Anything that saves weight and serves no other purpose. I love the look of titanium and the fun bells and whistles, but shaving weight off a bike is pretty useless unless you are really carrying the mail.

To many to list, I’ve even been guilty of my share lol.  One thing I haven’t been guilty of.  Freakin VP 110 octane race fuel in a stock bike rated for 92 or 93.

Im not exactly on board with throwing graphics in here. I utilize graphics to promote for companies that help me. The bonus is they look cool! Im also guilty of engraved WC stuff just because its cool. I know it does nothing for me but its like $30. Lol

Unless you have an enduro model, then a slip on muffler is a necessity.

Plastics to change the bike colour - and then putting SKDA graphics on them...

It's very specific but way too common.

Instead of "Remove Before Flight," I want one that reads "This is Why it Won't Start."

I paid extra for the 'remove before flight' tag, and the tag blew off on the way to the track the first time.... boo

When I was a kid (14), I'd fill my 1974 Suz TM125 down-pipe with water, when I was washing the bike, then start it up and peg the throttle and see how far the water would squirt, the water never appeared to cause any ill effects, although Dad would be pissed about the oily water spray across the back of the house ;-)

I'm probably guilty of all of them. Rebuilding two of the same bikes as mid-life crisis projects. If it makes you happy, it's worth it. FYI, I am close to pulling the trigger on a hole shot device I don't need.Laughing

I love it when a guy 30 pounds over weight buys titanium bolts to save a few ounces!

My entire “Vet Dinosaur” special is everything mentioned in this thread and I love it. 40yr old guy who still loves getting packages in the mail from WC, CMT, Rocky Mountain, and Motosport. Love building these bikes almost as much as riding them these days.

When you guys get to be a certain age and realize you can’t take the money with you and you only live once, you will join the factory and works editions, sprinter vans, VP fuel, and CV forks crowd… believe me, you will! 😂

This. THIS EXACTLY.

And you'll appreciate every part of it.

Not arguing and definitely not singling you out bro, this always comes up and loads of people say it, but....

If a guy is 150lbs or 250lbs, both would benefit the same way by riding a lighter bike.

Could the heavier dude benefit additionally and more significantly by loosing weight himself? Yep, absolutely.

Does that mean lugging a lighter bike around is not a benefit for him? No.

Do we tell the heavy guy a lighter helmet is not worthwhile for him because he likes beer and barbecue?

I do agree all of these bikes are light and any weight saving probably makes sod all difference for most of us here though 😂

Oh gotcha. I read that completely backwards, like they're a necessity on an mx bike. Durrrr

Try hard enduro without folding levers. My stock brake lever lasted half a day and my clutch lasted 2. I've now got 300 hours on one set of folding levers. Saved a hell of a lot of money over the years!

I've actually been killing it training through the winter. 5 days a week. Meanwhile I haven't touched my bike and I had all these grand plans of bringing it out during the down time. Oh well

Although the boost bottle was actually useful on certain engines that had inadequate crankcase volume affecting primary compression, and lots of early Yamahas had that problem. Damn I sound like an asshole, sorry.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with guys blowing $1k on an exhaust for their 450, a bling kit because they want some ano’d doodads on their bike, or a graphics kit with their favorite logos on it. As long as they aren’t saying they need these parts for the bike, rather they just want them because they have the money to spend on them.

This reminds me of when I started racing in 92. My dad started racing again (after quitting in 80). He enters 40+ Junior/Intermediate and smokes the only other rider. He comes over and is peeved that dad beat him, etc. Turns out he had moved up not because he was fast but because no one ever entered Jr/Int at that time, and he was getting beat in Beginner…

On the way home, I told dad “you watch, he’s the type that will show up next week with a pipe.” Sure as shit, guess who rolls out the next race with a brand-new PC pipe and silencer…
