How much is it? It has been spouted ad nauseum by the left for years now but I’m pretty sure I’ve never heard one of them (except maybe Al Sharpton and he was embarrassed by John Stossel when asked) give a number that they want to rally around. I don’t want to hear about progressive tax rates, loop holes and all that gibberish. You can start your own thread about that. Just give a number or percentage and your reason for that amount. No diatribes please.
The card goes sideways aaaaaaaaand go…
Tax is a theft. There is no law ,that says you must pay tax.
🤦♂️
Sovcidiot?
I dont know what the fair share is but I did get these license plates the other day.

I was hoping we could start this discussion without a massive first turn pile up. Should we throw the red flag and start over? I need numbers people! 🤦😂
The fact that the Left rallys around the "Fair share" mantra yet never clarify what that means is by design not accident.
It's just a smoke screen to take more of our money!
How do I know that?
Because they never clarify what that means.
Rinse and Repeat
And they rally up people that pay little or no income tax and don't even know they don't pay income tax
15%
Bret is the first one in the class to earn an A for reading comprehension! 😂
Talking points wank. Like "working families". Were we a "working family" when my 2 kids were in school and I was the only one working. Was I a single parent with a job or a working family? Would I be treated differently?
It's all fucking wank. They know what will excite the low information voter. That's who they talk to because they outnumber the 10 or 20% that know something by 5 to 1. They could give a fuck less what you think.
I long ago quit wringing my hands about it or dreaming of pinning one of the bastards down. You can't. They are professional liars and are paid fairly well for it.
Fair share? How about a fixed rate return? If you haven’t had a job throughout the year, you get nothing for a tax return the following year. If you’ve paid taxes throughout the year by, being gainfully employed, you get 10% of your income back. We’re already paying taxes on everything else so…..
Too complex to answer, because before you can come up with a number, you want proper care to be taken when spending other people's money and we don't see that. Government jobs should be ball busters, not the joke of the employment world. I guess I care more about the mentality than the number.
15% national sales tax and no income tax.
Three percent or they can fuck off.
Can we get rid of some waste and corruption our government spends before we give a percent ?
Damn it boy this is not how you negotiate lol.
5%. for EVERYONE
The U.S.A. government has other ways to make money anyway. Tariffs where the largest share prior to income taxes.
Pit Row
16th Amendment.
Anyway, I agree with byke for a change. Pleasure to meet you on common ground. The federal budget doesn’t have an issue with inadequate revenue, its problem is exorbitant spending. Most of that is the military and money sent overseas. Maybe we can’t all agree about how domestic spending should be handled, but we should at least agree that we don’t need to spend so much giving free shit to other countries or blowing those countries up based on how our political class feels about them.
I'm just glad that Tea Party thing worked out many moons ago.
Thank you for proving my point…
Remembering when the GOP crushed Steve Forbes run when he wanted a flat tax and term limits. Then Bob Dole got smoked.
The establishment GOP has been corrupt for a long time as well as the Dems.
Sounds good . It would be interesting to know the actual % it would need to be to work. Im guessing (uneducated) it would have to be much higher.
When I hear ‘working family’, I think of a family that gets most of its income from wages rather than capital gains. That’s probably overly simplistic, of course, but it’s a definition I heard quite a while back and it kind of made sense to me.
10% Federal consumption tax.
Exclude food, heath, education.
Do away with the income tax. No more tax day. Just straight cross the board 10% tax on everything.
I love the consumption tax. Because it gives control back to the tax payers.
Want to pay less in taxes? Consume less.
Typically, rich people consume more then poor people. So they obviously pay more in taxes.
Nothing is more FAIR then a straight consumption tax. Everyone pays their FAIR share then.
I believe that Jeff Bezos and a poor person should pay the exact same 10% tax on a BMW purchase. This is fundamental. We all must pay the same % of what we consume.
If a poor person wants to be taxed less, then opt for the the Corolla.
If Jeff Bezos doesn’t want a huge tax bill, then opt for the 100 foot yacht instead of the 175 foot yacht.
The consumption tax is FAIR and easy to understand. And most important, gives the power back to each individual on how much they truly want to pay in taxes.
Want to pay less? Consume less.
Flat tax that automatically adjusts to match spending and maintain a balanced budget. Every source of income including welfare, ebt, disability, etc included as taxed income.
I’d add that we should abolish property taxes, at a minimum for those who own the property free and clear. It’s utterly wrong to be able to tell someone the government is taking property they own outright because they didn’t pay the taxes on it.
I disagree with property taxes in general, but the only acceptable compromise (if any) to me is what I described.
I asked a guy how much of my hard earned money should go to support the illegal immigrants. He said “all of it.” I asked “all of it?” He said yes, “all of it you do not need.” I told him to “fuck off.”
