Which one has a better 5 year outlook in your opinion? If you had to pick between the two as a team manager to sign one of them for a 5 year deal who would it be?
Poll
Why not both?
Depends on whether you're talking SX or MX. Deegs for MX and, though early, possibly Davies for SX.
In 5 years they better be worried about Cantanzaro. He’ll be finished with his experiment and be a title contender.
Need to see how MX goes, but for SX it's gotta be Davies at this point.

I want to say Davies, but it is awfully early to make that call.
Recency bias is on insane display. Davies looks great on SX, but have we already forgotten Deegan's MX season last year? I would understand if Davies had been straight-up kicking Deegan's butt in SX all season, but that hasn't been the case.
Once he goes 1-1 at Pala, everyone will remember. He shines outdoors
Yup. Now, if Davies comes out at Pala and straight-up battles with Deegan for two motos, that could drastically change my opinion. But as of now, I'd much rather take the (still very young) rider who has proven to be an elite champion in MX and is likely about to be an SX champion as well, over a slightly younger rider who MAY end up being a better SX rider, but we don't know what he offers in MX, and doesn't have multiple seasons of durability that Deegan has proven.
I'll be mindblown if Cole is a match for Haiden outdoors. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do at Pala more than any other rider. His technique is amazing. It s beautiful. But Deegz is no fucks given, WFO, when in doubt throttle it out when it comes to mx. Mini beastmode!
DEEGS isn't sustainable.
I’d rather see Davies dominate personally, but both are preeettttttty damn good
Guess this just depends on how good Davies does in outdoors.
If we're talking 5 years, then we're talking 450, meaning we don't have much to go on for either of them.
Who knows how Deegan's style is going to translate to the big bike, and we're yet to see Davies outdoors.
So if I'm team manager, I'm looking at attitude and avoiding the Deegan circus.
I went with Davies. Personally, I think Deegan's attitude and overall pompous self image is going to be his demise. At some point, he is going to mess with the wrong rider who will "punch him" right back. Deegan has been able to be a bully without any repercussions and it's going to be interesting to see how he handles it when someone tougher than him gives it back. I also think that the whole "Deegan Family Mafia" thing is going to run it's course quicky. Yes, the kid is fast, yes the kid is marketable, but there will be a point where factory teams will wash their hands of him. My guess is that by 2028 he will be on his own team sort of like Jlaw did. He will be out of the sport soon after.
Your guess or your hope?
I agree with most of that. Deegan has the ability to turn on "beast mode" when he needs to and go insanely fast...but he gets bitten fairly often. Davies is fast as well, but his style is much smoother...more sustainable. If I'm a team manager, looking down the road that many years, I'm picking the rider who can & will put together some wins, and maybe even a championship...without me having to worry about when he's going to be out with a serious injury. I'd also have to choose Davies.
I’m in no way shitting on Deegan, but I think his cockiness is what has made him look a little bit less than what he is. He has had a really good year, but when I think about it I think I just expected better the way he was acting. I like the cockiness, but I think if you don’t dominate it takes away a little bit.
Davies by a mile. Like picking Kelly Tripucka or Michael Jordan. There is no comparison on the bike, as far as, potential.
Pit Row
If we're talking SX, absolutely Davies. In terms of MX, lets see how he does outdoors. At present Deegan is absolutely the best outdoor 250 rider in MX. In terms of big money deals etc, it's looking better for Davies - the teams give almost zero fucks about outdoors, it's all about performance in SX.
This isn’t recency bias. This is watching Davies put on a technique clinic. Unfortunately outdoors doesn’t mean much to teams, just us hardcore fans. An example would be Jmart. SX is king and Davies is solid in SX at 17.
I’d imagine Star is very happy with Deegans wins, championships, and his ability to stay healthy so far in his professional career.
100% Deegan
It's really tough to say as we don't have an adequate sample size with Davies outdoors. However, we're talking 450's in 5 years. Deegan is a beast outdoors now, but how will he be on a 450? Didn't Barcia have more success on a 250 compared to a 450? They do have a bit in common in riding style. Deegan is a rev'r. Davies seems a much closer style to Jett and that seems really smooth and efficient, but maybe that translates better to indoors for Davies. I think they will both be very good but it could be quite possible that on a 450 Deegan is stronger outdoors and Davies stronger indoors.
I’m way out of the loop on this, is deegan racing 250 outdoors again this year? I’m not really a big fan of the whole deegan thing since the days of Brian but do feel Haiden would be a bit wasted racing 250s again outdoors. Can’t deny the kids all out speed whatever your personal opinions are.
I love that Deegan is an animal outdoors, but I’m a little bit shocked the kid that had a full blown Supercross track outside his back door before he could walk isn’t putting in undefeated seasons on a 250.
Deegan had some “lucky” crashes last year in the outdoors.
Trampoline technique will only save you so many times.
You ain't wrong. Sx is the cash king even if most of us prefer mx
Yeah. Doesn't look great now to come out at A1 and say "there's nobody that can beat me" and only end up winning only 2 in 8 races despite all his main competition being out injured.
All things considered he had a good year. 7/8 podiums is pretty damn consistent for 250s. Meanwhile on the East coast RJ leads the points with 4/7 podiums and two races outside the top 10. I'm afraid I don't see anyone even close to Deegan outdoors. Maybe Kitchen if he didn't get hurt at Daytona
Davies looks to be faster, but Deegan is (right now) much more marketable. It's certainly a gamble, but for now I'd go with Deegan if I had to choose between them and all else was equal.
Crystal ball predicts Davies with a 3-1 at pala for the overall with Deegan hunting him down both motos due to early chaos mistakes.
