Yes. It really is that bad for the most part.
It is bad, we did move two today at one of our locations. Slowest its been since Covid for sure. Cheaper bikes, say under $3500 still seem to go pretty good but the more expensive stuff is dead...
I delivered yesterday at 11.00 s of Indy 250 mi radius no loads. Chicago 250 mi radius no loads & that covers 4 states. I checked manufacturing jobs non posted , construction jobs not many & only 20-25 per hr. I checked fb recently there no 02-07 cr125,s. One of my 04,s should sell & will post it for 3,900. I didn’t make anything since October being here all I hear is there is no freight . Worst junk I ever drove I,m in soo much pain everywhere. The wage drop is ridiculous in trucking but it’s Real time economy. I saw signs at manufacturing co.s for months so so contractor jan 8 u must be off our property or your last day is Jan 8. A temp hiring agency & that’s what co. s use for cheaper labor. Feb 2021 everything crashed I talked to day cab co.s the last 4 yrs full time is now 24 hrs a week. Amazon 3rd party illegal truck drivers sitting 3 days with no work. A massive amount of white collar workers entering the country the last 3 months .
I never know you're saying Mr. Professional. Yet, for some reason, I still read your posts.

I gave up selling my low hour 23 Honda 250R. Even had it on dealer showroom for 3 months and never had one call. I’ll just keep it for a while.
What are you asking? If you're trying to get 5k for a used bike when you can get one brand new for a few hundred more, it's going to sit
Same with my 2022 KTM 300XC. It has around 100 hours, loaded with aftermarket parts, suspension tuned, very clean and well taken care of. I had it listed for $6k and didn’t even get any offers other than your typical “will you trade for a 2014 YZ 250F even up.” You’d think someone would’ve at least threw a lowball offer of $4500 out there, but nope. Nothing.
Craigslist? I didn't even realize that was still a thing anymore. Everything is sold on FB Marketplace. Which brings the bigger issue. Thieves scope out Marketplace for bikes and steal them. Happening A LOT in the Northeast
I didn’t have a hard time selling my 21 YZ250F last month. Got exactly what I was asking for it too.
It’s wild out there. My last bike took a while to sell, and ended up doing dealer consignment. Thefts have been bad out this way as well. I’ve had a couple sketchy people try to contact me, but thankfully weeded them out. I’ll typically be careful with location, never have anything identifying in the background with pictures and only meet at a police station. If they’re not willing to do that, no deal, a couple friends go as far as to have a separate Facebook profile for selling stuff with a slightly changed name.
In my experience..450”s take longer to sell and Kaw”s 450”s take even longer to sell for some reason….
The used market follows the new market, imagine having a shitload of new outdated ones to sell. Hence, the deep and steep rebates from manufacturers. Late model used bikes have been devalued.
Surprised, every ktm 300 Xc I have ever had sold quickly, all 100+ hrs…maybe we have reached over saturation for a while…I plan on listing my 23 300Sx with 130hrs soon as I get back up north…I usually list them 500.00 below the cheapest comparable bike listed at that time… selling bikes is a pain in ass, I usually get Friends to buy them at a lower price but not dealing with kooks is worth it to me….
That's pretty decent if you and personally I'd do the same.
Your mates get to ride for a fair price but more importantly they get a honest deal.
I don't like to buy anything from strangers.
You’re not joking! Took forever to sell my ‘21 KX 450. Felt like I gave it away. They don’t hold much value. Market is slow on used bikes.
Is it still available?
Have a 23 MC250f on fb now for three weeks for a good price and a ton of aftermarket stuff including ohlins forks. I figured it’d go quickly based on my past experience selling our bikes. People are definitely tapped out and judging by the handful that have messaged me about it significantly dumber. Marketplace is such a dumpster fire.
The only bike that sells well in my area are 2024+ yz250f’s for some reason and older/cheaper 2 strokes. They often sell in a day. The 23 or older kx450 sit like stones on marketplace for months gradually lowering in price. I saw a 23 sr edition start at 7k 3 months ago slowly drop down to $5,000.
Pit Row
I was trying to find a 110 for my son and everyone in my area wanted MSRP or more for 5 year old bikes. Most of them had obviously been used as adult pit bikes, should only be worth half of a new one. People were asking almost 2 grand for 20 year old crf70's that needed "carb cleaning". I said fuck this used bike market and these people's insane prices, we bought a new one. I personally think big bikes are the same way, I don't know what you've done with it and parts are expensive, but people ask within a couple grand of a new bike. Enclosed trailers are that way as well, "buy my used trailer with dents, scratches, and broken lights for 90% the price of brand new"...
Sold my excellent condition low hour ‘21 yz250f for $5,600. Little less than I felt it was worth but knew the market was soft and didn’t want to sit on it all spring. Picked up a 16 hour ‘22 KTM 350sxf for $5,300 a couple days later. It had been on marketplace all winter(reason I put my yz up for sale) , probably could’ve got it cheaper as he said he was getting offers around $4500 (after we agreed to a price) but felt it was a fair price

The market is just going back to where it was used you be. And where it should be.
Yeah there’s a local kid that made a killing flipping bikes during Covid. Give him credit, he was hustling, but the market definitely made it easier. Told him to get ready to find a new hustle, dirt bikes were always a losing proposition pre-Covid. It sure was nice not sitting on bikes forever when you wanted to upgrade the last couple years but agree we are back to the dirt bike sales normal!
If it’s been for sale too long then it’s priced too high.
Have a 22 GG 250 EX with 3 hours on it. Built it during Covid. Big bore, Tristan ignition, full Ti PC exhaust, Ti axles, EVO bars, factory Brembo calipers, X-trig triple clamps, Guts seat, FCP Ti motor mounts, ZRT bearing throttle, Ti pegs, Carbon fiber skid plate, Rekluse clutch. Not one offer. 7k
Selling WP cone valve forks and WP shock separately. It my age I'm not an MX guy.
It does have that 2008 feel again, where no one seemed to have over $3000 cash, so nothing above that sold because no one would finance a used dirt bike.
But look at the bright side - it's a great time for everyone to offload their bike and stock up on broken X-boxes and other assorted junk in trade. 👍
Majority of people don’t hv 300 of cash , record cc debt of ovr a billion. 08 everything crashed in 07 . I had a union tanker job lined up in Etown Pa. Doing the same thing . My co was union but illegally busted out. I gave it alot of thought & was in every town in Pa. I like the state not many lakes& rivers though. And u need a real good vehicle to get around u can’t drive a beater in Pa. With my tanker co . Pulling chocolate, products to make it, veg oil, other oils, water treatment, etc. Then everything crashed in 07 Brutal since then trying to make a living .The industry changed wotc tax credit people became the priority. Exp people like 82 yr olds living in a truck making nothing. A woman told me that’s disgusting. Massive bankruptcies co.s tanking that been around since the 1920,s. I think I worked for 58 co.s all r shit by the way. I had aprox 18 checks of 00.00 during 08 to 16. Had to do railyard of Chicago a job u would never want. Who wants to get shot thousands of times. C19 blew everything up for a few months. Feb 2021 it crashed since then thousands of bankruptcies a week again. This is much worse than in 08. Look at job postings there is non in manufacturing. People will flock to a trucking job believing the adds , haha . Nobody makes what they post . I watched a few sleepy hollow 125 big money races from 2010 etc. I never saw a race that had riders at 110% like that .
Sold my '17 450SXF with 134 hours for $3800. It took 9 months, but I had it priced too high early on. I should have kept it, great bike. Wife says I can only ride one, I said a man cannot have too many motorcycles. She won that one.
A couple of things-first Craiglslist is a ghost town. Facebook Marketplace is the only place to sell stuff anymore. Second, make sure you have GOOD photos and lots of them. Most of the time I see bikes for sale and its 3 photos of the same side of the bike at different angles in a dark garage with 11 other bikes around it or a bunch of photos of them riding it. Put it in front of your garage door, have the bike squeaky clean, and take tons of clear photos. A good description is a must, tell everything you've done to it. I have buddies that struggle to sell bikes using the above crappy methods and my stuff always sells super fast.
For sure the market is down but a good presentation puts your bike above the other ones for sale.
There are new 250 ex's with rebates and blow outs close to 7k$. Used market is dead. If Trump sends out checks from the DOGE cost cutting, used market will explode for a month or 2.
The used bike market seems to have finally normalized from covid. Maybe even a little soft with the current economic uncertainty. The bummer is that most dealers are still acting like they can demand covid prices on new bikes, and current manufacturer incentives kind of suck. I just sold my 2022 GG EX 350 w/ 83 hours for $6k. I bought it as a leftover for $9k OTD and probably had $4k into it. Obviously, you never get money back on upgrades, but it was pretty significant depreciation. Every 2025 KTM/Husky 350 within a 100 mile radius of me is basically $12k+ OTD, despite significant dealer inventory. I was even quoted $13,700 on a leftover KTM FE which seemed kind of insane. I “settled” on a leftover 2024 FX 350 for $10k OTD, but the OTD excluded tax because it was out of state. Gotta pay to play I guess 🤷🏻♂️
