My son’s kx65. It’s an abomination. Light switch power, shit suspension, and shit brakes.  I felt the fear many times jetting it.

Not sure if the bike was too fast or if I was too young, but my 2003 CRF 450 was a rocketship with the worst handling and huckaback of all time haha

Seeing some KTM comments. We had another thread about this last year and I have to mention mine again: 2013 KTM 250SX.

that thing hit like a bus and pulled like a semi. Truly have no idea how a stock 250 can be that fast and I’m on a mildly modded YZ250 now. I, too, check under my bed to make sure it’s not trying to kill me as well.

1977 RM 125. I was only ten when my uncle gave it to me. I could barely see over the handlebars standing next to it. Couldn’t touch the ground sitting on it. Coming off a Yamaha MX 80, this thing was fast as Fu**. As I kid, I loved holding that thing wide open. Looking back as an adult, yeah, I was definitely on the wrong bike.

Sorry for the old grainy pic.

The old SC500 wasn't a rocket but it was definitely too fast for the frame and suspension.  That thing introduced me to arm pump and smashed balls.

I did get to ride an old Montessa that was pretty quick.  It didn't like being ridden.Blush

I bought a ‘95 Honda CR250 from Kehoe, it was Jamie Dobb’s (Honda of Troy) race bike. I was so overwhelmed when I rode it, that I sold it after just a couple rides and bought a ‘96 250 from Erik that had a stock motor in it.
That ‘95 was wicked fast, so hard to ride. I was not good enough to ride that bike !

I built a 2013 300 SX ports were cleaned up, head was shaved down, base gaskets were stacked up.
Powervalve was dialed in, PC pipe and silencer, VP U4.4

Wound up with the XC ignition in the soft map, and added a flywheel weight.

Wasn’t my bike but did ride it a few times. No such thing as a little whiskey throttle.
It was offered to me for a great price but had to pass.

I had three buddies with ‘03 250 SX’s they were a handful but nothing like this 300 monster

Well when I was 12 that would have been a TM 400, or maybe the Bultaco 360 el bandito.
They were both in the garage. Aahhh the 70’s

I rode a brand new ‘03 KTM 250sx at the 24hr Glen Helen. I still look under my bed to make sure it’s not trying to kill me. It was that fast and that ill-handling.

It was the modern day Cyclone 400.

I was dead set on buying a buddies 1985 Honda CR 500, until I rode it for a day. I didn't want it anymore after that!

I asked to ride it. He told me, if you can start it, you can ride it. I had a crate I kept my riding gear in that I stood next to the bike. Got it first kick and was off.

Couple weeks later, the pink slip was in a birthday card.

He wouldn’t let me ride his 76 RM 370 until I was 13. Guess he liked me a little 😂

Rode one of those just once.....  A friend bought a new leftover in early 04, brought it out on a practice day at our local track.  I made half a lap, and I swear I saw God himself twice in about 45 seconds......

SLOWLY rode it back, and handed it to him.  My advice to him was that if intended on keeping it, promptly go out and buy a burial plan at the  funeral parlor of his choice.  That fucker was evil to the core, and too fast for it's own good.

There was a time in my life where my 87 CR500 was a blast to ride, but those days are behind me now, not too long ago I took it out for fun and it almost launched out of my hands and scared the shit out of me, 4 strokes have made me soft.   Now I'm content staring at it, while drinking beers.

Going from my TM75 to my brand new '81 RM125X was scary at first for me! Of course, after a month I was looking for more power/speed. Found an ad for Krause Racing out of Illinois in MXA and sent them my cylinder and head to get "flow-ported". Couldn't believe how it broadened the powerband and changed the sound of the bike. I would also go to the regional airport and buy Avgas and mix it with that sweet smelling Castrol "R" oil. It was fun while it lasted. I ran out of talent and the bike won 🙂

Took a 525EXC around an mx track once, trick was that it didn't really feel that fast, but then I was heading down the fast back straight and reached the end where I'd usually hit the binders on my CR going a wee bit faster than I had planned for... Oh yeah, the brakes were probably great for a 125SX...

I've had over 80 bikes, the fastest dirtbike I've owned '84 Honda CR500, loved it, better power, handling & suspension that my 450 modern bike, had to sell it (last year), kickstarting it broke my artificial knee.

When you're 6 a mini-bike with a 3.5hp B&S engine is a rocketship!

This ^^^!!!

I went to show my buddies "how it's done" by jumping a friend's minibike like Hannah. Having never had ridden a motorized vehicle let alone jumped one, I seriously misjudged how much throttle was required to clear the pit we were jumping over and overjumped it by a mile, accidentally whiskey throttled it and proceeded to RIDE THROUGH A WOODEN FENCE THAT SKINNED ME --- SKINNED ME --- FROM NIPPLES TO CHIN (I was looking to the sky when I went through the fence).

Luckily I wasn't wearing a helmet - it probably would have killed me (it was the early 80s).

Being the bada$$ 10-year old I thought I was, I got up like nothing happened and rolled the bike back to my buddy who was rightfully pissed that I boogered up his scoot and his neighbor's fence. As I walked toward the group of kids staring at me in disbelief, OOZING NIPPLE BLOOD (YEAH, IT'S A THING) AND WEARING NOTHING BUT FLIP FLOPS, SHORTS, AND 2 FU$%ING SLEEVES BECAUSE THE TORSO OF MY SHIRT WAS SOMEHOW TOTALLY TORN OFF, I SAID "HEY MAN, SORRY ABOUT THE BIKE" AND WALKED HOME WITH TEARS RUNNING DOWN MY FACE AND SAID NOTHING. TO. ANYONE.

Bit of background, bought a 93 kx500 basket case to restore for a winter project.during rebuild notice it’s got some mods.. ported/head mods/carb bored/psi rev pipe/reeds etc.Ive raced open bikes before but when I started it up ,wasn’t like any 500 I’ve had . thing barked like a top fuel dragster doing throttle wack. It was basically unrideable on the track.started to wonder if it had been used for something other than mx.( flat track?, half mile?hill climb? ice racing?)after a few thrill rides sold it before it killed me.any of you guys had something similar?IMG 1042 0.jpeg?VersionId=2NKdvy014MoS1nn

Psi pipes made any bike into a rocket ship.  A lot of Midwest riders ran them with stock engines &  Qualified for  nationals. Psi was Huge in snowmobile racing. There from Wisconsin.
