Ahem…when did The Canadian PM visit maralago?  When those changes were announced by Canada on the 17th, what was the motivation for them, as widely reported in the media, (threat of Tarrifs)…you’re dead wrong on this.  Those changes announced on the 17th were because of the meeting with Trump at Mara Lago…where Trump told Canada there would be tarrifs if they didn’t beef up their border…they are securing their border, so tariffs postponed for 30 days…we will see where things stand at that point.  But make no mistake, the threat of tariffs was the reason for the Dec 17th announcement.

you’re wrong about Canada…care to be wrong about Mexico playing him as well?

No, you're wrong, you're just choosing not to listen. My point, for the final time, is that despite alk the threats and bluster nothing changed between Dec 17 and now.  All the wasted time and energy and he literally took our first offer, couple pennies in the ante and it was all done.

Bro...how can you not understand that Dec 17th happened BECAUSE Trump told Trudeau that he would put the tariffs in place if he didn't improve the border security?  Why is that so hard for you to understand?

If that meeting at mara Lago didn't happen...had trump never told Trudeau he planned to put tariffs in place...Canada never makes that announcement on Dec 17th...So those changes announced on Dec 17th are a direct result of Trump's tariff threat?

For real...it's not that hard.

Calling republican's "part of a cult" is the biggest hypocritical thing I've heard from the Dems lately. When the dems are LITERALLY performing Satanic rituals, trying to mutilate children, killing babies in the womb, force sexual orientation on children in elementary school, and getting Satan statues made.. STFU clowns. You are the reason this country is embarrassing. We need to get back our real roots of moral. And the Dems have zero morals.

And I'm telling you the announcements on the 17th happened BECAUSE of Trump...All Trump wanted was better border security from Canada (as discussed at mara lago with Trudeau when he told him once he was sworn in he would place tariffs on Canada if they didn't do what he wanted)...Canada announced all the changes he wanted on the 17th of December...Done deal...WIN for Trump.

He only brought up the tariffs after the 17th to make sure they actually followed through...the tariffs are now postponed...but will be put back on table if Canada doesn't move fast enough.

Trump got Canada to improve their border security...just like he promised he would do...again..WIN for Trump.

I can't explain it any simpler than that for you...so if you don't get it, I can't help you any further.

I understand what happened, that is not relevant to my point. You're obviously not able to have a real discussion about it, so let's move on with life.

So then you acknowledge that the border security changes announced by Canada on Dec 17th were a direct result of Trump (and his threats of Tariffs)?

Right as soon as you acknowledge there's no meaningful difference between what was announced on the 17th and what was implemented on Feb2, and that the intervening 6 weeks was a giant waste of everyone's time and energy. But I don't think youre capable of rational thought, so I don't expect you to comprehend that.

Great…we agree that Trump got Canada to improve its border security…which is the entire point…win for Trump.

Everything that happened after the inauguration was simply to make sure Canada followed through with what they announced on the 17th.  So your point is, well, pointless…

Did the previous announcement include Canada commiting to a fentanyl czar? I'm not clear on that, was wondering if you had any idea.

The Canadian government is messing the whole thing up now, by design.  Trudeau is a lame duck, and his replacement in the interim will be an unelected WEF lover who calls himself a European.   Parliament isn't in session to actually govern.   It's all about not having an election at all costs, because the leftists are down in the polls and know conservatives would get a majority.

For the first time ever, I'm trying to get my kid to come with me to the states.  I'll start over, career wise.

Not totally sure about the czar thing. Is it a job title change to an existing position?  Something actually new? Either way it doesn't sound like a big change. To my knowledge it is the only new thing that was announced, but it doesn't sound like a material change either way.

Trump is a stable genius. Piss off 90% of the Canadian population just to get better Canada border security. Is that something he even campaigned on lol. The Mexican border I get, but Canada? Christ we're all screwed.

Supreme Court just shot down tarrifs. What a freaking mess we’re going to be in fixing this. I thought from beginning tarrifs are a legislative branch decision not executive branch.

A friend messaged me all excited about the court decision- we’re in Canada and aren’t especially fond of the tariffs. My response was to remind him that Trump isn’t just going to acquiesce so I wouldn’t get too excited. Trump will do everything he can to find a way around this. It’s going to be interesting, but not unprecedented in that presidents tend to find ways to skirt around court decisions if determined to do something. The difference is that presidents usually pay lip service to the idea of deferring to the Court and respecting the law. Won’t be any of that happening now.

First time looking at this post and reading the 1st page from a year ago then skipped to the last page.

Would be interesting to see how people’s options have changed.

Crickets or admit it?

None of my business partners import prices for his materials have gone up more than 5% an we get stuff from the baltics, France, Italy japan China and Vietnam. Their original factory is still running i Vietnam and hes still imports from there to here to supplement his one here.

My wife's company she works for imports copper to make wires and also buys already made wiring. Its one of the 3 largest wire companies in the us but was sold to someone in Britain. Anyways the point is their prices went up overall once its averaged out 2.7% but these fuckers are selling it telling end users its gone up 10% but we can help you out at 8 points up from the old prices.

Lots of people in industries working deals and profiting off of the media's hysterics on tarriffs.

Why would Canada need to do something about border security? You don’t go thru canadas security coming into the US. You go through  US security. And the boarder guys are dick head idiots.  Some of you guys spend to much time watching Fox News or whatever right wing Christian conservative BS your algorithm sends you to and not much time in the real world.
But the Canadian guys are just as bad going into Canada, that’s for sure. And I don’t blame them. Fucking shitty job I guess.

I got a tariff bill from FedEx the other day; 6 printed pages mailed to me. The bill was $0.15 total! Cost way more to print all that out, mail it, and process payment. I tried to log in and pay it, but the FedEx website couldn't find the invoice number.

I ignored, or rather procrastinated on paying, another tariff they sent back in January. It was incorrectly calculated to be over $1k, when it should have been less than $500 (still ridiculous). Went to check on that and the website now says no payment due as it's in dispute.
