This venue is clean and gorgeous, BUT……
The surrounding restaurants and food establishments were not equipped to handle the thousands of people expected for this event.
Lines for food and beverages are up to 45 minute waits. Hot dogs were cold. Nacho cheese was cold, its currently 16:40 and it’s damn near impossible to get a beer.
I get that it’s the first time they visited this venue, but all the stress of waiting for simple amenities has made the experience kind of sour……
Ready for the main event! Just my two cents. I hope others are having a better experiences. I won’t be back.
This seems to be a reoccurring theme at all the new venues they are going to. I don’t know if the crowds are just bigger than they anticipate or what but it happened at the first couple of SMX rounds last fall as well.
Banjos playing through the broken glass…….
I spend a lot of time in college football forums and there have always been jokes about how shitty the area is around UAB's stadium. And I believe the stadium isn't even near campus. It's funny now to see that SX chose to go to this famously shitty place.

16:40? Must be a communist 😂
joke, sorry man I couldn’t resist 😀
I assumed this would be a one and done event just for those reasons.
Hey at least they're not "too good" to bring SX to the deep south. They don't allow tailgating or some other lame rule?
Wear baggy cloths, put shots in your socks, fill clear water bottles with Vodka, put sandwiches/snacks in your wife deep hand bag covered in children's needs.
This is probably their excuse but it shouldn’t be. They know how many tickets were sold. I’ve been to events that have been severely understaffed when the event had been sold out for weeks and it sucks pretty bad.
This place is pretty packed now.. i bought a beer in the pits so that was pretty cool.. food lines are stupid long tho
Sweet home Alabama...
I have never understood why more people dont just tailgate for an event like this. You can go in and out of these venues, and you are going to be there all day, a small grill and a cooler is all you really need... Its a college football stadium, I would assume they built the facility with tailgating in mind.
I feel like all these stadium amenities suck now. People don’t work hard anymore and that’s the break down I think. The people behind the counter are all high and move like zombies. Only places that are good are chick fil a and QT
Careful, ol Don will let you know it’s not Felds fault it’s the unions
Did you walk down to 2nd Avenue? Lots of stores there.
The bleacher seating is a good sign that the experience will not be great
I just want to drink beer and watch supercross man! Is that too much to ask?
They could have opened more food things inside. Stadium but lines are long everywhere. Daytona was long last week. This is my 4th round this year and always buy a round specific shirt. Not this year. Not a single shirt due to long ass lines.
That said, I eat before I come so I don't have to wait in lines. Place is much nicer than I thought. Best bathrooms I've seen yet. It is smallish though. Pits where neat and a nice building and WARM. FUCKING COLD HERE!! lol
Pit Row
I for one thought it went great. I was expecting much less! Pits track and hotels are so close together it’s great for the industry folks. Fan fest was nice indoors. Waited a hour to eat dinner at one of the restaurants before the race not bad imo considering the event. And at the track my wife made All the food runs and mid race got the event shirts and was never gone more than 20-30min…
I just don’t see how anybody can say it’s shitty around the stadium the whole uptown area and top golf adjacent to the stadium is nice… now legion field their old stadium is a totally different story
I think most people shitting on the location are still thinking of old uab football stadium and don't even know this place exists, or at least haven't been there.
I don’t know if Feld doesn’t buy the premium service package or what ….but even Denver has lines forever for concessions. More than half the stands are closed until the night show pretty much starts. SX is a full day event for most and a 40 minute wait for even the worst food is a joke. Literally faster to leave the stadium and get something away from Mike high and go back.
It’s one thing to complain about concession wait times, but this post is a major overreaction and undeserved. With the exception of food lines, Birmingham is a solid addition to the schedule.
Does your wife have a sister 😏
A cold front moved in last night and low 50's to mid-40's is cold for the locals and could have played a part in the turnout.
At 16:40, you should’ve came across the street to the Southern Kitchen (like 100 yards from the stadium South Gate) and had a beer with my group on the 2nd floor bar. Had no lines whatsoever at that time. Damn good Philly and club sammiches too. Event location was 10/10 for me, and I’ve been to several. Def hope they return.
How does a venue like this not know how to host and cater for an event.
The problem is the area surrounding the stadium is Alabama
