I don’t care what color a good racer is. James was one of my favorite riders to watch do unbelievable things on a bike. I root for Malcom to do well also. But for the love of God please keep this crap out of moto. It’s one reason why I don’t watch stick and ball sports anymore.

That’s true. However, if you’re going to recognize cultural heritage months you should acknowledge them all.

I think the point is most black people in America can't exactly trace their heritage back to a country/region like everyone else.

Huh?  I'd argue theirs is the least difficult to trace. Maybe I don't understand your comment. It wouldn't be the first for that. lol

I know I have Irish, German, French, and Italian heritage due to well kept records/generations of family staying together and passing info down. Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't imagine the slave trade kept records of their family trees beforehand, then "taken from Angola, purchased in Cameroon, landed in Virginia, traded to Mississippi".

The lengths that racist people will go to, to pretend that their problem isn’t racism is comical.

I haven't seen any interviews or articles covering the black experience in moto, but based on how this thread is going I would say sensitive people would hate it.

As a black man in this sport I also agree the post on Instagram or any other social media is just silly.  Racial b.s. has driven me away from watching or supporting stick and ball sports in any way.  I ONLY want to watch any sport based on the athletes skill, effort etc.  Don’t single me out as a minority to make yourself look better, I just wanna ride.

Andy jefferson never struck me as someone that wanted attention he was getting for the reason he was getting.

Just a dude wanting to make a supercross

Great to see him still involved in the sport at Husqvarna.

I also find it a little strange that they announce Black History “Month” on the last week of February. Really more of a Black History Week.

Certain Moto “fans” are among the worst group of people I’ve been around. Especially at the nationals. Not surprised that the social media comment section went the way it did.

Yeah I guess I was just thinking simply "Continental". Pretty simple minded over here. I assumed my roots were English,, Irish. Ancestry confirmed those two and some Scandinavian.

My family wasnt worth a shit at keeping records. My girlfriend tree making shit ten fold mine. All hers got cemeteries, pictures, census reports, library cards, etc going way back. I found one with a high school pic (my family's way larger) We sucked at it I guess. Lol probably don't help most didn't even make it to high school.

You are right though, a lot of them were bounced around a lot.

I believe this is the first time Feld/SMX have acknowledged Black History Month. Just curious if there are any interviews or columns out there that can be linked where black racers talk about their experience in the sport as a minority. Again, please don’t be weird.

You’re the one making it weird. Why not just make the thread without your comments beforehand?

RacerX had one in their 10 anniversary edition, featuring racers Andy Jefferson and Brian Thompson.

Every month is black history month, because their history is all our history, and making one month a year for it as a marketing tool is appalling.

The Stewart brothers, Andy Jefferson, Jalek Swoll - these are talented racers and AMERICANS!!!
