As a kid growing up in NY watching pro motocross on the Speed Channel, I always wanted to travel out to the West coast (seemed so far away) and hit the Talladega first turn at Glen Helen.
This past weekend I made that dream come true.
I’m moving to Spain in a couple of months and will knock off a couple more bucket list items.
1) Euro MXON
2) Ride Lommel with my son
I've shot on the floor at supercross and motocross rounds, ridden famous tracks like Castillo Ranch, goofed off with Travis Pastrana at the old Red Bull Compound. It's crazy I've done so many cool things when it comes to moto, but I've never been to the MXdN so that's something I'd like to do in my life, preferably in Europe.
-Witness Devins scrub in person
-Meet the man
-Try wahoos fish tacos
-See what Florida life is like around Claremont etc
Attend any AMA pro race. Weather it be sx or mx.
Absolute number 1 on my bucket list.
Been watching for 32 years.
I'm fortunate to have completed a few already, such as riding in the Sahara, lommel and Romania, watching MXDN when the Netherlands won at home and watching the IOM TT twice.
My current list I'm actively working on, setting plans for and training for is:
Race a 24 hour enduro as an ironman
Race erzberg, Romaniacs and sea to sky as well as other international hard enduro races.
Riding from Alaska to Argentina, off-road as much as possible following the TAT coast to coast and then BDRs north to south. Also visiting Moto landmarks in the US such as Glen Helen or some of the awesome trails like Rubicon and 5 miles of hell and riding across Baja.
Attend A1 in SoCal.
Attend an Outdoor National or MXON. Got Ironman in my plans for next year!
Race an Amateur National in the vet class that is not Loretta's (Mini O's, Freestone, Mammoth, Daytona etc.)
Try a GNCC or Enduro event for the sake of it.
Daytona Amateur Vets SX.
Pretty much done everything i wanted to, and a ton of stuff i never expected to.
Be nice to ride Maggiora.
Can I DM you about photography?
I want to get a rally license and participate in a true rally race.
I don't ride dirt bikes brother.
Red bud on the 4th and MXON in Europe are mine!
Nice
Ride the T.AT. Ride in Baja more. Take a summer off and travel the us with the camper and dual sports, hitting a few nationals on the way and exploring little towns and bombing around on bikes.
Had a chance to ride in Baja this weekend helping the Los Ancianos club lay out a course, my friend is the secretary of the club (I think ?) Anyway it sounded like a fun weekend and I had all green lights but I F'ed my back up sometime in the last couple weeks. First pain was moving an old heater, then did about 20 laps coming up short on half the jumps on the Pala vet track for my sons 33rd birthday, then cartwheeled the mtb bike. Can't pinpoint when it got "Bad" but I can't stand up straight or lift anything without 240V zapping my lower back. Hoping it's anti-inflammatory meds / pt injury and I didn't knock a screw loose. Going in for X-Rays tomorrow instead. Oh joy...
The summer trip is going to happen next year (Knock on wood) We've been planning it for years but the business hasn't allowed it. Next year my son is going to run it while we bomb around the country. That trip got "Inked" after following G-mans story honestly, it's been "Next Year" for like 5 years in a row. This year we're making it a priority cause we aint gettin any younger, again knock on wood.
I'd love to do a Baja ride from TJ to Cabo, A mellow 2-3 week window on mostly fun trails. My days of 250 mile days and super technical rocky climbs are sadly behind me. I want to do more of an old man "Sip to the Tip" type ride 😂 maybe spend a few nights in a row here and there at the cooler surfing and snorkeling spots on the way. Mostly riding the fun flowing scenic trails, more than the edge of the cliff cactus lined cooler size rocks erzberg shit LOL.
Maybe I can ride shotgun with my friend who drives the chase truck one year on the hero rides down there, you know like if they need like an extra body to fill a seat in the truck and do the dishes or something hahaha...
Pit Row
I don’t know whether to thumbs up this post or give it a thumbs down haha, heal up!!!
It’s cool seeing all of these from everyone. I feel lucky to have done many of the things in here and been able to check off some of my bucket list already also. My list:
Race Baja 1000 (2014)
Race 24 hours of Glen Helen (4 times)
Attend Red Bud national (2014)
Race ISDE (2019)
Race a rally (2022)
Race Dakar
Race on every developed continent (3/6 so far) Attend Erzburg and survive the beer tent
Earn a District 37 #1 plate (2024)
Complete the Tour of Idaho
Race a GNCC & National Enduro
Pitch a speedway bike sideways into a turn
Attend MXoN
Ride with my son (he’s 5 weeks old today)
I was thinking this last yr why am I killing myself out here running 20-43 hr days for months straight. I could hardly remember the main reason. And came up with other cool races. I was supposed to race AX in 21-22 season. But a massive amount of injuries & hundreds of injections to get healed or good enough to go again . I see alot of Lommel responses. Wi. And eastern Mn. . Hv better sand tracks
With hills.
I’ve always wanted to ride Glen Helen, Buemont Hills, and Glamis. Also any other place featured in Crusty films, Steel Roots, and Wrath Child.
Also I’ve wanted to go to bike week and watch Daytona for a long while now.
Earn a Loretta Lynn’s bib (was an alternate 3 years in a row).
Put first tracks down at Southwick.
I'm currently sitting at 118 tracks ever ridden and I hope to reach 200 before I hang my boots up.
Holy cow I didn't even know there are 118 tracks good job !
The last tour I did started in Arizona, and I threw my bike in the truck in case any riding opportunities came up along the way. I ended up renting a quad locally for one of my Techs & we spent every day after rehearsals exploring the Tonto National Park.
Definitely make that happen if you can. It's one of my favorite riding memories...
Oh there's a bunch more but will have to drive a tad further.
DO IT! Super fun
At 63 years old I've checked off a bunch of items. Raced Mammoth, Glen Helen,Amature SX at the L.A. Coliseum, rode Baja and deep into Copper Canyon in Mexico, Costa Rica. Taylor Park in Co. dual sport the Continental devide on a 5 day ride/camping trip, acheived a state title in Trials. Spent many hours at the track and in the van with my dad brother and friends. Great times and memories.
I race vintage now and want to hit up, Vintage Days at Mid Ohio, MX Rewind at Unadilla, Diamond Dons, Daytona vintage SX. And ride more single track with my buddies, spend time with my grandkids and take the wife along on all the adventures above.
Were crossing off riding in Costa Rica in two weeks! I can't handle the stoke!
