Best races from the past?

Edited Date/Time 11/27/2024 5:57am

I’m looking for a list of the best races from the past (available on YouTube or Peacock) to watch over the upcoming holiday weekend.  What are some of your favorites?  I’ll go first.

1990 Atlanta SX.

2011 Atlanta Supercross 450s, surely has to be one of the best SX races ever?

Budds Creek 2007 - 250 Moto 2, one of the best battles I can remember between more than 2 riders for multiple laps and multiple changes for the lead

The whole 2012 250 mx was good.  Some of Bagget's late charges where unreal.  Toward the end we were starting to see the Eli we now know coming out (won 13 title).  Those were some good races.

Here's a link to WD840's season recap video.  He does a great job continuing The Great Outdoors tradition.

JS7 vs canard at millville was pretty epic.

1998 Southwick National, John Dowd 1-1 in 125 class, Doug Henry 1-1 in 250 class. Locals dominated and left with points lead in both classes.

Great race.  I was fortunate enough to see it in person.  You could feel the energy flowing through the Metro Dome!

2001 SX - San Diego, Anaheim 2 and 3, Las Vegas

2005 SX - San Diego, Daytona, Orlando

2009 SX - Tough to remember, but a few good heated battles between Reed and Stewart

2011 SX - Atlanta

2012 SX - San Diego

2014 SX - Anaheim 2

2011 MX - Much of the first half of the season while Reed was still in the mix. The battle between him and the Ryans is some of the best outdoors I've seen in 450s where there wasn't just one guy mostly dominating.

That was a great day for New England. I was there, it was sick.

Ive been waiting years for someone to put up  the 1997 southwick national when junkyard went 1-1 in the 250 class. That was the most epic day in motocross for me. The atmosphere was electric and the crowd was going insane for Dowdy

I remember that race. Fantastic. Weren’t Dowd and Henry teammates at one point?

RV vs Townley on PC Kawi's was some of the tightest and fastest battling outdoors i have seen.  Just insane bar to bar battles. So good.

Same,  It's the loudest race I've ever experienced.

2002 Pontiac SX- RC almost last to 2nd at the end of the race. Crowd went absolutely nuts. Multiple lead changes between DV, Lusk, Fonseca, and Ramsey.

2017 Vegas SX- One of the best 250 races ever. Osborne secures his first pro title and AC wins one of his first mains!

Numerous js7 races come to mind.. Sexton 40th to 1st was pretty cool.

Hanny/Travis Pastrana at Straight Rhythm was sweet too.

Some of the 2012 battles between Herlings and Searle in MX2 were epic

I dont remember which year, but Webb and Jmart had some great battles in 250 outdoors as well. I think Webb won the title

I’ll be in the basement after dinner going through the list here while my wife is upstairs watching football.  I’m not a football guy, but it looks like the Giants are so bad that the Cowboys might actually win for a change.  Thanks for your suggestions.
