So we dug in. The deeper I got, the more I found. The good, the bad, the ugly and the awesome.

The bike was complete, but had the usual signs of wear and lack of maintenance. At first glance the bike looks stock. The clamps, pipe, wheels and other parts were oem, but the white plastics, seat cover and some other not-so-obvious details had me convinced this was at least some part of the original bike. Probably an end of season rebuild so it could go out on the lot for sale.

Cabinetry/woodworking. The place can be deep in dust, cutoffs, and tools scattered about.

Yup Blake is probably making more money than all the guys on the starting line including the top guys, taking over the family business and good for him!

The ‘09 is a great bike. I got a little carried away with this one, I ended up putting too much money into it. The motor was a little soft on the stock bike, but Tokyo Mods did a great job with their mods.

That’s on my hit list of bikes to own. I recently bought an ultra pristine 2008 CRF450R and it’s so astounding how good it is. I put a pro circuit exhaust on it, had a carb built to spec for it by Jet Labs, and had the suspension sprung for my 160LB weight. It’s so good. I got paint matched up closer to the UFO plastics,so the colour is a bit more vibrant than oem green.

I dummy fitted the suspension and made sure everything was good.

The frame was welded up everywhere.

I have a mig at home but not a tig and the frame needs both.One of my friends has a race car fabrication business with everything which is lucky for me.The main issue was fixing the frame at linkage pivot.I spent hours grinding and file finishing it flat before welding in thick washers to get the frame back where the linage bearing sleeve was tight.You can see the gap after the previous owner cut into the frame.

Got a few laced up with yellow and a few laced with black. We have had great luck with the D.I.D st-x rims, and unfortunately they discontinued the yellow. Otherwise, I’d probably always run yellow. We’ll bounce back and forth between the two depending on the graphics for the weekend. I know the 05 era factory look has to have yellow in my opinion. I’m on the fence as to which color to run on the 90’s era and the mostly black look.
