Literally the two best 450 guys you have right now. And have people already forgotten that Hymas had some dominant rides this year and beat your 'A' guy straight up? Yes, he obviously crashed out too many times, and Deegan is by far your most consistent 250 rider. But consistency over a series isn't as important in a one-weekend race. Just fingers crossed Hymas can stay on two wheels, and you'll have a high chance of winning again. That whole 'B Team' thing already sounds like an excuse if things don’t go your way lmao

Deegan hit the deck plenty this year so I’m not sure Hymas is more of a worry there. I don’t consider this a B team in the least and if they don’t win there’s no excuses from this American. They all are great riders and most importantly they WANT to be there and represent their country. Bonus fact, there’s no one big gigantic ego on the team and they’ll all gel well together.

Hymas will be fine. Maybe he won't beat de wolf but I wouldn't be surprised if he finished 2nd in MX2

I really haven't seen anyone calling this a B team so I'm not even sure where you're coming from.

Plenty in the other threads have called AP a B choice

We potentially had an A+ team but ended up with an A- team.

Not our strongest team but a hell of a lot better than last year and definitely not a B team

I agree.  I think they all have the right attitude and all seem like good dudes.

This is A- at the worst...  Not a B in my opinion.  I would have picked Tomac and Deegan, yes, but the reasons for AP and Hymas are clear and understood.  This team can win MXoN.  But so can about 5 others....  I doubt we'll see a dominate result by anyone this year, it should be a great race.

All 3 riders are top 5 in their class in my opinion. All are capable at winning their qualifiers. AP doesn’t have the pressure of being on the 250 and being underpowered like in 2018, also doesn’t have the pressure of being the MX1 guy and wearing the #1. I wanted Deegan and Tomac personally but this team is more than capable of winning. My only true worry is I think we will need AP’s MX1/MX3 moto score and if he doesn’t get a start that could cost us.

If this team has solid rides (no crashes and good starts) they could podium…and possibly even win (with some bad luck for the other contending teams).  I see a 4th or 5th being a more likely outcome…

Solid A- team….Tomac, Sexton, and Deegan would be the A team, and, as a team, would have been the favorites to win in my opinion…

B team?

Best team we could send, no drama, no nonsense, good riders, good health, good attitude and maybe a bit under rated.

Wasn't there a group that went after J Cooper when he was selected for our 250 guy?  How did that turn out?

As a personal thought, AP is not the same guy/racer that he was when he did MXDN on a 250.  Wiser, better, faster, more confident, more mature, better support and much less likely to make a mental error.  And his teammate will be there with him.

Hope he can come back on here and give us all the finger for doubting him as a pick for this team.

P.S. I wanted Eli, but that was before.

With The little drummer (drama) boy out who tried to get into Hymas's head by saying he took him out at Millville, what a joke. The whole trailer park entourage I say good riddance. AP riding so much better than ever, Hymas showing incredible speed at times, and Chase Sexton never been better and a great Champion. No Drama, and I think they will be a team and an A team! Go USA!

I do feel like Hymas can take a bit more emotion out of it and maybe can ride smarter if we just need a solid result Sunday, I think Deegan can get himself into trouble with that sometimes but I also think its why he is so successful.

I think Chase has just as much a chance to win as the other big hitters. If that final moto AP, Chase, Jett and Hunter are together battling it out like the nationals would be pretty cool.

Fair enough. I agree with the OP. B team is a stretch

I hope Hymas has a breakout performance and absolutely crushes it over there.

I’d also like to see AP bust out the Alan Jackson Chattahoochee gear again.

I think that AP was a great choice and he wants to prove himself more that any other guy out there right now. He sounds much more motivated to take that step up in speed to be a threat to win. And That is the type of rider I think will do well at a race like the MXON. Sexton is also motivated to go over and do well.  Hopefully they all stay up. And we see some great battles.

…anyone who claims the AMA is sending a so called “B team” to the MXoN seem be the disappointed fanboys of a certain rider…

Same, that gear was awesome, or he could run Toby Keith tribute gear?

Obviously Tomac's ceiling is higher but Plessinger beat him in all 4 motos so far?

Hymas is on an upwards trend right now.    I think that whoever is more motivated to do well at that race is the guy that will do better. Out of  Hymas,Kitchen and Deegan , I feel like they are  close to each other in speed when everything goes smoothly  for them. Maybe Deegan was playing it a little safe since he had the points lead later in the year.  Or maybe those 2 stepped it up a little and got closer to him. Either way  out of those 3 guys I would take whichever one wanted to go the most.

This race has a different set of motivations for a rider. There are not any big prizes to win. It is pride of Country and the want to win that are the motivators for this race.   That is why I believe a racer that want to be there, and has shown they are still hungry this late in the season for wins, is the rider that will be the best for the team.  That gives them the best shot at winning.  One of these guys giving their best, is better than another with better credentials that doesn't want to be there for whatever reason they have for not wanting or being able to go.

It looks like all of the guys on the team fought to get onto it.  And that's what it takes to win a race like the MXON.

I can say that I am happy with the section of riders they have. It might not be every bodies first choice for guys. But I feel like it is  the best choice of guys to go this year.

I think that a lot of people forget how different the MXON is from other races. The only MXON I have been to, I was renting my toy hauler to Ireland. And it was such an amazing thing to be a part of. I went to Budd's  for the National that year with guys racing it as well as other rounds for years. And its just such a different event, it's hard to put into words.  The Team tactics and working together is unlike any other MX race.

All of you stop playing the B team mentality.

You have the two fastest USA 450 riders and the almost fastest USA 250 rider.

THIS IS AS "A" TEAM AS YOU CAN GET.

I agree that its the best team for this year.    Would I have liked to see Tomac return to racing and be right at the level he was before he got hurt? Of course. And if that was the case I would   have wanted him to go, IF he was as into going as AP.   I am only saying that I can understand that people would have liked to see a team of an on his game Tomac and Deegan and Sexton .  And You could argue that it may be a stronger team in a perfect world. I can understand why people might feel that way.

And a similar feeling about Deegan,   Hymas wants to go. Deegan has some things that kept him from going, so to me. The best guy for the race is Hymas. He has been close to Deegan and like I've said multiple times. This race needs people to be motivated to race . If a guy is feeling burnt out or recovering from an injury , whatever the reasoning.  I think that this is the best team because they all want to be there, and  all can be the fastest guy in their class on a good day. We just need them to have a good day and that will give the US team its best shot.

As it is with the way Tomac rode, and Deegan having that hardwear getting removed. Its crazy to think that AP and Hymas would not be better choices.  I think that people are just bummed out that the perfect MXON team almost never happens for the US.
