Which is why it’s so baffling to me they narrow their search for a color analyst down to a tiny fraction of people, most of which cannot articulate thoughts into cognitive words on the fly. What % of people to ever ride have become a champion in the premier class? .001%? And that’s the people they exclusively look for to hire. And of that .001%, how many actually want to do it? Slim picking that’s for sure. So the quality is obviously going to be shitty, as it has been for years.
It is baffling that the TV producers are married to RC, there has been some former racers, obviously not with RC's race resume, who performed better as analysts/ commentators.

this one got me today haha. also the OH! every time something happens. "He's riding really well" its almost as if once he learned that it's well instead of riding good, he is required to say it a million times per broadcast. It is wild to me that someone who was so prepared for racing and dedicated to his craft that he really doesn't progress at all in between rounds of broadcasting.

He adds nothing. He repeats the points made by the other commentators in a more poorly phrased, stumbling, incoherent manner and feels good about the job he’s doing.
This was classic. They had just spent 2min talking about Roczen becoming a US citizen, how he has lived here for years. It would be interesting to know how many races Roczen has done in USA vs Europe. And it's not like all the Euro races are mudders.
After watching other motorsports on TV and then watching SX broadcasts, it's no wonder people do not take SX seriously. RC is terrible, but the whole program is disjointed as well, it's like SX is where the TV team sends their slow nephews to work as a favor to their siblings. Yes I know at one time we only got Carlsbad once a year, I'm 60 yrs old I remember. But the current presentation, though repeatedly stated it is geared to new viewers, makes our sport seem so bush league it would be almost better if we just went back to once a year to save the compounded embarrassment. None of my current riding buddies even watch the races anymore.
They should wake up and listen to Paul malin from the MXGP this am!! That’s how a race is supposed to be called period!! One man doing the job flawless compared to our week in and week out babbling BS!!

My friends and family who watch the races never mention the announcing. It’s doesn’t bother them. Too into the race to listen to every single word or phrase that Ricky says. It’s also doesn’t bother me at all.
