They need get into atleast 2018 era and get an electric start and they would have a great package then.

^ You can start a warm YZ125 with your index finger on the first try. It weighs several pounds less without a battery. On a small-bore 2-stroke, that's a big deal!

A better idea would be for KTM to embrace the weight savings and drop the e-start.

It sounds like maybe they've actually made some headway on the mapping and run quality over the 23/24 bikes.  Sure hope so.

Yes, please report back.  I'm looking at getting one as well.  I am probably 90% but wouldn't mind some first hand reinforcement for my decision. 😎

They also raved about the 23’ 250sx and 300, which both make less power then any prior 250sx and weight considerably more but to each their own. After owning and racing 250sx for over a decade the tbi will be my last two stroke. End of a era.

Got a small ride on it today, 2x 15 min motos mainly running it in but got a bit of a feel for it. I bought it as a play/practice bIke to my 350 and im bloody glad i did.

I had a 2017 150 a few years ago and this runs better and has more power than that. Im 90-95kg so definitely not the ideal weight for it but I was very impressed with how well it pulled me up some decent hills. How it'll go in deep sand which i ride alot of we still have to find out.

But first impressions are very good, im looking forward to getting the suspension setup for my weight and putting more hours on it.

I have a 25 300sx and there’s no lack of power…super smooth and super fast.  My bike prior was a yz 250 2t and my Ktm is leaps and bounds a better machine

Pretty sure the KTM SX 2 strokes didn't get the button until 2023.

I thought it had been on the 250/300 just not the 125/150

Hell you might be right. I know we waited for the 23 husky to hit the floor with the button and fuel injection. That thing was a turd.

Sure can, still isn’t fun to kickstart when you can just push a button.

This. It was on their two strokes in 2018 just not the 125’s.

Yep. Two strokes still had them in 2018, just not all of them.

Why? It's basically the same as a 2006, with 2005 having the same frame/motor, but different forks/shocks, and very slight engine differences.

Was mapping changed for 25 (Excluding the 150)? None of the press releases mentioned anything about this.

Do it, i really dont think you will be disappointed. If you are lIke me and your main concern is the tbi on the 150 then don't be worried, this thing runs smooth and strong. And it definitely still feels lIke a 2 stroke, when it comes on it is very impressive.

When it comes to 2 stroke 125's nothing beats the lightness and plush suspension of the yz.

I wish Ktm did a better job of informing their clients when new updates are released. I bought my 24 300sx in November, in June while at mammoth I swung by the Ktm support tent to ask if there was anything new, they plugged me in and I was “several” maps behind. They have really figured this two smoke efi stuff out, I felt my 23 300sx was about 95% as good as my carb 300, this latest map on the 24 runs so incredible. Luckily I sold the 22 300 to a friend so I can still rip it to test, I hopped back on it and the EFI is hands down better now.

So, I've been toying with the idea of picking up a 125/150 just for kicks. I stumbled upon this thread and that MXA test, and after experiencing the EFI improvements firsthand, I was sold on getting that TC150 my dealer had. I called up the shop Saturday morning, damnit, the sales department isn’t open on weekends . Then, it started raining—because why not? I've lived in Humboldt County for 22 years, and I can count on one hand the times we've gotten rain in August.

I’ve got a 2:40 lap track at my place, but it’s been bone dry since June. By 5 PM, the rain was still coming down, and my track was suddenly game-on for Sunday. So, naturally, I jumped in the skid steer and pushed topsoil around until the sun set. Fast forward to 8:45 PM, and I’m sitting there, realizing that life simply isn't complete without a 125/150. My track is freshly disced, my bone-dry topsoil is soaking up the 1.25” of surprise rain, and here I am with a perfectly tuned 300SX that should do the job... but then there’s Facebook Marketplace.

At 9:23 PM, I spot a 2022 TC125 for sale—$5,500 and only eight hours on it. I consult my wife and explain the situation, she understands and says go! By 9:45, I’m out of my pajamas, on the road, and back home by 10:25 with a practically brand-new '22 TC125 in my kitchen breezeway. Sunday came and went, I've been riding dirt bikes since 1988, I’ve never had more fun than I just did ripping around on a modern-era 125 two-stroke.IMG 0417 1

For anyone interested i got a bit more time on the 150 today. Put a heavier rear spring for my weight but otherwise it's stock.

Was riding a deep sand corner track and ill say im impressed. As long as i did my part and worked the shifter 100 times per lap then it was awesome. Im well above the target weight for this bike but there's just something about holding a small bore 2 stroke wide open that cant be found anywhere else.
