I stand to be corrected but Gavin Towers hardly breaks the top 20 in the USA so what's the big deal going over to the MXGP's?
He would be better off grinding in the USA series if he thinks this is a career he should pursue.

He's never raced a pro race here, he crashed out the first moto at Ironman last year. He had the opportunity to race a professional series overseas. He's a better outdoor rider than a SX rider. This is good for his development and he doesn't have to dig in his pocket to do it. Plus it's another American on the GP stage.
Isn't he racing EMX250 which is the amateur series? MX2 is the equivalent to our 250 class in Pro Motocross

EMX250 is the European championship, MX2 is the World championship.
He`s usually racing EMX250, but seems like he`s racing in the MX2 class next weekend, since there`s no EMX250 races.

Jack Chambers is another American racing MX2 full time . He's been a 14th to 18th place guy so far .
Amateurs? Well, not really...must be one hell of a young amateurs then :D Cas Valk fastest lap time in EMX250 moto1 was faster than Prado MXGP moto2... :D

Not this year, he did GPs last year and this year, and was solid at the MXoN for Puerto Rico too
Go get 'em kid! Hope he enjoys the experience, Jack sure seems to be having fun. Bader Manneh was average too, but had a career. Its cool when Americans do the GPs.
Chambers rode 5 AMA 250 outdoors races in 2021 and 2022 and never scored a point. Take from it what you want...
He was an 18th to 20th guy in MX2 last year and 13th to 15th place guy so far this year. You could argue steady improvement.

Must admit, I hadn't heard of him till this year but good luck to him. It's a huge step to come over and change your whole lifestyle to race a new series, I'll be watching his progress. Always good to see US riders bite the bullet and come out of their comfort zone.
It was raining before 1st MXGP moto, 2nd moto was 3 hours later and track was pretty dry in the sun. So yeah, I know what I've seen...

Yup, my mistake.
The 250/MX2 classes are a farce. Unless you have a factory bike in the USA or Europe you won't get a top ten or even top fifteen. Production rule means nothing in the USA.
And you still can't understand that they were two different race tracks....
Jan Pancar (this year already in MXGP) had some top 10 finishes in MX2 in 2023 and 2022 with full privateer effort. Only he and his dad as a team.
Well I guess I stand corrected, privateer bikes are just as competitive as factory bikes in the 250/MX2 class. Thanks!
Quick count in my head there are 20 factory bikes in the 250 class in the US, plus another 6-8 factory supported satellite team bikes. That being the case I agree it is hard for a privateer to get into the top 10. But when we're talking about the 29th best rider is it the bike or the rider keeping them out of the top 10?
They just need to drop a tooth on the rear sprocket…
Quentin Prugnieres, Jens Walvoort and Oriol Oliver have all been inside the top 10 on privateer bikes this year already. Jack Chambers, Valerio Lata, Cas Valk and others have been in the top 15 on privateer bikes as well. Would they all love to be on Factory KTM and doing better, sure. But to say that you cant get a top 10 or 15 is a ridiculous take.
I am not going to stretch my legs over schemantics. If you are on a privateer in the 250/MX2 class I believe it is an obvious disadvantage, how is that? Can you get a top ten? Sure, you can, but you can drive your car with your feet too, it ain't easy.
Always like seeing more US riders overseas racing MXGPs. Seems like more could go as you don’t see full gates most of the time. Yes - that would take a team and money, but would be great to see!!
