Then during the 450 main Webb was stalking Chase for the win and they cut to Jett 8sec back all alone in 3rd. Cmon

yep and jett ends up getting hate for this over exposure?

not his phucing call ....

It’s so bad, the production, the camera work, the directing. They are clearly given so many talking points that they have to shoehorn into the broadcast. They don’t call the racing at all. After how many years they can’t figure out how to find and follow a rider on fast lap in qual.

Yea I’m not buying that excuse. I just seems like they are apathetic about changing the broadcast.  They’ve tried for years with this dumbed down version to attract new fans (or so they say) that clear out isn’t working. I got into F1 in the last few years and I learned a lot about the spot cause they don’t dumb down everything.

RC is just cliche saying after cliche saying. Him saying Jett should settle on the 3rd lap of the main when he’s in 6th place 8 seconds behind is so dumb I can’t wrap my head around it.

they need to rotate the colour commentating spot......JS is EXCELLENT!!!!!!

I'm  an RC fan but sorry Ricky you just can't think on your'e feet quick enough to effectively communicate during the broadcast....please move on.

After reading these comments, I feel like I’m watching the View. I get the that it isn’t perfect but I’m guessing none of you have a clue what it takes to actually broadcast a race live. I don’t either but like most things, I’m sure it’s more complicated than you think. It’s not perfect? Get over it. We get to watch the races and practices live. It wasn’t that long ago we’d be lucky to see the race a month after it happened.

After 15+ years Bondo should have a clue, no?

One would think after the first 3 years he’d be gone. year 1 bad performance, chalk it up to learning, year 2 bad performance, put on a PIP (performance improvement plan) going into year 3. Year 3 bad performance again. Fired!   That’s how it works with the two major companies I have worked for.

The best in their field make whatever they're doing look easy.

SX TV production looks hard. Time to find someone that makes it look easy.

Rewatched the mains early this morning.

Once again, 90% of what they're talking about isn't anything relevant to the actual race.

And if they feel they need to tell us their useless babble, by then they've had plenty of downtime between heats to the mains to bore us with their scripted info.

The track is too big? Isn't there only 20 riders? 10 potential battles?

none of us have a clue how to broadcast? Yeah no shit. It’s not our jobs. If it was my job people would expect me to do it well. That’s why I was hired. If I’m shitty at my job.. people complain and I have to do better.. I don’t say.. well why don’t so and so try my job. Well it’s not their fucking job. It’s mine. And I have to do it well. So no.. we don’t have to know how to broadcast. That’s their job. And they suck at it.

I’m more in the, don’t bitch about every little thing and be happy crowd. It’s not like you critique the show, you just go straight to insults as if bondo screws up to personally piss you off. It’s funny that you think you posting “fuck you” on vitwlmx is what brings about change for the better. What if you’re at work and screw up, you cool with some stranger saying fuck you? Is that gonna help you to never make another mistake? Who knows, maybe you’re one of those perfect people who does everything perfect all the time.
As far as progress, remember where I said that it wasn’t long ago that we had to wait a month before watching a race? I realize that there are definitely ways to improve the broadcast and you know what, I guarantee peacock or whoever runs broadcasting, knows that too, without reading a bunch of angry dudes complaining about it on vital. If all of you angry guys get so pissed watching the races because the production value isn’t up to your standards, go watch baseball where you’re guaranteed to not miss any of the excitement

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if Matthes was watching all of these races at home on tv instead of being present and catching bits and pieces of the broadcast after the fact, he would be losing his damn mind.

I understand guys not wanting to speak negatively on their employers, but I much prefer JTs approach where he just doesn't speak on these issues than blatant shilling and downplaying. Weege is by far the worst.

Sorry dude. lm going to be honest here. Your opinion is pretty dog shit and I was debating even typing up a response. If I was just one guy out of a small group then I’d say you have a point. But this a big deal and it’s a big deal to thousands of people. Just look around social media. And besides, if you’re happy with the product but something comes out of bitching and it gets even better, why do you care? You’re over there mad that we want something better? Weird flex

also, where on earth are you coming up with this “not Long ago we waited a month” bullshit? I was watching consistent 2 week tape delays in 1998. Nothing was a month. So you’re saying 30 years later we shouldn’t have a damn near perfected show? Comments like that are what makes me think you’re kinda a special guy.

"you have a clue what it takes to actually broadcast a race live"

This is not a valid point. I bet it is very difficult, but after 10 years you can't use something being difficult as your excuse, you either learn to do your job better, or you get replaced, it's that fucking simple.

I just listened to this segment and that isn’t true. They both agreed there are problems with the broadcast and the shot to the crowd was a mistake. They also said they don’t care about them and don’t understand why everyone is so upset about the broadcast. It’s kind of a strange stance for me. They care about so much stuff like privateers getting paid etc. but don’t care about how the sport is presented on screen? Certainly seems like a convenient way to skirt around actually talking about how bad the broadcast is. Even Marks chimed in and said “I understand it’s a mistake, I’ve fat fingered this board multiple times but to let the shot last that long without changing it back quicker was odd.”

Ironically right after an industry guy called in and was critiquing it and Matthes agreed.  He just thinks 90% of the fans are dumb.  Steve is good providing news about riders, but he has a platform to create change in the sport and he doesn’t seem interested in doing that.

He’s also just kind of been an asshole lately. He only refers to dirt worx as dirt jerks which is fine anmongst friends but doing it publicly repeatedly I imagine they don’t like.  and he constantly refers to Mitch as the guy in the chair (wtf).

As someone who went to school for TV/Radio Broadcast Production & Sports Journalism and worked on NCAA D1 Broadcasts, here are my 2 cents. To me its sounds like the Producers, the person who stacks the show is trying to fit too much in too small of a timeframe. So we end of getting a little bit of everything, but end up getting nothing.

This isn't Nascar where you have 3 hours of time to kill. You have a couple of 6 minute sprints, and then a 15 and a 20 minute run. From the 2 box to the mini features we get during the race, its too much. Like if there's a mini feature about Sexton & his thoughts going into the night, run it before his heat, so the viewers know where he's at mentally BEFORE he races. Because if you during during the race, you set the story after its already happening. Or even have Will [I'll go further with her later] try to get a quick word with a rider or two BEFORE the gate drop/walking to the gate.

As for the commentary: Weege does a great job and I don't mind Diffy either. Both have a different style of telling a story, but neither should be excluded from the table. Ricky on the other hand... he is a bit of a "hur durr." He is only there because he is the goat. He says the same things every week and doesn't go very in depth for a color guy. Outside of the booth I enjoy listening to RC, but he is lacking in the booth. I know JB is a lock for RDL [also will touch on this later], but he would be a great fit. The former racers NASCAR puts in the booth, are not the goats, but they have personality and go in depth to what the driver/car are thing/doing.

Race Day Live obviously doesn't get as much love & attention as the night show, so its going to have a smaller budget and crew. With probably half the camera angles, its harder to catch everything, but I wonder if they don't have the director in their ears telling them who to be on and so forth with how much they miss. Granted I understand there are things RDL miss, but people need to stop acting likes its going to have the production value of the night show. Overall, there is a lack of communication somewhere within the crew that needs to stop being avoided like the plague and desperately needs to be addressed.

As for the Will Christian mob: I think you all need to calm down. Is she great? No. Is she as god awful as you make her out to be? No. With my 6 years experience do I think I could get off the couch, go to STL this weekend and do her job cold turkey? Hell No. [If had reps with smaller series and got the call, sure maybe, I'd love too.]  I compare her to one of the pit reporters from NASCAR NBC broadcasts. They will have time to give her two cents in during the three hour long race, and that doesn't take up much for the race. With SX on the other hand, you run into a problem. The actual race times are MUCH shorter, so wanting to cut to Will or JT mid race take up more of the race, even if its 30-45 seconds of a heat race. Have either of them speak before the gate drop then let the booth take over.

For those complaining about the booth tossing to her and her not speaking for more than it should, I don't think that's on her, I think its on the director not queuing/telling her via her ear piece that's she's clear to speak. Hell even the camera guy could queue her, but I don't think they are being told that information either. Again this all comes back to the lack of communication going on. But honestly some people have said some pretty vile things towards Will. I don't know if people are hating on her because its trendy like hating Nickleback was years ago, but some of you are out of control. Grow up and tune it out or seek professional help. I'll take Will over Rutledge Wood any day.

Other small things. stop dumbing it down. I get trying to appeal to new viewers and getting them to understand the sport, but its not hard to understand. Dumbing the sport down brings forth the idea that EVERYONE in the sport is dumb, when that isn't the case. There are some incredibly intellectual people in this sport. [Again] Look at NASCAR, they have a virtual cut away car, where is something breaks they can literally show/tell the viewer new or old, what/where/how a part broke/got damaged. Not saying SX needs to do the same but the on air talent should breakdown rider/bike adjustments like that to give a little more insight to the viewers. As many or small of a "oh I didn't know that, neat" moment you can add to a broadcast will bring viewers back. Also stop labeling the sand section as "The Beach" its not. They are normally piss poor [except you Seattle] and provide no challenge to the riders as that blast through it like is nothing. The Booth has yet to call it the Beach this year outside of Daytona, where it actual fits.

Overall the production for Supercross is embarrassing. I understand there is so many things they have to fit into the show because of sponsorship contracts, but right now there is too much trying to be done. I really think Feld/NBC need to go for a less is more approach to the broadcast. This sport can be so much more, but its presented and shown off as discounted.

Thank you for taking all of our bitches and gripes and adding some intellect and job experience to it. Sounded better than the simple “fuck you” I provided to Bondo 😂. Couldn’t agree more with your post.

My favorite current combo has been Weege or Daniel Blair paired with James Stewart. James just cracks me up.

What bothers me about the race coverage is that the announcers are announcing off the TV screens we are watching. They can't see the race at all and that means they are limited by whether or not the team is capturing and displaying the proper content. If they aren't, then Weege has to start talking about some stupid battle back in 10th when we are really trying to see Jett do something awesome up front. The team in the background have been doing the same stuff for too long. I am sure it is a hard job, but someone needs to get it right. If I do an average job for my employer long enough, they are going to move in a different direction. It's just business.

I promise you that if they brought in Wes Williams, Tommy Tenders, Troy Adamitis, Jase Macalpine, Ash Hodges, Jay Schweitzer, etc, anyone seasoned in that realm, as creative consultants, we could get some fresh ideas and new perspectives on how to improve the broadcast experience. But you have to be open minded to do that and be willing to take chances. It's been cookie cutter coverage for too long.

I've heard Astephen, Mirtl, etc speak about their opinions on the sport in general and those guys can only help propel us forward, if allowed. You don't have to love them to realize they can bring something different to the direction we are headed.

Off topic, but why the hell don't we have a Netflix series yet? I've learned more about F1, PGA Golf, Nascar and Tennis from Netflix than I have cared to in the past year. I actually watched the final round of a golf tournament last week! I've never played golf! If they can get a gearhead like me interested in their sport, we can get golfers and tennis players interested in our sport. It goes both ways. We need a Drive to Survive or Full Swing style Netflix show asap, especially with Jett and Deegan in our sport currently... Imagine the Deegan haters talking about our sport or the fangirls swooning all over Jett... This sport is there for the taking and it's just the same ol stuff every year. Not that I don't love it, I do, but our ceiling is far higher than we are currently reaching.....

On board with most of what you say...

...but sorry man.  Will actually is horrible.    ...and that's not me jumping on the "trendy" wagon.     Hell....I'm almost certain I started the movement years ago.    It also has nothing to do with the "accent" claims people keep making.

Haley Shandley is way better suited be the female presence on the broadcast.    She blows Will out of the water....it's not even close.

Thank you for taking all of our bitches and gripes and adding some intellect and job experience to it. Sounded better than the simple “fuck you” I provided to Bondo 😂. Couldn’t agree more with your post.

Not going to lie, I opened this thread because I was confused why there was a 4 page thread on the damn Bondo putty 😂. I still have no clue who this guy is, but I can see why people aren't a fan of him and are upset with the broadcasts and they have every right to be. I know there is a massive problem when former talent [Blair] KNOWS there are things not being addressed and he cant speak on it.

I went for school for this stuff, they TEACH YOU to not do some of the things that are happening with the production. So for me its like dripping lemon juice in my eyes.

I've only been watch SX for ~10 years now, but I know with Peacock the broadcasts have had issues. As must as I wanted to just rant and say WTF, I've seen to much complaining and have held my tongue for too long.  I wanted to break it down, while being "professional" about it all. I'm trying to get a job with NBC so I can make the show better 😂

I'm glad you enjoyed it

Dude exactly. No one even really knows what job I do and if I suck I get fired. Millions of people see this product and A LOT of people think it sucks. You’re telling me they can have that much exposure and suck that bad and have ZERO accountability? That means one thing to me. Like others have mentioned.. politics. Only in politics can you suck that bad and have nothing change. Bondo has top cover and can suck however bad he wants.

Wait a minute....millions of people watch SX?  Is that legit?

If you add up all the in-person and TV viewers over the 50 years it's been in existence (plus Bercy, WSX, etc), that's probaly not too far off.Whistling

Will is horrible. Nothing she says brings real meaning. She talked to such and such and they said blah blah blah. Same shit in every freaking race. No one gives a shit. Show the race. I like JT but neither of those positions are necessary. If you want mor info get on the internet or listen to a podcast.
