Jett isn’t riding with a technique that hasn’t been seen before though. He’s maybe the most efficient rider we’ve seen but he isn’t doing anything that people haven’t done before.
MC rode a SX track different then everyone else. The field had to catch up to him.

I do think todays generation of riders are ahead of where they were in the 70’s and 80’s. New techniques were developed. Watch Carson brown ride a vintage bike, we’re riders in the 70’s-80’s riding the same?
It’s the same in all sports. Go watch bob cousey dribble a basketball and then watch Steph Curry, it doesn’t even look like the same sport. MJ will be considered the best player by people of my generation and older but the younger people will look at LeBron or Steph or someone else as their GOAT. No one is right or wrong, it’s just opinion.

To be fair, if you’re going to ask that question about Jett now, then it would have to be at the end of 1993 for MC. After both their first premier titles.
MC certainly became recognisable to some non-moto people, but that was much later, after multiple championships.
If you want to explain this to someone who isn't biased with opinions, let's explain it in simpler terms.
19 year old Jett Lawrence lined up as a rookie against a field of racers with 24 combined AMA Supercross/Motocross Championships and went on to have a perfect season (becoming only the third person to have a perfect season and the only rookie to have a perfect season) then backed it up by winning the AMA Supercross Championship in his rookie season at 20 years old, winning 8 races. He also won his first ever 450 Supercross Main Event, which means he's the one and only person to do win in their first premier class 450 Supercross and Motocross start. (Side note: McGrath had 8 premier class starts before winning his first main event)
21 year old Jeremy McGrath lined up as a rookie against a field of racers with 16 combined AMA Supercross/Motocross Championships and became the first rookie to win the premier AMA Supercross Championship with 10 main event wins. He followed that up by dropping back down to the 125 class outdoors and finished 3rd in the series, winning 2 races.
Take that information any way you'd like but I think it's pretty obvious.

Overall with MX and SX it’s Dungey by a mile as Jett’s “Rookie” season is spread over two seasons.
This article is mainly about SX and in that case it’s Reed, he was MC on steroids. In his rookie year he was faster then MC ever was and pushed the GOAT to the final round of SX. Coming up 7 points short to RC is more impressive then either MC or Jett but obviously he didn’t win the title. But if you know about the sport then winning more races then RC as a Rookie is as impressive as it gets.
People forget how hard it used to be. There’s hundreds of hours online now about bike setup, technique etc.
however, the comp has access to that, too.

I saw that at GH last yr on the 125 . Same as 91 Millville. Broke his tib or fib & raced the last 125 sx round to wrap the title up. They raced Wayy harder back then , it’s not comparable. Mx Kied said I held it wo & I was going for it. He & MC crashed that’s MC in a ball ovr the bike . Hell watch the video They don’t push it like this anymore

Jett went 22-0 his rookie year. Limiting it to only supercross is ridiculous because Jett jumped to 450s outdoor so I’ve was a true rookie
There’s no rookie in history who has been close. There’s no argument. And I absolutely love MC. He was amazing, but Jett had a far more dominant rookie year.
For me its Mcgrath all day long. 1993 was looking to be a repeat of Bradshaw Vs Stanton. With Jett everyone was expecting him to win.
Ronny Tichner was a much better sx rider than Stanton, don’t forget Mx Kied, La Rocco, Swink amazing rider, etc. I thought Bradshaw would get the championship. And MC would lead a lot and get some wins . MC had a powerful impact on Earth and it created New water ways . Like this 1 in Mauston Wi. Earth opened up & a Lake let go & now we hv a beautiful water fall. Ah thank you MC . I walked a mile in snow to see it last night.

If Villo doesn't break his leg due to the track being down to concrete then Dungey doesn't win any titles as a rookie.

If DeCoster had stayed at Suzuki, RV only gets half the titles. Dunge mostly raced Villo on a development KTM bike and pulled thar whole company up with him.

And you can keep telling yourself that about Villo. Dunge was riding the same track he was. If and buts don't matter. We could sit here all day talking about things that could have happened.
No one would have won anything if Hannah didn’t break his leg water skiing. He’d literally have 47 titles and be prepping for A1 as we speak

Dungey definitely coulda won more titles if Villo wasn't around, but as it stands I don't remember Dungey ever beating Villo in a title that they both finished 😉

If you want to get technical Ken won his first supercross on a 450 as well. His Daytona and Seattle dabbles were on a 350.
Well Dunge won SX and MX titles his rookie year. Jeremy only won SX. So, how Is that dumb?
Because as has been mentioned several times, but Dungey lovers refuse to admit, Dungey only won when his main competition was hurt.
