Biblical rain this week....
Seriously though I'm more curious how they manage to build a track if it's raining all week? Seems like it would be nearly impossible to spread out mud and form it into jumps. Is the dirt dry enough coming in that they can work it before it gets too saturated?
Rain in Seattle? Here's my "shocked" face....🤣
I say embrace it and build a survivor track without whoops and only a few jumps.
Just Monday but we’re catching a crazy amount of drops, gonna be interesting
like biblical...🙄
...like ya no for sure like ya like cant thank like

Just have to build it and cover by Wednesday evening. https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/KSEA
Cancel Friday press day riding and hope they can divert 1 inch of the weeks accumulated rain somewhere besides the low spots between jumps
I foresee The cowboy taking a win in the mud, Chase crashing and Webbs yamaha tranny exploding….
Ah, that time of year when I miss the King dome and having the race be early season when field weren't injury depleted.
Saturday doesn't look bad if they can keep it dry until then.
I loved the Kingdome. Call it drab and just a big concrete structure but it had a roof. I went to the Seattle sx in 84, 86 and every year from 88 to 99.
I've only been to the new place twice I think. One year it rained all day and stopped right before the night show. It was cold and my chick did not have a good time. I have no desire to sit in the rain to watch sx in March.
hahaha that is not biblical that is every day in Seattle.. hahaha
Unfortunately it shows rain in the forecast every day until Saturday.
This is why my crew waits to buy tickets until the last minute.
We have learned over the past several years that if it doesn't rain during race day, the crew has got it down to a science on how to keep it decent even if it rains leading up to race day. Will it be a mudder, probably not. Is there a chance it could be softer than normal, probably so.
Surely there must be a stadium In Seattle that has a roof? It may cost more than the current roofless one. How many more spectators would attend if the race was under a roof. That may help offset the cost difference.
They don't want dirt hauled into Safeco Field. That's really the only other Stadium, everything else is an Arena.
1978 Seattle SX heading to the stadium. Double header that weekend too.
I'm all for seeing at least one disaster of a mud race each year. Let's go
The only other field is where the MLB team plays. Yes it has a retractable roof and is next door. I don't think they would ever jeopardize the playing surface with baseball season here. In fact, the Mariners play at home this weekend too. I also don't know that the MLB stadium is motorsports friendly.
I also don't think it would impact attendance. Last year was doom and gloom all week and race day was gray and misty and I believe the announced attendance was about 58,000 which was one of the biggest announced attendance figures of the year. In fact, the capacity at the baseball stadium is only about 45,000 and they would have to block out many seats to reduce it further. The capacity in the football stadium is about 70,000 I beleive for what its worth.
Let's see a KROQ win in the mud!
Pit Row
Seems like the days of using baseball stadiums is mostly over other than Anaheim. I'm sure most places have no interest in allowing it when he baseball season is somewhat close.
Two questions..
1. What stupid fuck builds a roofless stadium in the rainiest city in the USA?
2. Why is feld so ignorant to go there in March? Nobody wants to see a mudder.
I went to every race ever held in the Kingdome as i live 5 hrs away in Canada. Been to 1 since....
Paul Allen.
He ran the data and determined that it doesnt rain all that much in the fall when the Seahawks play so why spend the money for a roof.
He is dead now...no word on whether he actually tapped Monica Selas.
Looks like rain until 11 am and then mostly clear after that… They have to cover up the track but yeah might be tricky building the track and keeping it dry..
Who is the best mudder in 450? Webb, Roczen?
250 I’d say Deegan has shown he is very fast in the mud.
One legged tomac could win a mudder, come on tomac early comeback
He dated her for several years, maybe that's why they broke up!
I've always remembered a Headline in MXA ( I think it was MXA) about an epic SX mud race in either the 70s or 80s. that went "SEATTLE SLEW".
For some reason I always think of the SX Stadiums having roofs - but, I think sweet FA of them are such things.
Milwaukee, now "sponsor name field" has written into the agreement with getting public funding, that there be no motorsports events in the facility. I' m hoping the eventual Chicago Bears stadium, which will have a roof, doesn't exclude motorized events.
I agree it was silly to build a roofless stadium in Seattle. I think Sandberm answered the question about Paul Allen (RIP of Microsoft) footing the bill for the new stadium. I think the hardcore football fans felt an open-air stadium was more hardcore or something. I think there was delusions of those cold snowy games in Green Bay, not at all thinking it rarely snows in Seattle, it is not fun weather when it is not sunny, it is that dismal rain. I will never understand wanting to suffer the elements when trying to enjoy watching a sporting event.
I miss the Kingdome a lot too. The atmosphere was always fun (even outside of SX), the food and drink vendors walking up and down the aisles, and there was no bad seats. I do not think I ever missed an amateur day of racing in the Kingdome, that was an experience! I think I almost killed myself every damn time, it sure made me appreciate what the pros could do, especially the crazy whoops of the 80s and 90s, I recall people having a hard time even just riding through them without crashing🤣
I just wonder why they have moved it so far forward in the series. In the mid 2000s, it was always the 2nd to last round before Las Vegas, or a few times the 3rd to last. That pushed it into late April when you’d think the weather is better.
I’m all for one or two mud races 🤷🏻♂️
Cowboy can hold a 30 second lead for 20.5 minutes and throw it away on the last lap. Higher chance of that then a win.
