Outgoing Riders

Supply chain is always over producing young guns to fill the seats.

Unless Phil can channel his inner Junkyard dog, probably him as well. 

There doesn’t seem to be a real lot of young guys with outstanding talent to replace riders of that calibre? Hoping a few can step it up, as well as a couple more internationals coming in.

Unfortunately, I could see Jett Reynolds’s pulling the plug too. I hope that’s not the case, but he’s just had so many injuries. I know he’s 250, but it does leave a void.  
 

We'll be just fine.  There are plenty of fast guys coming up, and more coming up behind them.

I'm not saying any of the following guys will retire anytime soon, but here's an outlook on the rider's ages:

Request for the moto statisticians out there - I wanna see some age distribution plots in both SX classes by year. Be interesting to see the shift in median age over the years

That’s an average age of 30.
Twenty years ago that would of been a vet class 😂

Thank you for taking the time to put that together, I was thinking of spot-checking a few of those guys' age and scrolled and saw you put that all together for us.

That puts some massive perspective of what is to come, that is nuts...  a whole lot of seats to fill the next few years.

Until the younger riders force you into retirement then why would you? The extended adolescence of young American men is alarming to me. I believe it is a national crisis. Moto is a great example, not to long ago a very fast 16 year old could come in and compete very well in Pro Moto, the examples are numerous. No longer, we are in the midst of the "do your best", "find your comfort zone", "me time", "everyone gets a trophy", and "life should be more fair." generations arrival. 

are we expecting many riders to move up to 450 for 2025? or even 2026? Aside from possibly Forkner who I think intimated he was leaning towards coming back after his injury.

With Maverick's list, everyone other than 2-3 guys are past their prime speed wise too.

Is the club mx riders all riding 450's this summer?

Phil and Marchbanks, yes.

JMart was supposed to, but if they pick up Schick for outdoors, I wouldn't be surprised if JMart stayed 250. 

I think the 250 class has some great young talent to fill the hole that will arise in 3-5 years:

Yes maybe they won’t have Webb, Roczen, Tomac, Anderson level speed immediately but you got take into account that all those riders had 8-10 years of development in the 450 class to get to where they are today

VSMX Championship 

Think of the number of guys who made a ‘decent’ living locally racing in the 70s/80s, got a factory or factory support ride for a year or two, then still made a ‘decent’ living racing locally again once those rides were gone.

What's going to happen is we will start seeing riders retire later on average. Happens in all sports over the years. Baseball, basketball, etc all had an era where guys retired before 30. Now it's routine to see guys 35-40 playing at almost their peak level. We will be the same over the next 10 years. There's just no reason, unless you are someone like AC to retire prior to being 35.
