The euros need something to rally around. Let them have MXoN. America has everything else.

Hitting one of the euro ones is definitely on my bucket list, more so than a USA one.

They did, I was there. Hannah raced a Suzuki 125 in hellacious mud. USA won.

I know, I'll reword it to "brought it back there."

Never been, so I don't have an opinion.  My OP was more a commentary on how Steve seems to appreciate the crazy fans and overall craziness of the events in Europe, but when similar things happen at the races here in the US (people running on the track, acting stupid, blowing air horns and running chain saws, blowing up the winning bike, etc)   he rants against that type of behavior like an old man yelling at clouds.

And yes I did appreciate Marx putting up that Steve Hates America graphic on the screen when he was saying all this stuff LOL, and I do realize it's part of his shtick.

He didn’t do a good job explaining it but I think what he was trying to say is because the countries are all so close in Europe you get a melting pot of fans from all over and a lot of them come. When they are in the US you get some international fans but the crowd is largely USA fans.

I’ve been to 7 des nations. 5 in Europe and 2 in the US (both red bud), if I were to list them in order of experience the euro ones are the top 5 of the 7.

I’ve never understood the whole “reeeeedddddbuuuuuuddddd” thing, it’s a load of people off their heads on lite beer. It’s way way less wild than the euro events. But that’s just me, each to their own

Never been to a European one, and I believe his take, but I literally saw every reason he gave at Red Bud in 22. Leprechauns, smoke bombs, tons of costumes, etc.

Eli has a lot of fans.  They aren't vocal and social media controversial...just like him...but they come from every nation.  For whatever reasons...the track, the fans, the whole ball of wax, just ticked his boxes and his results showed that.  Damn proud of him.

Tomac liked Matterley and Matterley certainly liked Tomac. Wish he would have done a MXGP season as I think he’s more suited to the tracks here.

An event 250 years ago that smooth brains think is a retort for what is clearly a pisstake.

On topic, makes perfect sense that a foreign experience is more engaging. That’s just how it works.

It's an opinion. He's allowed that.

I know he has some controversial takes but even the US guys say it’s got more about it in Europe , I don’t think it’s a dig at any fans just a completely different atmosphere , as someone said above the American ones are probably 90 percent American fans which takes away from it , the amount of different coloured smoke bombs / flags , chainsaws etc at euro nations is what makes the atmosphere

If there is one thing i don't like about the Euro Gp's and MXON is the f.cking chainsaws.

In the beginning they where funny, but now the are everywhere the whole day, even at night on the camping.
At the Dutch GP in Arnhem they where godthanks not allowed.

I haven’t read through the whole thread yet (I’ll get there eventually) but I was at Matterley all 3 days but I didn’t camp. I was also at Red Bud in 18 and 22, didn’t camp there either. I’m sure I’m biased as an American, but I didn’t get the hype that is always talked about MXoN being just so much better over there. Euro fans scream and cheer a bit louder when the racing is actually going on than the US, but as soon as the checkered flag flew it seemed to die down and there wasn’t as much energy as Red Bud. Granted it may have been different in the paddock (I didn’t budge from my spot because I had a very solid spot on the fence and I wasn’t going to chance losing it) because it definitely seemed like more people made their way in there between motos than I remember at Red Bud nations, but during the moto intermissions there just wasn’t much energy..

Crazy fans in Europe = drunk but creative, hilarious, fun, generally add to the spectacle and want others to have a good time, etc....

Crazy fans in US = drunk but out of control, dangerous, throwing up on your shoes, stealing things, breaking things, and the general sense that fandom is defined by how absolutely stupid and obnoxious you can be and fuck you for being soft if you don't like it you can leave... Definitely does not add to the experience.

Major generalization, I know, but the two cultures are not the same and produce different atmospheres.

Here I was thinking all drunks were obnoxious. Turns out I just haven't had the privilege of experiencing classy European drunks. They're fun!

Cool, but, when will the MXoN leave Europe and the US? Would be cool to see one in South América, Australia or Asia... I think it could bring a bit of "flavor" to the event, and it would be a neutral battle zone for the anual AMA vs MXGP debate.

Matthes is right.

The experience of an European GP will blow your mind.

Euro fans, especially in france or Spain are hardcore and totally into it- some of the races that I went to, the crowd was so loud you could not hear the bikes…

Even Cooper Webb, on the same show, said European MXdNs are on another level than those in the US..................

You're not wrong, but think about any social setting.... there's some drunks that you'd definitely rather hang out with than others.

There's just something about the kind that come out at US sporting events that I find especially obnoxious.

I think it's better in Europe because DangerDork wasn't there... and USA should say no to him next year... support patriots and not faux patriots who quote human traffickers on the podium...
