What if its not just coaching, what if its just having natural talent for it and one can look at the other and try and implement that technique to make him better.
He still gave them that talent, score one for ole daddy
No love for their mum?
That team is the complete package, parents, coaches, Team Honda, mechanics , riders and entourage.
I thought you were gonna say Johnny O.

Johnny would disagree
Of course she gets love as well. I personally think that Tate keeps both brothers and parents all humble. He is the glue imo
It seems like the Lawrences are that once in a generation package where everything is right for success. Talent, work ethic, stable family, supporting dad who knows what he is on about, selecting the right coaches, good team, good bike, good team manager etc. Took the time and put in the hard yards to learn the right techniques.
On the whole there really isn’t a chink in the armor.
= I watch less sx
sorry I know they’re good for the sport. I just can’t force my enjoyment.
Darren has used every helping hand along the way, From Old Mate Greg Moss, to Josh Coppins, to Stefan and Harry Everts, to Ken Roczens old man to Johnny O'Mara,
i think Darren's greatest asset is not thinking he knows it all,
Lots of common denominators: Dazzy, Mom, Johnny O’Mara, Merkel, Honda, Where and how they train, I wouldn’t be surprised if they eat similarly.
Between Dazzy and both lads, they clearly know how to set a bike up for themselves.
Not so long ago the Honda’s SX setup was much maligned. Meanwhile the teams remained basically the same. Where’s all the “Honda’s unstable” talk gone?
Not saying it’s been 100% them, but they’re obviously a big part of the equation.
To me this isn't as much about setup and more about rider... The Hunta brothers don't rush when they ride unlike Kenny and Chase -- Hence those rider have the same issues regardless of the bike.
Aldon is not a riding coach, he is a trainer, so a ridiculous comparison. Johnny O is their trainer.
Old Mate just took his shirt off!
It does not matter whatever those 2 boys would have chosen to do in life. The riding coaches, their sponsors, none of that matters one bit..... The common denominator in this entire picture is the most important one....Family. And they all know it. Everybody contributes to the same pot, for the same goal, to help better each other, as one. Those boys race with that every time they suit up, and head to the gate. That lesson, it seems, was taught to them at a very young age, and they have never strayed from it. Dad and Mom have done an oustanding job of raising 3 incredible young men whom anyone would be proud of.
Good improvement for Hunter from not qualifying for his first 450 race to 2nd...
Now half the forum will dissagree with this since they have a hard time to understand when Jett said he had a goal in life.
But i feel that the best thing Dazzy has done as a dad is to continue to remind the boys of who they are and what they came from.
With all the success Jett and Hunter has had the last years it’s easy to get cocky, but they are still super humble about it.
Think about the monster baby Deegan would have been with the same results?.
And as someone else said, Dazzys biggest asset is that he knows when to get help and not, and he are willing to learn stuff he don’t know.
If something doesn’t work as it should, i feel that he tries to figure that out, not just sit on a chair under the tent and demand a fix for it from the team.
It says something when Lars Lindström goes to Dazzy for parenting advice.
Johnny O’mara
Pit Row
Mossy started their foundation coaching. Others added to the base. Obviously Darren was there for all of it to implement it, and being a smart dude learnt as well from the the best and best.
i feel he sees ways to improve, rather than trying to win with Status Quo.
Their Whiskey Throttle Lawrence family interview is great if anyone hasn't listened to it.
I thought that was so cool to see, them both being up front leading the race in Denver.
Biggest mistake their father made was not naming Jett, Jedi. Because that's what he is on two wheels.
Yes, that podcast really made me respect the entire family. Incredible insight as to how they all worked to get to this point. Hunter's comments also speak volumes about Roczen's dad's character; helping the family with no guarantee of ever being reimbursed. I can't imaging how someone could not be a fan after listening to that podcast.
Dazzy’s nutsack?
On the podium Jett said he and Hunter have identical bikes. If that’s not a common denominator, I don’t know what is. Saying there is just one common denominator between those two is misleading.
edit: I meant to say at the press conference
There cannot be just one common element IMO - I have not followed their career, just now watching back and learning - Total package, this group paid attention and made the necessary moves with raw talent, heart, and quality family input and guidance. I admire their program and attitude.
They are right where they earned themselves to be, and it's a really cool story that isn't near over.
I wish them continued success - it is amazing to watch and will raise the level of competition and make for better racing.
Jett is a great natural talent in so many ways, he was going to be good no matter who trained him. I will tell you that he got a lot of guidance from Johnny. Johnny said keeping Jett focused when he was 16-17 was like herding cats, he was all over the place. You also have to consider Heiko, he drilled his style into him
I will give Johnny the majority of the credit for Hunters success. If Johnny didn’t guide him in the right direction health wise, he probably would’ve quit by now.
Both have great support system that would benefit any rider.
Since these two brothers (yes, even as close as these two are) are sooooo very “different”…
There is only ONE common-denominator between the two of them.
Each-other.
Period.
I think they, their friends & family & their fans should be proud of how well they’ve excelled as individuals & as racers…
Together.
I think Lars needs to get a bit of credit here as well. He seems to facilitate an environment that keeps the riders in a good place. That wasn’t always the case with Honda.
Put Jett, Hunter, Dazzy on a super strict factory team…and I believe the results would suffer.
Lars seems to have found an excellent balance. The results at Honda over the past few years support that.
His devotion to continue working on Chases bike until the very end was admirable. He never gave up on Chase even when he new he signed with KTM, as well as even offering his Honda for the MXoN.
This is an underrated aspect. How many teams have their ever been where the riders are truly cooperative and have a vested interest in helping each other?
Most parents will take their kids to riding schools and get the necessary training but few will realise that they are the ones that need to be listening the most intently.
The parents are mostly always the single biggest influence. After all, the parents are the ones who will spend 99% of time with them at the track and they need to be able to provide the constant coaching and mentoring.
It’s a credit to Dazzy & Emma for how much time and effort they put into every element of the boys careers. They were obsessive and went the extra mile the others weren't willing to. It shows and they both deserve everything they are achieving.
