You can only race 2 classes and a lot of those 85 riders qualified in more than 2. So between dropping classes, others getting hurt, some not sending their money in, quite a few alternates get selected. Those alternates are also selected through a power ranking system based on a average with your regional finish and the number of racers from that regional.

I qualified in 1 class that the 3rd moto was pouring rain and did not bother to race the final moto in the other class and sent in the $ for both anyway and made it in both classes.
Lots of people will race 4 classes at the regional plus race in 2 or even 3 areas so there is always alternates getting in.
I believe 5 alternates in each class that had not made it in can still sign up and come and ride practice hoping someone crashes in practice opening up a slot and they can be one of the ones that gets bumped up.
Anybody know why practice is on hold?

He absolutely did not qualify. It is insane he is going to race 2 classes at LL with these results. Probably due to the 85 kids being able to race like 4-6 different classes depending on age so alot of alternates get in.
Also it's fucking nuts he had 12! chances....TWELVE!....
I’m still wondering why chad decided to pull him off at some of the qualifiers. Maybe there was a chance for him to gain a few positions. But he was on the alternate list and most likely some people didn’t show up or something else. I hope he gets decent results.
