Which takes me back to my original post. She obviously doesn't have the situational awareness required for this.

Flaggers and photographers have their own pre-race instructional/safety meetings every week. I don't know if the Monster girls do or not. My guess is that they will now.

I know someone said similar in the other thread but ear plugs or not, I have NO idea how that chick didn't hear / feel two pinned 450's coming at her.

Not the sharpest tool in the shed, bless her, but it still sucks nobody more senior/familiar with these events was monitoring her or whatnot.

Don't tell me that as a racer that wasn't in Webb's head for a bit as to whether they were going to red flag it and WTF had just happened.

I’m sure I’m gonna attract some angst and shit for this…but, it’s true.

100% should have been a red flag thrown.

Where were the 6 guys the AMA has standing around the start line before the gate drops. Another reason the useless organization needs to be replaced.

Between the crowd rush at Daytona, this, no plan I've heard to protect the riders from the freakin concrete floor and a few other incidents I think somebody needs to wake the F up.

Webb wasn't complaining about it, post race, why are you?

Ya, if anything, hopefully they button up their protocol.

I said earlier that I don't ever remember seeing these gals without a "minder" to get them off the course asap.  They probably never brief them because they aren't "normally" left unattended.

I bet you're right about them getting a safety briefing in the future.Wink

I don't understand why, in 2024, there is still a person out on the track physically holding a sign in the first place. Why not add a beam to the existing start gate structure that extends out far enough for the riders to see it, and put a digital countdown screen on it. Besides being safer, it would look more professional too. They could even put Monster shit all over it like they do with everything else if that's an issue.

That’s two races in a row where we’ve got people meandering across a live/hot race track.  Just sayin’.

So a rider has to complain for a red flag to be thrown when someone is on the track, gets in the way, gets hit, and causes a potential injury?  What does Webb not complaining about this after a race have to do with throwing a red flag at the time of the incident?  I'm not saying this is Webb's decision based on whether he complains or not about it.  It was the AMA's decision and they floundered.

So with your mentality, if an agro (and very stupid) fan decides to run out on the track now during a race (think Daytona) to get in the path of a rider they don't like, there should be no red flag?   It's the same exact thing.  A person on the track obstructing traffic deserves a red flag whether it was intentional or not.  I would hope there's something along these lines in the rule book.

Because Feld’s target audience likes them and would flip out if they were done away with. Gotta grow the sport ya know. 🤷🏼‍♂️

No one needs escorted near a live race track it’s common sense.  Does someone hold your hand when you cross the street?

Are we not going to use the search function to see if people are talking about it before we ask if we are not going to talk about it?

No?  OK. Carry on then.

If you slow it down, you can see the AMA official gesturing her on the left side of the screen, I just cant make out of hes telling her to cross or not to cross.

I'm gonna say no red flag.    Even though it hurt Webbs chance at Jett early on.    So much can go wrong on a restart and Jett/Webb surely would not have wanted one.

That said,   In the womans own words, she wasn't directly hit, the bike hit the boards (thankfully to Webbs presence of mind)...she did not fall, she said she DOVE off track.

I'm thinking the officials saw that she was okay (thankfully) and let the race proceed.   If she had been hurt, that's another story.

Not sure how they would have handled it if Webb had gone down.    Is a 30 second person "part of the racetrack"...I'm serious.  Just like maybe hitting a Dig Dug.    I don't know what the rules are on track "staff".

Webb sure recovered from it pretty well.

Cut the woman some slack....who here has never made a mistake in life?   I blame AMA more than her.

In her words.... "last girl, her responsibility to grab the boards".    Also, she states she walked that way two other times previously during the racing and nobody said anything.   This is so on the officials...

Holy crap, I just agreed with a Magoofan post.

Just put the rest of my day on hold while I try to figure out what this means.

Wow two major f ups in the last two races, I would say someones insurance is going to go up. If a person gets run down by a racer no matter what its going to be one hell of a lawsuit. Some heads should roll to be honest.

Steve, Pulp was interviewing Justin Cooper in the post race interviews and mentioned they only let more experienced Girls handle the 30 second board duties. Crazy how that happened.

Kind of how I feel about the AMA. She is an employee of theirs and yet the cannot instruct her on what to do when she’s on the job? Obviously not one of them told her to walk off the track, go grab your boards and stand over there until the race is over. It’s okay to admit the sanctioning body is incompetent, now the entire more community has witnessed it two weeks in a row. The shit show at the end of Daytona was something you’d see at some county fair race. And now we had one of the top riders in the sport dodging an AMA starter on the track. We’ve seen it before from the AMA on other issues but those have not been life threatening like the last two events. I take full responsibility when i employ someone on a job and so should the sanctioning body in this case. They have guys standing all over the place, one can be devoted to make sure there are not bodies n race lines

I was speaking to your comment that it was "in Webb's head".  Maybe for 1/2 of a second. Problem is behind you - focus forward. Racers race. The first two guy's dealt with it, didn't lose position, by the time 3rd place was at that point she was out of the way, uninjured. In the post race interview with her (which she articulated very well) , she said SHE messed up.

It's time the AMA gets penalized for this it should have been treated like fan interference and red flagged immediately. And the lack of taking responsibility for many occurrences is unreal. How about paying Cody Schocks hospital bill? I was always told the AMA has insurance for all of us riders..? And what if that girl got seriously injured? Who would have been sued? Not the AMA it probably would have been Webb. Fuck the AMA
