I'm a Sexton fan but that sounds like an excuse because he couldnt beat jett this weekend. Because for weeks now hes been saying how good his bike is and how ccomfortable he has been. But now he blames the bike once jett comes back and beats him again
Chase is completely different when jett is on the gate. No bike setup or possibly even mindset may help tjat. Chase knows he has the speed to match and pass him, it’s all between the ears, sure bike setup may help, but how much, i’m not sure.
What do you want him to say? “I can’t beat Jett so might as well not try?” Of course he’s going to try and search for a way to go faster. That’s not blaming the bike or the team
Unfortunately they're not going to find anything, Chase has had all supercross and motocross to get those KYBs dialed in, Jett has had 3 weeks on a brand new platform bike and is already fast.
So Chase says “he” as in himself has work to do. That sounds to me like he owns up to himself needing to do more….

Or how about hes just honest and says he wasnt good enough today and has to be better next week like so many others have done before. Wasnt it webb in sx who was saying “the bike is fine I just need to be faster”? Whats wrong with that?
Trying to make it seem like the only two options he has are to either blame the bike or say since jett is back I might as well just give up is ridiculous. Why couldnt he just say “I was just a tick off the pace today of the 2 guys up front but I’m glad to come out of the first one with a 3rd and I should be back stronger next weekend”? He was riiight behind those two its not like it was a disaster.
Exactly!! Perfectly said
He couldn't get through the corners like Tomac or Jett. The bIke did not look stable, maybe he was missing his lines. Regardless they struggled. I hope they are better next round. I would love to see the 3 of them battle.
Him and AP both have been, and still are struggling with the bike in supercross, and yesterday they used supercross suspension.
I would think it's more demoralizing to get beat by Tomac.
He was comfortable outdoors. Don't know that they ever had the SX setup that dialed. SMX is basically SX so may just be picking up where they left off.
At the point he said “with the team” it can be inferred he is once again complaining about the bike. He could just simply say I have some work to do.
The proof that Chase was off was not Jett but rather Eli. Chase dominated Eli the last two MX rounds and couldn’t beat him either Moto in SMX. Chase didn’t decline that much in two weeks, he’s on a different package he isn’t dialed on . Pretty simple really.
Let's not forget the results Jett put up at SMX 1 last year. The Hunter brothers are my guys, and of course I want to jump on the "Chase crumbles in Jett's presence" campaign, but there's every chance its a Championship hangover ride, with Chase back to his best this weekend.
Of course, there's every chance that it isn't also.
Deegan said in every interview this weekend he was going to go back and work on starts with the team, maybe they went too far with gearring changes. It's almost like people just hear what they want to hear and twist it to fit their preconceived beliefs........
Ya the guy with the 2nd most SX wins ever, so demoralizing lol😂
Like Carmichael use to say back in the day.. I didn’t have nothing for him “STEWART” this weekend he whooped my butt straight up 🤣
I don’t think they have their SX setup even close to where it needs to be. But with that being said, Chase is a mental midget when Jett is on the line.
And I’m a Chase fan. I think he’s a fantastic rider and an all around good dude. But he should take some time and get his mentals figured out, in addition to that SX setup.
Jett is better than Chase. Chase will never be as fast as Jett consistently, doesn't matter what bike he's on. They were on the same bike and this was true. But this is also true for the rest of the field. Except maybe Deegan, which we've yet to see. So you have to respect Chase for trying. Him not willing to roll over and give up means something.
Pit Row
Is it mental? Or do the mistakes come as he's trying to run a pace he can't run consistently?
I think his bike is far better outdoors. People say it’s the Jett factor but he got beat by Eli and Hunta Moto 1 and that’s not happening on the regular in 2024 MX. Jett is also generational. Sexton is a bad ass on the 450.
I’d say him trying to run a pace that he isn’t comfortable doing is 100% a mental error.
He struggled with sx set up all year. The bike has suited him better outdoors than indoors so far. Is what it is. That's a pretty common problem for riders to have throughout history.
Was Jett on the 2025 Honda?
Chase said those guys just smoked him - I think that is pretty much being honest and saying he wasn’t on their level
Yes
Why is it an error? Why wouldn't he deliberately push himself to see if he can step up to Jett's level? I mean it's not like it's a huge gap.
You don't know your limits until you go past them.
If he is not happy with the suspension you think he can fix that without The Team?
Legit question... Was the move to KTM for Sexton a good or a bad move so far?
100% agree, But i guess in my mind, the difference is the Elite ones adapt to a bike during a race and make it work. Stew in the Yamaha days, Dungey at KTM etc..Its not like the bikes are all in transition across to a new era of modern dirtbikes like carburettors or 4 stroke to 2 stroke.
Considering Chase chose to go to a brand that has been designed by the MXGP team to suit outdoors. the talk from Webb prior about struggles of set up.
You'd think Chase would of known these issue was going to happen. Big question is.. Does sexton renew his KTM contract?
If he had Tomac's air fork it would have been gooder'.
