You probably don't know it, but we've a "FIM Sand Races World Cup". In 2023 Todd Kellett became champion and this is the 2024 schedule.
2-4 February - Enduropale du Touquet Pas-de-Calais (FRA) - FFM
23-25 February - Enduro del Verano (ARG) - CAMOD
12-13 October - Weston Beach Race (GBR) - ACU
1-3 November - Bibione Sand Storm (ITA) - FMI
22-24 November - Monte Gordo Sand Experience (POR) - FMP
7-8 December - Ronde des Sables (FRA) - FFM
But are there beautiful beach races in the USA that are a yearly tradition? Or could Daytona Beach could be used once a year somewhere around Thanksgiving or Christmas be the location for a beach race? There is probably besides Touquet and Weston no other beaches with so much racing history.
PS: The championship could use a decent promoter who creates a website for example... But don't be fooled the French championship is still the most important one.
I raced moto on a Thai beach this year.
Didn’t know about the beach series. Now you have me thinking about an FIM beach race in Thailand 🤔
Daytona would NEVER happen. Between sea turtles and condos, it's a non-starter. You would have to go north to Flagler, North Peninsula State Park area, and then still fight the sea turtle people.
Only Beach race i know of in the United States is the Wildwood in New Jersey
Every once in awhile they have a race at Pismo Beach in California. But I think the last one was in 2007.

I did every WORCS race they had at Pismo. It wasn't really a beach race like the Euros do, it was more a dune race.
We have the Sierra Club.
No beach races here…the greenies don’t want anyone to have any fun…
\\...how bout something totally differernt and cool.

Used to beach race once a year
Yea, they used to have the wildwood beach race every year, which was pretty cool. Now they do this drag race/wannabe vintage/whatever thing it is.
Ah the sea turtle people. I will never forget after a race in Texas, I drove an extra 45 mins to the beach. I wasn't even allowed ti drive onto the beach because of the bIke in the truck, even though I had no intention of riding it. The reason, they said, was that there were sea turtles that I might run over. Nevermind all the cars and trucks they were allowing to drive up and down the beach. Nevermind the 4x4s crawling the dunes. The very next year, on that exact spot, they began building a 10 story condo building.
Turtles my ass.
Liberal environmentalists would lose there shit
There was an area in the desert in southern Utah it was all closed to dirt bikes to protect the desert tortoise…no dirt bikes we’d harm the turtles…then once day they build a 4 lane road right through it, and now subdivisions are popping up along the road. So stupid. Greenies fought tooth and nail to keep OHV’s out of there, then disappeared when they wanted a road and subdivisions? I don’t get it?
Gncc in Florida last year was pretty much a beach race..
If a beach race comes to America (I hope it does), I would bet money that the promoter would be Red Bull.
Protect the outdoors and never go outside. Fucking classic
Always thought if they could hold a one-off national at Pismo it would be the coolest motocross race ever
When you combine our environmental protection restraints and the lack of a motorsport culture I can't see it ever happening
Pit Row
What is it about those effin sea turtles that makes everyone lose their minds? It's like Christmas, Halloween and New Year's all rolled into one with the whitest, lamest, dorkiest weirdos on the planet losing their shit over these things.
Some of us white lame dorks care about keeping a species around that hung out with the dinos.
They only lay eggs in so many places.
Kill what lives in the ocean and we are next, food chain baby!
I think if they have been around that long and have survived asteroid strikes, volcanic eruptions, and ice ages…they’ll survive a beach race just fine…
Many organisms survived those things and then found the end of the line when running into humans with similar lines of thinking.
I'd be way more stoked seeing a turtle on the beach than a dirtbike.
Yeh I’m with the turtle people, go ride southwick if you want sand. Hopefully those stupid races never come here.
The city councilman, whose cousin is ceo of Big Bucks construction company, stands with you and all the gentlehearted environmentalist groups, to keep the beaches pristine...until the interest rates and raw materials prices go down and its time to start building. Then all of a sudden the environmentalist are focused on a different beach and the permits start flowing. Funny how that works isn't it?
I did the Havasu WORCS a couple times in 08 and 09', then decided to make that my comeback race after 10 years off in 2022. I forgot how bad that race hurts, one of if not the toughest race I've done physically.
You are right.
It’s probably silly to group people into these well defined categories, which are used to sway the collective consciousness.
I like riding my dirt bike. I don't like riding it so much that I make it harder for an endangered creature to continue existing.
It's OK to not ride dirt bikes in certain places. It's also ok to call bullshit/hypocrisy if condos get put up.
Beach races are a rare / non existent thing in the USA.
In the past 25 years or so, there have been really only two of note, one on the east coast and one on the west coast.
The first was the Wildwood, New Jersey and is sort of noted above, but is is now a vintage car and motorcycle drag race. It used used to be a moto event for a good 10 years, and alot of the Englistown guys raced it. it was a pretty cool deal, actually, and made for great photos with the roller coaster in the background. I am not sure why they switched over to the car deal, but the moto side of this race went away.
The second race was the event held once a year at Pismo Dunes in Cali - it was a WORCS race for a while, then just a one off deal. And while it was on Pismo dunes, it was not on the beach - they basically roped off a track in the dunes with orange tape. No idea why this went away, but I assume the state made it hard. its gone now.
There is the WORCS race in Havasu, that has some beach sections... but overall not much else in the USA....certainly not like the European beach races.....
