Triumph Motorcycles and Bobby Hewitt would like to announce that the two parties, who have been working together in the US SMX series, have mutually agreed to part ways.

Triumph would like to thank Bobby for his contribution in developing the foundations of the US SMX program with Triumph, leading into the British brand’s first racing operation in off-road competition. The partnership celebrated the launch of Triumph Racing, including the brand’s debut season in AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross with the all-new TF 250-X. The Triumph Racing team earned a heat race win in 250SX and a podium in Pro Motocross with Jalen Swoll - moments that will remain in Triumph’s history.

Heading into 2025, as agreed by both parties, Bobby will step down as Team Principal of Triumph’s US Supercross and Pro Motocross activities with immediate effect. Triumph would like to wish Bobby all the best for the future.

Bobby Hewitt, HRH Racing:

“I would like to thank Triumph Motorcycles for giving me the ability and opportunity to build Triumph Motorcycles Racing Program from the ground up for the past two years.  Putting together a new Team and rider line-up for the 2024 and 2025 SMX Race Season will forever be one of my greatest accomplishments.

I especially want to thank this year’s riders for the 2025 SMX Race Season, for believing in me and the program. I believe it is the strongest group of riders I have ever assembled and looking forward to seeing them succeed this race season.

Now that the Triumph Racing Program and foundation has been assembled, it is time for me to explore the next challenge and other opportunities. I would like to wish Triumph Motorcycles and the riders all the best in the future.”

This one really has me stumped.

Bobby took on an entirely new brand and team, built it from the ground, debuted well (albeit mechanicals issues that should have been expected, and has a legitimate lineup for 2025.....the hardest part (in my ignorant opinion) is behind him, and now he's out?

I hope we get some insight into this decision sooner rather than later, because this one doesn't make a ton of sense on the surface.

So this puts the nail in the coffin of the Anderson to Triumph speculation I would guess?

Remember when Evan Ferry left, and Matthes said "a lot of people are saying Bobby isn't the same guy he was when he ran Rockstar Husky". Wonder if he was politely forced out? Not sure how to take "not the same guy he used to be".

Triumph has done extremely well so he seemed to have done a good job. Maybe the italians at ducati made him an offer he cant refuse.

I remember Steve saying that and was going to post what you did.

Wonder what was different about Hewitt? A little older and not as passionate? Out of the sport just long enough to lose focus? Just couldn't relate to the rest of the team?

Please keep in mind that anything Matthes says regarding the Ferry family will be obviously, undeniably, and understandably biased.

A cooksey video poped up on YouTube a few days ago. And with all the cooksey stuff on here raving about him being crazy i thought id give him a watch for the fun. He broke the news on Hewitt & sure enough he was right. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Either Ducati have made him an offer he couldn’t refuse for 2026 or as people have said, his heart isn’t in it knowing what life is like on the other side of being a team manager??…

Shocking stuff

I don't understand this obsession with somebody being first to report something.   Who flipping cares who's first.  And there's a perfectly good reason why Kocksey reports stuff first, he doesn't wait for official confirmation, or try to talk to the actual parties involved, he just runs with something he probably heard from a friend.   The real moto media wil often wait, talk to the parties involved, etc.    Matthes will often just do an informal tweet instead of anything official.     Not Cocksey though, he runs to his youtube channel to try and break a story.   That's why he'll remain a nobody in the industry, do you think product or gear suppliers would trust the guy with new product info, he'll just run with it whenever he wants.  No riders will talk to him because he'll spread gossip and rumors.

I think it is safe to say everyone knew he was gone (everyone being the moto media that were present) at the Triumph 450 press intro held a few weeks back.  It was an "open secret", for lack of a better phrase.  But as a poster said above, most of the MX media didnt want to or were not able to "break the story".

Kooksey probably got his info from there and went right to youtube with speculation.

Regarding the Ducati comments, I doubt it, the Ducati program is closely linked with TLD and I dont think he would go with a TLD type structure.

Never say never, but I would be surprised.

It is an in-house factory effort.

So the other media makes sure it’s ok to say something without damaging their access and/or need to get the proper spin relayed to them
