Flat - we can agree to disagree cause obviously we have different opinions. I’m just saying this new “ride like Jett or go home” thing the sport is pushing is kind of silly to me. There are lots of ways to go fast.

I actually agree with you there.  Dungey vs RV  2011 outdoors is a good indicator of that.

He'll probably make more bonus money in the 250 class. This could likely be a factor for him.

There is something to be said about perspective...  The general perspective is that Jett is so untouchable because he goes that fast while making it look so easy.  When in reality, if he's pushing, he's just as on edge as everyone else.

Is Deegs more like Tomac and Stewart than he is Jett and Everts for example?  I think so, yes.  Can he make it work?  I think he can, but none of us knows for sure until it happens...

I think he already is if you watch closely.

He may be dominating the Mx series but let’s remember he hasn’t won a SX or MX titles. Only championship he’s one is the SMX playoff title. If he was a multi-time champion in either SX/MX  250class then I consider moving him up. Let’s wait to see if he can get this outdoor championship locked up 1st before taking about 450 class.

Winning race overalls yes but he is not dominating by wining all motos anything like Jett dominated last year or El chupacabra Blake Baggett did.

I think that fully depends on the track. All three are close

I agree he looks much more in control than last year.

Does Star Yamaha even have room (and $$) for another 450 in 25

I will never uunderstand everyone in this sports constantly pushing and bitching people need to move up to 450's as fast as ppossible. Im fine with if every rider who has winning speed staying in the 250 class until they hit 2-4 titles. 2 sx and a mx title or 2 then move up. I swear this sport brings in riders and spits them out faster then any other sport. These guys need to make as much money as possible not only that give them some real time to mature and if thats staying down then im all for it. Id like to seek Deeg knock out 2 sx and 2 mx titles then move up. I still think it would have been a good idea to leave hunter in 250 sx grab the extra title then jump into 450 outdoors like jett did.

The window of “Prime” athletic years in MX/SX is a lot shorter than most normal sports. If you can be a good 450 rider in those years, you’ll make a considerably larger amount of money vs racing a regional series your whole career. Dunge and Villo were able to clock out and retire at 26-27 from doing exactly that.

I guess you have to be up close and see this guy ain’t Jett but he’s got the drive. Reminds me of Stew with the wild scrubs and driving in deep. NO FEAR . He needs more power

Things evolve. There was a time where you could go ”fast” sitting the whole lap on your 60’s BSA 500cc to.

Just as bikes evolve, so does everything else, and if someone raised the bar for how to ride, it’s just for the other riders to adapt to that. Just like the riders started to train after RC raised the bar there.

You will have a hard time beating the most perfect rider of this era while doing a worse job on the bike just saying.. Just listen to Herlings praising Jetts riding style.

Agree with riders staying in the 250 class as long as they want, if the small bore suits someone they should keep riding them. I grew up a long time ago, when nearly everyone wanted to get to the 500 class asap, but I totally understand riding whatever class fits you best. Times change..

IF he wants to go 450, the way Jett did it is a solid plan. Do a half season of SX on a 250, then get a full season of outdoors on the 450. That seems way better than doing a 450 debut at Anaheim 1, trying to figure out how to ride a 450 indoors and going 450 outdoors potentially beat up.

The Jett plan seems a good one to copy IMO.

2025 - 250 SX. Win a title

2025 - 250 MX. If he wraps up title early bump him up to 450s for a taste.

2026 - 250 SX on opposite coast. Grab the other title.

2026 - 450 MX fulltime.

I think for a rider who is clearly more suited to outdoors the Jett plan is ideal. If Deegan jumped up now his 250 career would look pretty average compared to what we know he can deliver. I dont think he would be a 450 threat immediately to justify it.

I’ve always believed amateur success doesn’t mean anything once you go pro, much like 250 class titles don’t mean much once you’re in the premier class, however they do mean a lot to the team and sponsors.

Remembering that Deegan hasn’t won a major title yet, (don’t @ me with the SMX sideshow), I’m sure Star is super keen to keep him on a 250 for all next year with the aim of wrapping up the big wins.

Besides the important 450 attributes of experience and mentality, it’d be very easy for Star to see where Haiden’s at speed wise on a 450. All they have to do is throw him on a team bike at the practice track and compare his average lap speed over a moto to Tomac, Webb or Cooper. One lap speed doesn’t matter, but if he can consistently run a clean pace within the realm of those three, then the only question is maturity.

Jumping up too early may actually hinder progression, and there’s no great reason, at this stage, for Star or Deegan to risk that. My bet is he stays 250 for all of 2025, then the big question is does he dive into 450 SX in 2026 or wait for Outdoors?

Stay in 250s? For what? The pinacle of the sport is 450s, he could have a career ending injury tomorrow. Move up, he has proved he can beat the Cameron Mcadoos and Jordon Smiths of this world.

I mean… I remember when winning a supercross title was pretty important to securing a 450 ride.

Unless you’ve been in the class for many years*

On cookseys latest video, he said he’s heard rumors that cr22 and haiden/brian are teaming up to make a team.

He's not ready for 450 sx by any means. Whats the rush? Careers are gping into their 30's now.

I can see the sense in moving Deegan up to 450 next year. When you're young you learn quickly and adapt to new baselines fast. Deegan seems to be the type of person who will just step up and figure things out when needed, but that will change as he gets older. Better to capitalize on it now, keep challenging him as much as possible, and maximize the learning he can get before a huge swath of riders retire.

I say if he gets the sx title next year then he should move up early race 450 outdoors like Jett did and right into 450 sx 2026.

Race what the one paying you to race says you have a job doing.

When its right and the job and offer is there do it.

Supply and demand.

AC was not physically mature. Adams seems ready. He will gain nothing by staying amateur another year.

He needs another full year in 250s. Kid has been on the verge of crashing his fucking brains out multiple times and putting him on a faster bike (and we know he’ll be able to push a 450 to the edge) is only going to magnify the opportunity of that happening. Just let him learn consistency and he’ll go 450 in ‘26.

Yes he’s been on the edge it seems, but this year his technique has improved a lot, he’s more smooth, but still very agro, while still having the deegs style but less looking like he's going to crash, its still there, but not as much

RC has stated in numerous interviews that he rushed the transition to the premier class and wished he stayed down another year.
Is the AMA still bumping riders out of 250 SX after 2 regional titles?
