Signed with Kawasaki when he was 7 and rode green for 20 years, has any rider been more loyal to a brand?

Congratulations on an amazing career AC

I think his biggest contribution is yet to come. Go get 'em, Adam.

Man this sport can be a cruel mistress sometimes, I'm assuming he will stay within the sport and he will do well at whatever he chooses to do.

Bummer to see it end like this for him ,as far as the racing part of his life. But he has been really successful and done a lot.  I hope that he is able to find a way to stay involved in MX/SX . He would be great in the booth.

He is a smart guy, and I feel like he will become even more successful and impactful in whatever he decides to do next. He has the work ethic and determination needed to do big things. This might be a blessing in disguise . The racing world may not have AC around as a rider, and he may be able to be set as far as money goes. But I feel like we will see some big things from him as the years roll by.

Whatever he decides to do next, I hope he is happy and is able to love whatever it is that he is doing. Thank You AC for the years of racing and entertainment You have given us. I look forward to seeing whatever is next.

RC hasn't been locked in for outdoors as he has for SX....opening for AC to jump right into the booth this summer?

He seems pretty content about retiring.

Like Sandman said, he won an MX championship. That's a big accomplishment.

*EDIT* aefertz holeshot me on the podcast. No need for me to take up screen space

Was it a specific crash that caused the nerve damage in his hand??  Which one?

I think he's told Matthes that it wasn't even directly related to an injury, he just woke up one day and it started going numb.

Wow, this is really sad. It seems like everyone here expected this?

But man, no other retirement 'hit' me as much as this one. He is only 27 years old. I remember watching his youtube videos when he was a young kid flying on a 65. Damn were getting old. Sure he has his health problems but I just thought he would still try the next few years..

Like others said I hope he will get his place on the broadcast someday.

As much as I love to see AC out there, it pains me to see him struggling so much.

Here's hoping that, like Pastrana, AC's best years come AFTER racing!

Honestly to be as competitive as he has been the last couple years with the nerve issues just proves how much of a special talent he is.

I'm surprised how bummed I am about this, partly because I have a nerve issue in my right hand so it hits close to home and partly because he has to be one of the nicest guys in the sport.

As a racer he had so much potential but at the end of the day he is a national champion and a 450 Motocross race winner, that's a hell of an achievement to hang the hat on.

Wishing him all the best for whatever is in the future for him and hope he can keep enjoying the sport and enjoy riding for fun, he's a good speaker and good role model. I'm listening to the podcast now and he has a great mentality and good head on his shoulders so I'm sure he'll be okay

Always a likable kid that gave it everything he had. Sad to see your career cut short but you are going out with class. Thanks for the thrills.

Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Adam Cianciarulo, announced today that he is retiring from professional racing. The 27-year-old Floridian has decided to conclude his professional racing career at the end of the Monster Energy Supercross season in May, signifying the end to a 20-year journey with Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green™, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki and the Monster Energy Kawasaki factory team.

“I was seven years old when I signed with Kawasaki, and from my amateur career with Team Green to turning pro and my time in the 250 class with Pro Circuit, to the last four years with factory Kawasaki at the highest level in our sport, here we are 20 years later, and I couldn’t be more proud of the relationship we have built, and our accomplishments together. Through the highs and lows that are inevitable in this sport, Kawasaki has been more than just a sponsor; they have always treated me like family and had my back even when the road ahead looked uncertain. As I announce my retirement, I want to extend my deepest thanks to Kawasaki for their belief in me and their relentless commitment. It’s been an honor and a privilege to represent such an iconic brand, and to be a part of a team with the utmost integrity. I’ve made friends that will last a lifetime, and memories I will always cherish. My love for racing, and our sport in general, is stronger than ever, and I look forward to the future with the same excitement I had as a kid dreaming of the career I was so fortunate to have had.”

Dude couldn't handle the pressure. No shame in that. Glad he's making way for someone who hopefully can..

It really is a bummer to see someone so talented not even come close to reaching their potential because of some stupid injury. At least he's in a good place mentally.

Not really.  The rt turn where countless riders washed the front end out , under the sand it’s slick. The straight after the start. He was off the pace. Then into surgery.  Not sure who talked him into having his nerve worked on but it was a bad call.  You never want to cut on the funny bone nerve.  My  pinky & next finger numb threw my hand into my wrist.

Feel for AC, what could have been and i'm sure he would like to continue if his body would cooperate.

There's that part of him that wishes he had more wins/chips. But I'm sure he's just happy to have lived his dream and come out in one piece with fat pockets...

So sad to hear. I can remember being at Hangtown at was supposed to be his first pro race to battle the other hot rookie Cooper Webb and even that got messed up by of all things food poisoning. AC is also such a true historian to the sport going all the way back to its infancy. He lived, breathed, ate and slept motocross.

Whatever is his next chapter in life will be he'll do fine cause AC is a fighter. Thanks for the memories AC

Great guy and I genuinely hope his time with SX is only beginning. The sport is better when he’s a part of it.
