Australian motocross tracks are junior tracks and not built or prepped to suit big bikes at all, so many inconsistencies with their prep.

Man you should have seen the up ramp and you had to be in 3rd or 4th to get over it. I had to be in 4th, theres photos of the up ramp somewhere.

18 to 20 ruts all ending in big kickers.

It’s natural to want to place blame in tragedies like this, but now is probably not the time fellas.

RIP Joel, condolences to family and friends.

RIP :/

4/27/2025 6:51pm

My son was at this event. Joel gave him some coaching at the right time years ago and will be forever greatful. My son was in juniors than and now in MX2. Joel always has a yarn to him and did so again on Saturday.

I wasnt at the event. However my son said he was watching MX3 and the jump had a dangerous take off. He had mentioned to his buddies someone is going to hit that.

Sadly Joel i believe did hit the kicker. I wont go into any more detail of the crash. But probably could of been prevented.

I got the first call of the accident and a worst call later. Everyone Loves Joel. I have been personally following his journey for years.

People always say good stuff about people when something like this happens. But Joel is a legit genuine good guy of the sport.

I am at a loss and tears have come to my eyes.  I have watched Joel's videos for years and enjoyed his good nature.  I often hoped he would get that factory ride or even come to the USA to race.   Such a loss for everyone.   RIP Joel

Joel is 1 of 1.

I am grateful our paths crossed in Thailand.

Last week, he got the W and we shared some wheelies.

Too much light for this world ☀️

Ride in Peace, mate.

Yew 🤙🏽

So gutted to read this, I’ve actually never heard of him but all motocross riders are family and loosing a brother of moto brings tears to my eyes. So sad and I give my best to all whom knew him. As his sister wrote, he was doing what he loved.

I didn't personally know him but watching his YouTube journey from the start really made me feel like I did.

Very very sad news

RIP Joel

Ride in paradise Joel! Your journey was one I followed eagerly and I’m saddened to never again feel the excitement of seeing a new vlog on the tube. My condolences to your family and loved ones! Forever 81 ❤️

Trully shocking sad news. Condolences to his family and friends.

It used to be a rarity such accidents in the sport, until these massive high speed obstacles filtered into the tracks. Might not be the time or place to discuss it.

RIP Joel 🙏🏻

I got to  Appin few weeks ago, where Joel got a 14th and 7th for 9th overall in that round of the OZ titles

I wanted to see him to compliment him on his Vlogs, (and his riding) he'd done for quite a while, but, had to leave early to get down to The Gong for a family thing.

This is so Very sad - such a nice bloke, who , from a prang near 10 years ago (May 2015), had overcome an injury that almost left him paralyzed. He fought through that, to return to racing.

RIP, Joel.

I started back riding when Joel started his Vlogs. I've watched every single one and feel like I know the guy. This bums me out big time.

RIP Joel.

Such sad news.

I never met the guy, but almost every picture I have seen of him he has a massive smile on his face. That says a lot IMO

RIP Joel

Ride in peace mate. Gone too soon! Anyone who hasn’t seen his YouTube go take a look, he gave great insight into what it was like to be an Aussie privateer and was a genuine good guy. Condolences to the family and truly heart breaking to find out you had your first kid on the way.. such a cruel and shtty world!

This dude sounds pretty damn amazing.

Can we get a story…or stories…or a bio…from some of you that knew him, hung out with him, raced with him, trained with him, laughed with him…? Like Soul’s story…that goes a long way and shares the stoke of Joel.

And his bike looks jus’…really “personalized” and I love that.

To the Aussies, we…here in the states…can feel that Joel was someone special. Good on ya for making…for creating someone like him and, at the same time, we can’t even convey…enough…our sorrow for your loss…for our loss…this feels like a huge hit to our community.

To Joel’s friends and family…

May your memories bring many smiles.

Damnit.  Absolutely brutal.  I had never heard of him before this but he sounds like he was an awesome guy and the sport was better off because he was in it.

I can't even imagine the pain his family is going through.

RIP Joel, and prayers to his friends and family through these times. So damn sad.

It goes to show what a sickness this sport is - we see news like this, the Jerry Robin news, members posting about their injuries, yet we strap up our boots and continue to risk it all. Sometimes I have a hard time comprehending why we're wired this way.

Respect to Joel and the life he lived.

My theory, it satisfies the instinct for going to battle. You see the TTers at Isle of Man who legit have a calculable casualty rate and they keep racing. The casual person doesn't understand, but those that know know.

Well said, that theory makes sense.

I don't know if we're just sick or living a fuller life than others.

I told my fiance that my adrenaline doesn't start pumping until I'm at a level of risk that if something goes wrong I die or get seriously injured. Sounded pretty sick as it came out of my mouth. At least I've sold my street bike since then.
