So Casey Cochran is Husky's factory team effort for 250's this year.  Sounds crazy...

But I just picked him up in fantasy and had to drop RJ.  Gutted for RJ, he had a great shot at this title.

Pala Raceway's opening could have happened a lot earlier, but the guys doing it sifted the dirt down several feet to remove the rocks before going live. Believe me, there are fewer rocks at Fox Raceway than anywhere else in California. This must simply be a stray basketball that moved up.

As I understand it, most of the elevation change at that track is artificial. The hillside where the Fox viewer area usually rests is made of thousands of yards of dumped dirt. The rocks they pulled from the rest of the track must be under that.

A pretty eventful press day....between this and the no flagger pileup that happened with Craig, Robin, McElrath and Marchbanks that hopefully no one got hurt in...

Do you have a link for the pile up incident?

He was a top 3 anyways...  But now the 5 true chip contenders is down to 4.  Vialle, Kitchen, Deegan and Shimoda.  Will be some others with podiums and even likely a few wins, but those 4 (used to include RJ) will be the ones in the points chase for the title.

Just my opinion.

I had Vialle sneaking past RJ by 5-7 points before this.

The size of a basketball??...how's does that happen?...

I believe that would make it a boulder, not a rock

Idk Falcon… I just watched Josh Mosiman’s on board from yesterday and there were rocks everywhere. I was surprised because there were almost no rocks to be found when I was there last. Although, that was 13 years ago.

As in use a mechanical rock picker? They're common for farmers with rocky land. Seems like a good idea to me.

Matterley Basin had tons of rocks in it, Steve Dixon  sifted the lot and used the rocks to put in loads of hard standing and roads.

Its one of the reasons it hasnt changed much, when they do, they pull the stones out.

Get well soon RJ.  Total bummer, but unfortunately not surprising when MXSports cheaped out and selected a practice track built on flat ground  for the National schedule.  Yes I know it would kick mine and most of our butts and that the sport is dangerous.  But a "basketball size rock?" On a circuit that should be over groomed at least for press day!  Not to mention no flaggers!  The riders on the National circuit deserve better.  But hey, the series promotor saved a few $ not doing the right thing and starting at GH

Other than one hill Glen Helen is “flat ground”

Maybe do your bitching to the owner of GH if you want to see a National there. Takes two to tango and it appears MX sports has no issues with the majority of track owners

Couldn't agree more.

I get it.  Rider's are getting hurt.  That's never good.  But before we start crucifying people... let's get the facts.  If these incidents are due to neglect or indifference then DC, the AMA, or whomever should have their feet held to the fire.  Answers and fixes are needed even if these are unforeseeable freak things.  It happened so now it's no longer "unforeseeable".

Pala sucks

For viewing...yes.  For most people.  I'm 6'3" and like to walk around to every accessable part of the track so it's not too bad for me.

I'd like to know what the riders think of the place.  It "looks" pretty racey from the the fence.Blush

Dang it! Gonna be the Deegs and Vialle show. I have a feeling about Shimoda though...
