Prado won’t touch Sexton in sx so chase would probably still be the number 1 rider if he went to Kawi.

I struggle to see him signing with Kawi.  Their stance on bike changes, MXdN and the time it takes to get a bike to feel the way Chase likes it, all seem like negatives….

Does Chase chase the $$$?  That doesn’t seem like his MO.

Is he still nervous about KTM’s future?  That could be the big deal here…

After seeing how much AC made last year, I can only imagine the haul that Chase would bring in.

It's been reported that Chase could get upwards of tree fiddy, maybe even more.

If Chase goes to Kawi it’s over. We all know that bike is a pig. Look what it has done to Prada and Anderson.

He’ll be losing a lot of freedom with what he can put on the motorcycle if he goes to Kawi and certainly won’t be allowed to put KYB internals in Showa forks. He’ll also have to learn a completely new bike after he’s pretty much sorted out the KTM and the bike he is currently on will remain unchanged for the upcoming season. Unless there is a significant pay bump, I don’t see him leaving KTM.

How long was Eli with Kawasaki before they let him use different suspension components? We can also point out Kawasaki’s stance on MXdN but my point is they are more strict than KTM.

For personal reasons I kind of want Chase to go to Kawasaki because him and Prado as a team would be 🔥

Tomac said Kawi wouldn't make certain changes to the bike because, hey it worked for RV. I reiterate, as a Chase fan, I want him on KTM. He looks great on that bike. The mistakes are mental mistakes on his part IMO. Not the bike

One thing's for sure, if I were Kawi and got a chance to replace Anderson by Sexton, I'd do it in a split second.

DuDe I heard the same thing! I thought I was crazy but obviously I'm not the only one with sources. This guy told me Sexton just signed with Kawi when they revealed to him the new KX 2 stroke & said it will BLOW thumpers all to Hell and to start investing in pre-mix cus its about to POP.  He said by the time the magic beans he sold me grow a full on presser will be released.

Whew...thought I was going crazy there when he told me but HAS to be true.

Was Profeshenal125 the source?  I've heard he was hauling a load of magic beans for Monster Energy's new energy drink.

More of a general response than to the quoted post from here on.

Sexton had just got the Honda working well for him AFTER he had signed to go to KTM and I think he regrets that. I heard him say he did not want to make that mistake again in an interview someplace recently. I think he meant signing a deal so early on, not that he wouldn't have still left Honda.

If KTM is sticking to the schedule of new chassis , they will have a new bike this year for the Factory edition. So he may have to deal with a new chassis anyway if he stays with KTM.  Either way, there will most likely be a new chassis in the next couple years . Perhaps Chase is waiting on getting some time on that next generation chassis before he decides to stay or go. Or maybe he leaves while his paychecks are still clearing, so he doesn't have to worry about KTM's money problems .  Prado and Sexton would be a solid team.  I wonder who KTM would go after if Chase leaves.

Kenny(hard to see that happening)

Anderson

Vialle will have to move up if he wins SX this year.
None of 450 ktm group guys are signed (except maybe AP) and there’s a chance they down size there teams next year. So they could shuffle guys around.

Is J Coops deal up at the end of the year?

Teams are going to want to be positioned to go after Deegan when his deal is up too.

I know those are all great riders, but none are on a similar level to Chase . Deegan may be on his way to that Level and He has a history with the brand as an Amateur , I think Monster would step up to keep him . Its almost a family deal at this point. Maybe Kenny on the right day. Anderson hasn't been a consistent contender for wins recently. Vialle and J Coop might be podium guys , perhaps moto winners outdoors. But not at the level of the guys that can win a 450 SX right now.

I don't know who's contracts are up next year so I don't know who is available. I don't really see them being able to get a guy that is better than AP for 26 if Sexton left.  I could see Anderson and J coop go to Triumph or Ducati  to be a 450 guy for them.   Who knows maybe Vialle takes a big leap forward when he gets onto the 450.  He is a great rider, but just seems a notch off the level of the guys that can win a 450 SX. Roczen going back to KTM would be less of a longshot than going to TLD gear on a Ducati.

Yeah dude he told me about some guy he knew named Pepe Silvia?  I'm afraid this rabbit hole goes deeper than I'm prepared for.

He could just run KYB forks. Tomac did and many KX models have come OEM with KYB.

Best part would be another special racer with kit KYB forks which I would love one

All deals being equal. The Kawi is the better bike for him. They will give him enough of what he wants including kyb suspension. To be more than happy. It was the best bike for him the last time around too and even more so. I don't think any other bike suits him as well.

But it's not that much better for him to take a pay cut  or lose anything for it. I haven't heard anything lately that makes me think he has any major issues that would warrant him absolutely needing jump ship.

He will if he wins the championship this year as it would be his second championship and his third year in the series.  Below are the rules that changed at the beginning of 2023.

“2. A rider that wins a 250SX Championship will be eligible to participate in the 250SX class for a maximum of four years total.

a. If a rider wins the 250SX Championship in their fourth or more season, that rider will be eligible to compete in the 250SX class the following season only.

b. A rider must earn at least five points for it to count as a season.

3. A rider that wins a second 250SX Championship will be eligible to participate in the 250SX class for a maximum of three years total regardless of what year they won their second title. (i.e., if a rider wins their second Championship in their third year of 250SX competition, they will be ineligible for the 250SX class).”

They wouldn’t let KYB do most of the things they and Tomac wanted to do to the bike to get their stuff to work right. So it wasn’t all roses.

Tomac learned to adjust himself to what they would do, and it played a big part in his decision to leave.

Steve Matthes spoke to Red Bull KTM team manager Ian Harrison at Seattle about trying to retain Sexton.

“I’m going to try everything I can, of course,” said Harrison. “In the end it’s up to them [Sexton's group], but we’re working on it and we’re doing all we can to retain him."

Matthes asked Harrison if it appeared likely Sexton would stay.

"It’s the beginning so it’s hard to say," said Harrison. "You have to see what your competitors want to do. It’s tough! I know this sounds bad, but it’s slim pickings. There’s a lot of people after the same guys so I’m sure it’s going to be a challenge.”
