Worked out pretty good racing at Glen Helen today! I have a '24 yz250f and I'll say there really close. I definately need a heavier shock spring and harder seat foam. I think Keefer's podcast is spot on. The only harshness I felt was acceleration chop but I'm on too soft of spring and I didnt touch suspension settings.

My biggest surprises where how connected the throttle was to the rear tire and the amazing cornering ability!

I will be selling the Yamaha and keeping this.

I had to run an X at tbe races today because I didnt have numbers yet.

Pretty sweet. Did you break it in during practice before the race? I respect buying a bike and racing it the next day.    How much...

How much do you weigh?

I did a few heat cycles and then rode practice easy. During the motos I stayed in the midrange mostly where the bike seems to work really well.

I weigh 240 right now but I have not been riding, typically I am 220 which Ill get back to.

Agility, straight line stability, power.... How do you rate it compare to your yamaha ?

I was hoping you'd say you just sent it full throttle right away. Mostly kidding.

Okay, that makes sense, I am 165, so hoping the stock springs are stiff enough. I went up a rate on both shock and springs for the 2024.

Anybody know if the rear shock is the same, I’d bet it takes same spring.  My 23 has a racetech big guy rear spring I’d like to hang on to and reuse.  I think in the next week or two I’m going to dig out all my stock parts and stick them back on my 23.  Shift lever, brake pedal, set pegs etc.  Then put my 23 on Facebook marketplace and sift through the scammers and try to get it sold.  I’d like to have a 25 by end of summer.

I read somewhere that it would not work. It said if you have an A kit shock try to sell it because the reservoir was at a different location. The spring probably will I would bet. They also said the shock removed easily out the right side.

I have plenty of time to figure out the rear spring.  It will be a month or two before I get a 25.  I’m going to put all the stock stuff back on my 23 and sell it. Even going to put stock tires back on it and keep my Metzeles’s.  Don’t laugh at my old school Metzeler’s. They do just fine.  Keefer even tested them lol.

The manual for the 25 is up on Honda's website. The shock shows the same installed length as the 23/24 on the 25, so the springs should not be hard to find if you don't have one. One thing though, it shows a much lighter shock spring on the 450. It went to a lighter spring which let's me know the linkage ratio is most likely different.

That is a hard question to answer because I did not ride them back to back. I rode the yamaha 2 weeks ago and by memory close enough that I didn't think that much difference.

I will go out on a limb and say that the Yamaha may have a wider power spread by a little and the Honda has a more solid feel as you are turning into a corner. I did drop the forks on the Honda right after practice as it turned really quick and my yamaha still has the forks at the stock height. Stability for me was similar but I was impressed with the Honda coming down the choppy hills at GH.

The honda does sound way better, I hate how the yamaha sounds. Just that alone makes me happy to switch bikes.

450f 2025 have different head angle to 24 model and its now less steep. Also new rear spring really is 52N as 24 model had 56N so linkage/swingarm is different. Also WE model have different suspension settings.

I saw that on Honda's site. The fitted length shows to be the same, so springs should not be hard to find.

I ordered a heavier spring for a '24, I am hoping it fits. Thanks for the info.

How is the new filterbox design in your opinion? With the way they tilted the filter back sand could fall in pretty easy when you remove the filter I would think.

Filter is flat/ angled backwards. No worries of sand or dirt getting in there

That’s great. I like how it’s easy to keep water and dirt out of the air box on Hondas, at least relative to the Yamaha. I have the twin air powerflow kit and wash cover. I’ll get the same for the 25. I trust the seal way more with a screw than a little metal clip.

Spring worked, I did go 1 rate lighter than Race Tech website noted for a '24 and it worked out to 30mm static sag with 105mm loaded sag.

I did note one thing while I was changing the spring, I removed the sub frame (I understand you don't have to) and when putting the subframe back on I could start 3 of the bolts by hand and I had to tug on the subframe to get the fourth bolt in. I would say it's about half the hole off on the last hole when you have the other three bolts in. I was surprised because i had assumed Honda had the best quality control.

Picked mine up today. Now I start the process of seeing what transfers over from my 22.
I installed the twin air power flow kit on my 22 because that wire clip holding down the air filter scared the crap out of me.
This new air filter and box seems much better. The wire clip pretty much can’t come undone as long as the black plastic holder is bolted in .

I hope they build an all new engine to go in the all new chassis!  I really like the current generation, but it could do with more power and torque to compete with the rest of the field, especially with triumph entering the picture, which I guess is part of Hondas motivation to bring forward the update 1 year (if it happens).

Not sure how much the 250 has changed since 2018 . But I did buy a 2018 brand new after they made the big revisions . Coming off a yamaha 250f I had to learn to ride it . Because honestly the 250 honda needed to be ridden like a 2 stroke.  Once i figured it out , uhhhhmazing. Best bike I've ever owned.  But left me stranded several times due to battery issues.

How do you feel about the seal? I will probably still get a TwinAir kit, but that looks nice.

Is the filter angled down? Hoping so, so when you pull it dirt does not go into the airbox. How easy would it be to clean out the airbox on the clean side, with the backfire screen gone?

Yep the filter is angled so dirt drops away from the intake. The entire box appears very easy to clean out . With the more open airflow, I expect it to get more dirt inside compared to the last model. I do think it’s sealed very well but in the future I’ll probably get the power flow kit just because I like the design of the filters better. Here’s a shot of the plastic cover that goes behind the number plate. When this piece is bolted on, the clip holding the air filter can’t open. ( air filter was removed prior to the picture)

All of yall posting your 250s made me get antsy. I couldn’t wait until the end of July, so I started calling around more this morning and found one 2hrs away. Ended up getting it cheaper by about $500, $7800 OTD

I-69 Motorsports in Tennessee. The other dealer that quoted me $8350 was Bowles Garage in Mississippi

Will 2025 side panels fit to 2024 bikes?

Testing 2025 starting but embargo to day 17 is stupid.

We're assuming the same thing, just 1 and we won't see it for a bit.

Unlike last year when we got 4 450RWE

I wondered that as well, the extra contact patches and grip they’ve built in would be useful.

Keefer posted a gopro of him riding the '25 450 earlier (no comment on the bike in it so I'd guess it gets around the embargo). Someone asked under there and he's confirmed the shrouds and side panels don't fit older gen. Just for info.
