Not sure how familiar you guys are with Millcreek but it was a track in Pell City Alabama and held Lorretta Lynn Qualifiers for a longgg time. It shut down a few years ago and they built houses on the property.
They posted that they’re making a new facility at Barber Motorsports Park which is the most beautiful race track ive been too. It host Indycar, Moto America and all sorts of Road Racing races. . It also has a badass racing museum track side.

That’s awesome! Barber is an incredible place for a moto head to get lost at for a day.
Awesome news!!! Thanks for sharing, Mill Creek was a great place, especially when prepped.
I'd have to predict that if it will be on George Barber's land that it will not be a half hearted attempt at an mx track.
possible national could be at this place if the track is good enough. didn't they talk about that like 15-20 years ago?

I hope and trust this track/facility will host round 1 or 2 of 2025 outdoor MX series. First class facility if you have not been there. The massive elevation change (if built correctly on 800 acres) and infrastructure would make it the Embassy Suites of MX facilities. Fingers crossed.
Haven't you heard? The south is too hot for motocross.
Knowing how they do things at Barber's it very well could be the premier mx facility in the US !!
But aren't AMA Motocross Nationals illegal in the southern states ?
They have had a vintage MX event there for years - mostly just a grass track type deal. It was / is part of the Barber October Vintage festival but is kind of a one off deal. This would be cool if it were a more full time track, for sure. The Barber facility is very carefully landscaped, and so a full time MX Track is tough at this place, given the standards of Mr. Barber, but it was talked about for several years.
Yes they have! And if it's on the property it should be first class. This October will be the vintage festival that I go to, and will check it out
LOL. I did state round 1 or 2.
If it’s at Barber, it will be correct
Earliest would be 2026, doubt they could build the track, get it dialed, agree to contract terms etc. etc. in such a short time
This is incredible, and a long time coming of welcome news!
Recall news of RC scoping out BMP back in 2007 timeframe to layout a track to host MXDN, or something similar to that.
Hoping this track will be similar to Road Atlanta, but even better 50 years later!
Just so everyone is clear on this.

This track is being laid out for the annual AHRMA Barber Vintage Fest. It's being designed with vintage bikes from the 60's - 90's in mind. No whoop pads, no gapped jumps, and the only big air will happen if you pull a vintage guy's finger.
That's not to say that one day there won't be an outdoor national at Barber's because the property is perfect for one. But unless they can air condition the track or hold a race before May or after October the current organizers have deemed the Deep South off limits to the Nationals. Ignore the annual weeklong August $weat Fest 200 miles up the road. That heat is a$$eptable.
Barber is amazing! The museum is a must see. The entire facility is pristine. It is the Augusta National of motorsports facilities. Golf people will understand…
If its built to the usual Barber standards it will be an amazing place.
Been there twice, once for bikes and once for cars. Great place and museum is something to behold. Rode around track on street bike also when offered during bike races. Highly recommend a visit if you’re ever close.
Great place for a race.
It would be amazing if they could host an AMA National there once a year ala Loretta's. Would make a spectacular season finale.
Pit Row
Oh so they are laying out and building a track just for the vintage MX races this year? Usually it was just a grass track laid out sort of thing like Mid Ohio always has been.
Might have to see if I can slap something together to go race this year always wanted to do it.
Yep! No parking lot track this year. I think they got tired of hearing the motocrossers bitch about having to ride in a parking lot while the road racers had a country club track to race on.
hope they aren’t just letting the track rot after the vintage race. I imagine they won’t but it would be really cool just to have another place to ride some time
For a normal person I would say true. But George Barber is a powerful and wealthy man who has been trying to make this happen for over a decade. I would be willing to bet this track wouldn't be getting built if it wasn't going to be national caliber and it wouldn't surprise me if the ball isn't already in motion
When they complain about 92 being to hot it seems the South will never get another national?
In 2007 we had our Loretta Lynn's Mideast Regional Qualifier at Mid Ohio. They built an actual motocross track just for the LLRQ right next to the road course while the Porsche Cup cars were testing. I snuck up in one of the flaggers stand and watched the cars run on track quite a bit that weekend. I want to say there were some Acura defensive driving classes or something else going on too over there. Running a motocross race at a car racing facility makes total sense. The vibe, the facilities, it just fits.
Reminds me of the old road Atlanta track.
For sure my favorite track. I really enjoyed riding there back in the day.
100% correct..
Apparently not too hot for a big amateur race though. Those pros just can’t take the heat I guess. Meanwhile, in Hurricane Mills, TN…
Love me some Barber...
Yeah, that doesn't tell the story. More like 107-108 yesterday with humidity figured in. Supposed to be a little hotter today.
