Why isn't WMG suing Mirtl on behalf of their client?

But even if they did have legal standing, why would they?  The Lawrences already sued on their own behalf.

Knowing how big companies work, they just don’t move that fast.  Would expect they would file their own suit in coming weeks or even months, as they need to clear their own name and reputation in all this mess as well.

Why would Wasserman file a lawsuit if they weren't defrauded?

If one were to commit a crime for the most amount of money possible, w the least amount of consequences this is the crime to commit. My dad was an attorney and he told me these ponzi guy generally get light sentences and can serve at country club jails.  Espiecially if they can recover money.  The wife may end up screwed as their assets may be seized as repayment.

Reputational Interests......

But I doubt that will happen.

Interesting to see a few riders/industry people in comment sections talking about how “bad” this is for the sport and how it shouldn’t have been aired out publicly…

Not anyone super notable, but a few with more connections than you or I.

If I was the Lawrences, I would just lean on Wasserman to make them whole (they are the deep pockets). He was their agent and employee. “We don’t care how it happens, replace our money and YOU get reimbursed, sue, whatever. We can’t deal with this s - - t. We have races to go to. Just make it so.”

Lawyer here. Drug/alcohol problem usually explains why do something so stupid and obvious. Lawyers that fall into drug/alcohol problems do the same types of things and disbarment occurs almost instantly. Even accidentally mixing funds but not spending them. Biggest no no you can do as an agent/lawyer.  Criminal charges incoming. Pretty clear cut evidence given forensic accounting to show the breach and criminal thefts. Contracts, fiduciary duties and common sense are clear on the these rules.

Also Lawyer here,  Sometimes drug/alcohol problems are  to blame. . .

The desire to live a certain lifestyle and portray a certain image is a better high. . .sometimes doors get opened...most times not.

He is ALLEGED to have done these things. . . . it is unfair to convict on allegationss on the internet...but you know this. . .

I think you are jumping the gun abit with the "common sense" being clear. . .

It is never clear. . .

This is another way for the Lawrences to recoup their losses. . .

Without knowing the contracts regarding employment,we don't know for sure.

IMO, they could very likely be the party with the deep pockets that will eventually be joined into the suit.

I will admit, it looks pretty bad for Mirtl. . . .

i would be interested to know if Mirtl was a officer of Jetson Donuts LLC,  it may have been more a joint venture than just being his agent,

Some deals could fall outside the scope of representation when it comes to WMG and the Lawrence's depending on how the contract is written. One would think that this being filed solely against Mirtl and not including WMG means (to me) this is a deal Mirtl and the family had outside of WMG.

And the reason we only here “a rider was screwed over” but usually not the rider and certainly not the person/sponsor that screwed them. Always protecting the insiders, so strange…

I don’t know but in the real world for the rest of us, if an “employee” of a large company “damages” some one it is a “holy-f - - k, circle the wagons, crisis management, etc.”.

They have like 4,000 employees or something like that.

Not that 600k isn't a lot of money, but this to me seems personal more than anything. They trusted him, they feel he wronged them, and they are now going to destroy him. If it were just about the money I think you're right that they could have just told wassermann you make it right and deal with him.

You're missing the part that not only did he allegedly steal from them and ruin the trust between them but he also stiffed Alpinestars under their name. I'd argue their reputation/name/brand is far more important to them than the $600,000.

Yeah, I would think Wasserman’s rep as “we take care of our clients” would be paramount even it means “eating it”.

Careful, he loves to run his mouth about everyone on Vital in a general sense, but absolutely can't handle ANYTHING negative directed toward him in any way.

Astounding…. Clearly his divorce sent him into a death spiral of white collar crime.  He’s done and prison is going to be rough.

He's being sued.... He wasn't arrested my guy, unless there's new details im unaware of

This is a civil case, not criminal. There's no jail time.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's some coke/adderal type stuff flowing through his veins, but I genuinely think it's more a product of his environment and just basic greed.

Last I knew he lives in Newport Beach, CA. I lived there and Dana Point for about 7 years until 2020, and it's truly a crazy environment. The cost of living to live a very basic life is astronomical by itself, and then you're surrounded by people living a very unrealistic lifestyle. Whether it's trust fund kids, Bitcoin/Crypto millionaires, Executives of Corporations, Insurance moguls, Capital Investment folks...the money seems endless. You've got to be grounded and realistic about what lifestyle you can truly afford to live there.

I have a feeling between that and being around his clients who make millions, he believed he was one of them and was entitled to the same lifestyle. The OC life got him, IMO. It's so damn common in that area to get caught up for shit like this. I actually left in 2020 after discovering my business partner was funneling funds to his wife for sales commissions that didn't exist. Decided I needed to do business in an area where people are less concerned about their image and appearance, and more likely to be patient and play the long game.

Kyle,

You are so on point with this comment. I had a best friend who thought he was a much bigger "player" than he actually was... and it wasn't a pretty outcome.

I'm hoping you were able to get the money back from your partner! Nothing worse than a thief.
