Got in to a tankslapper.. I think, hit a rut from the ripper (hard pack). I am told my front wheel suddenly stopped so I endo’ed with my bike hitting me in the back.

Yes I am walking, but braced up. Luckily I’m in an office for most of my job, so I’m secured in that regard. Thanks for asking

Glad to hear that as bad as it is. That it wasn't as bad as it could be.   Hope You heal up quickly and everything goes smoothly for you.

Just got through this. Feel lucky, it wasn't worse. Wear the brace for a couple weeks, walk alot, 5-6 times a day. In 8 weeks start pt and do the exercises lightly. Yoga ect. Sleep and eat. In about 11 weeks you'll be killing it again. Im a framer for a living. And 55 yo.  Im back to work. I wore a catheter bag for 10 days to drain the blood. If you have that, life gets better upon removal. Be thankful.  Kick its ass. Dont take pain meds. Kill that shit. I took the time to learn some new recording software and mac.. I dont sit still very well. So tried to take the positive.  Your lucky and going to be good dude!

Oh yeah,  get an elevated toilet seat contraption. My sacrum was also busted in 2 places. With that and the crushed vertebrae,  and cant imagine sitting down to shit without it.

Just curious, were you wearing a chest protector or any back protection? If so what brand?

Keep your head up and be thankful. Broke two in my neck, two about mid chest and the two bottom (sorry I don't remember the #'s) 34 years ago. I am thankful everyday I can walk and with the exception of pain from time to time, no other side effects. Get well soon

Great to hear! Take your time, follow your DR's advice, do ALL your PT. And above all...heal up! Both mentally and physically

Had the exact same injury… ice and rehab are your friend. Careful rushing to surgery. I had surgery and shouldn’t have.

I’ve done it myself. 3 times to be honest.

The worst was 2016, I compression fractured t-3,4,5,6&8. I had other broken bones and injuries as well, but the fractures in my back were the most concerning. You’ll be feeling better in a few weeks, but it’ll take a few months to recover and not be timid.
This one was actually a bad MTB accident.

I won’t lie, I’m coming up on 60 and my body is definitely pissed off ! I’ve ridden dirt bikes and MTB’s my whole life, along with snowboarding and water sports and I have a very labor intensive job that is requiring more out of me than I have to give.

You’re young, you’ll heal up and can deal with the consequences in another 25 years. lol

That’s real !!

Broke T8-11 at 47 years old. I'm in construction at 68 and no major effects. Heal up and work hard to get your fitness back.

 THIS !!
Surgery is a double edged sword. Some surgeries help relieve pain and fix the problem, others cause life long problems and additional surgeries to correct “bad surgeries”. I have severe disc issues in my neck and they’ve been trying to get me to commit to surgery for a long time, but I’m holding off as long as I can. I know too many friends that have the same story as you, especially when it comes to fusing the neck.

I’ve quit riding motocross, mainly because of the nerve pain, but I have a grand daughter that I want to spend time with, so the risk vs. reward is no longer worth it. Not to mention the nerve pain was unbearable and kept me from enjoying it.

Same boat.  My neck is screwed.  I'd rather not get surgery but where it's blown out is causing major nerve pain and weakness.

C4-7 is what they want to fuse on me. I can’t even feel my left index finger and thumb, complete numbness and major weakness in my grip.

Problem is that the discs between C3 & C4 and the discs between C7 & C8 are going to get worn out and then I’ll need another surgery to add more fusion.
Nah…. I’m gunna hold off till I can’t get through the day. I’ve gotten close several times over the years, but I may have to bite the bullet soon, I’ve been suffering pretty bad for a few months.

strengthening your core definitely helps a lot, but I’ve been in PT for 9 months straight, twice a week and I’m still in pain.
