it could be like tht for anyone really tht made an impact on a sport , me personally dunge & RV was when I was in high school & back then I wasent in the mindset like i am now , so I was a huge super fan on dunge & for the sport of motocross RV is 1 of the athletes I wish I could’ve gotten to appreciate more in his prime because of my super fandom of another athlete ( dunge ) 

When I was in high school, eli and chase were battling in sx, then after i graduated, they were battling to the death in mx.

Do you think when eli retires, he’s still quiet for a little bit and then start becoming more like RV is now?

I think (and hope) him being so quiet is part of his racing style. Keeping to himself is a way of playing head games with others. 

But two years ago when he was dominating everything he appeared to be more vocal on the podium and during interviews so I think he does want to spill it all once he hangs his boots up. He will have some awesome stories to tell too. 

yeaaa prolly so , I could see him coming out with some podcasts in the near future 

How long will the podcast with gypsy be you think? I think it would need to be two parts, 3+ hours each.

Dungey tried to get back in the industry—even noted MN weather was no bueno. Honda did not work out and it seems KTM only wanted him as a filler with no corporate gig. 
 

Tomac is friendly and engaging—-away from the track—so maybe we will see him around. He and John could have a killer podcast platform. Alas, gentlemanly racing GT3’s around the billionaire crowd can assuredly be fun, as well. 🏁

In the past I wasn’t a fan of Gypsy but he’s been doing an incredible job lately 

Gypsy is my favorite podcast. I never listened to podcast ever. When bubba started his I tuned in. It then lead me to Gypsy. I’m a huge fan now. I drive a lot for work so when a new one drops I’m excited. Saw Dungey pop up this morning and was like yesssss lol

Gypsy seems like a really cool dude, but I definitely lost respect for him after his Privateer hot take.

I grew up racing with Eli (well we raced on the same track at the same time, it was never much of a race between him and I) and he was always quiet by nature.

Soft spoken but well spoken, always smiled, never made you feel less than despite his insane ability on a dirt bike.

Also remember he has a solid family right behind him and has never been “forced” into any of this….

I don’t think Eli will fade into any more or less obscurity than he is right now. I just see him enjoying a quiet life on his ranch with this family, but certainly not fading into the shadows to not be heard from again….

I was the same, I'd avoid everything he put out. Then I started watching some, and there's some good bits from riders in there. Gypsy himself can be a bit pretentious, and seems to love the sound of his own voice. I love when he thinks he's being all deep about the most basic shit ever.

With those things said, I don't think he's a bad person or anything, and I'm sure he's a pretty cool dude.

I had a hard time with Gypsy for awhile but he seems to have refined most of what was annoying me and does get the guys to talk.

When both rv and dunge were riding you never would have thought that when both retired that rv would be the one to come out of his shell the most and be around the sport more. Hopefully dunge can get to that point soon too where like rv he can just show up to a vet race, drink some beers, talk some shit, and not care about where he finishes!
 

The sport would be a better place with more dunge around doing vet stuff and just shooting the shit. I really hope eli will come out of his shell too after he retires. Js7 was completely gone for years and now you couldnt pay to keep him away, its awesome. Hopefully this interview is dunges reintroduction and hes ready to come back around more. I think it was respectful that he left a lot of room for the next guys to come up and not be overshadowed, its been long enough now though its time imo.

I think if Dunge came out and bought his own bike, pick your brand, the corporate world would then try to latch on. I get Dunge not wanting to get on a plane every week though. 

He needs to be in the industry somehow. There is just too much in his brain to just leave there.

We’ve all got opinions , some will agree some won’t , don’t judge him on one opinion he’s done some unreal podcasts 👍

That 2015/2016 ktm 450 was unreal. 

You guys do remember that he raced the nationals after 5 years away, right?   

Pretty cool to hear about the balance in life he talked about. And also about how he just focused on racing and comparing guys today to all these distractions like selling tshirts and worrying about making 5-10k when if they would focus 100% they would be making 100k in a night 

As much as i admire Dungey.

To some riders, selling merchandise may just be the work / life balance they need.

We are all different.

He’s a great person for any young rider to look up to. We meet him and his brother at a yard house in Temecula. Gave my 8 year son a handshake and talked to him untill his name was called to be seated. Two really cool genuine people

I dont think so. Pretty sure Eli will be gone and not look back. RV always looked like he had more to say but kept it buttoned up. Eli looks like he couldn't give a hoot
