I’m a moran, but what difference does it make between jumpers/skimmers if the jumps are before/after the whoops?

Oh look ... another "WDS" thread....

They knocked down whoops in 2019 and 2021 so Webb would title then too ...🙄

It has been feeling like they are trying to cater to jumpers and skimmers. Jumpers more  often though. Last week those whoops were so far apart. Also like you showed they keep changing the track to take speed out of the run up to the whoops, which makes jumping either the better choice or an even choice.

I'm confused...

Are we saying they are altering the whoops to give Webb an advantage?

But I thought Decoster was the one that had the pull to get the track changed to his riders advantage?  Is that not the case after all?

Someone please help me understand so I can get outraged about the correct thing.

After Tampa where Pierce Brown broke his back in the whoops, they made a deliberate choice to switch the pre-existing track layouts that had a rhythm into the whoops section to have the whoops come before that rhythm section presumably to lower whoops speed and make them “safer”. Seems like everyone is mostly mad at them removing another thing that can separate the riders since whoops right out of a corner can be jumped or skimmed at a pretty similar pace. Then there’s a few guys saying it’s a conspiracy against Sexton or something, I dunno what that’s about.

I thought we all wanted to slow riders down to avoid injuries?  Now we want whoops starting midway through a rhythm lane so the guys can click 5th gear getting into them?  I’m confused.

If they are going to make whoops basically jumpers then screw SX and let’s just do outdoors.  Whoops are SX.  One of the biggest reason MXGP riders have a hard time coming over and doing great right off.  9 built so they end up jumpers is BS.  It’s a three jump rhythm section that is sharp and adds bad injury risk.  Many more injuries that more properly built/maintained whoops or even the dreaded dragon’s back.

Deegan? So he doesn’t get smoked by Davies in the whoops?

I remember a “drug ring inside of The Nationals”, too. 🤣

I saw the similarity in the 2 tracks, also. But, ummm…well…I like the lay out. 🙃

Baseball doesn’t use set dimensions other than the diamond and where the mound is. The Astros stadium is 409 feet from home plate to over center field fence. Fenway is 310.

Yeah, but they don't change the dimensions week-to-week.

You're really out there with this home-grown conspiracy theory ---    And to answer your question in  the simplest way --  SX is  FAR better when 6 of the top 10 guys are not sidelined with injuries .

I've said several times I don't think the changes have anything to do with Chase or favoring any team or rider.

They are making the changes and they've made it clear they are doing it for what they believe to be safety reasons.

How many of those guys were injured blitzing whoops?

Where's the conspiracy theory?

Some of you guys have yourselves defending the removal of blitzing whoops from supercross for some reason and if there's a personal bias at play anywhere in here I'd say it's with the people doing that as it's an absurd position to take as a fan of the sport.

Yeah well the conspiracy theory comment was actually directed at the OP , however I do not find anything wrong, suspicious or upsetting about the track map being slightly different than the actual track the guys race on . Who really gives a shit if the track is not exactly how it appears to the fans ?? I’ve built many tracks and we make changes on the fly to accommodate safety, lap times etc etc, rarely are they exactly the way we drew them up . The guys that have to ride it  all get equal opportunity to walk the track and plenty of practice laps prior to racing . And I don’t think every track needs to have “cookie cutter “ whoop layouts.  Ever been to a real outdoor mx track ?  Every one  is COMPLETELY different, and they still all line up and go . Geez the amount of complaining in here is asinine

I don't disagree with any of that. It's the slow elimination of blitzing whoops as a regular part of supercross success that I think sucks.

These whoops in Denver appeared to be blitzers today. Maybe they will stay that way?

Well, even the regular jumpers are all blitzing…. I’d say they are just easy whoops at this point.
