Most hours on Stark?

I just hit 40.5 hours on one of our Vargs and 9.75 on the other for combined hours over 50.   I live in Idaho so riding has been a little hit/miss this winter.  I'm wondering who on Vital has the most hours on their Stark?

I'm really dreading hitting the 50 hour mark on the first bike because it will cost me $2 in synthetic gearbox oil and about 5 minutes of labor. lol

I've only had two issues with the bikes:

1.  White bike had a disconnected electrical connector to the water pump.  Took about 5 minutes to fix once I realized the issue.

2.  White bike had a cord/charger go bad at about 30 hours.  I think it was the cord, but not 100% sure.  There is a small chance I let some debris get in the cord end and caused the issue myself.

With both issues Stark support was support quick and took care of me.

The last issue isn't with the bike itself, but the tires.  I've never run Pirelli's before, but they come stock on the Stark.  I have a really weird problem of pulling off the intermediate side lugs.  I've had issues in the past with Dunlops pulling off the far outside side lugs, but I've never encounted this issue in my life.  I wonder if the Stark makes so much torque is just ripping the tire apart?

I'm a junior class Vet rider in mostly loam/sandy terrain with the occasional hardpack.

Lastly, I'm able to charge both bikes at the same time with a $1,000 generator from Costco.  It will only produce about 16 total amps (on the bikes charge settings) at 220v, so they both can't charge at 10A at the same time.  The generator is showing output around 5.2KW @ 16A.  It shows 3kW with one bike @ 10A.

Conclusion: buy a red or grey one.

Put my first 100 minutes on mine today, riding deep sand. Had 50% battery after that, but I didn’t charge it today while there.

I was pretty skeptical going into this bike, but I must say it’s one of the funnest bikes I’ve ever rode. It’s so easy to clear jumps in the middle of the sections of single track that I never dreamt of before. It felt very comparable to my last yz250f as far as stability and comfort go.

edit: I still don’t like Pirelli tires in sand haha!

100 minutes in deep sand and only using 50% battery is probably a world record

Yeah, I guess with this range you're riding woods? No way you can get 3 h riding MX, and on a sand track! Tongue

Typically Pirelli in colder weather, after they moved the production from Brazil. It's not rubber, it's plastic tires now a day. If you get some from Brazil, it's night and day difference.

Break easy. Going below 7-8 degree Celsius, it's not good. Get 3-4h on a front, maybe 5-10h on a rear. Better when Its hot.

Stark torque probably does not help. You will see tires marketed as EV friendly in the future.

I think the tyre degradation may have something to do with the delivery of the torque. Same issues with rapid tyre degradation on electric vehicles.

Anyone been behind one of these at a track? I got solidly roosted last weekend and it hits like a 500 2 stroke 🤣

Awesome to see it’s got through decent hours relatively unscathed too 👍🏻

It’s half woods, half moto. Talk to Bob Hannah about the place. He says it’s the hardest place he raced in the world. Keithsburg, IL, Sandy Oaks.

Yeah man just means the pace is quiet mellow. No decent mx rider can get 3 hours on a charge in those conditions. Just not possible.

It was a mix of mellow and good pace. I’d say 80/20. I’m a 30A guy to give you an idea of good pace for me. There isn’t a chance I’m racing this bike for a harescramble or something like an enduro with extended times, I’ll use one of my other bikes. But for 20 minute motos or GP races it will be a great bike at 30A speed. As well as play riding, honestly not a more fun bike out there for play riding. Every bike has its strengths and weaknesses whether it’s ICE or electric.

So are you also going to police the forum for every other topic that isn't in the correct sub forum, or do you just get off on the Stark threads?

Better go after everyone in the off road threads, the bike maintenance question threads, any thread with anything old school, any product reviews or questions, any bike builds etc. etc.

If you're gonna be an uptight whiner that demands everyone follow the rules to a T then be consistent.... or would you rather admit that your only a whiny little baby when it comes to the Stark?

Broski....just noticed there is a thread talking about an e-bike class at GNCC races in the moto section...the horror!  You got a double whammy there, better put on your forum police hat and get to work!

Cold weather has to be it.  I typically never ride much below 45 degrees.

However, I got the Stark late in the fall and wanted to ride so bad.  I rode a couple of time with snow flurries, maybe 30ish degrees.  I don't blame Pirelli for having a hard time standing up to 30 degree temps and massive torque.

It makes me laugh that MXA constantly complains about not getting their Stark.  Stark had issues with certain states government regulations (who doesn't have issues dealing with government bueracracy??).  Everyone else just driove a few hours to another state and picked one up.  MXA just loves to whine about it....

I live in BFE Idaho and see multiple Starks (other than my own) whenever I go to the local tracks.  Believe me, this is not Silicon Valley and they all seemed to get their Starks last fall.

Is MXA constantly complaining, or is @Magoofan the one constantly complaining.

Don't worry @Magoofan, Jody will recommend 1 more tooth on the rear sprocket, not understanding he can adjust torque from the phone!

God I hate defending magoo but I think mxa doesn’t have one because stark won’t give them a long term test bike.

if they really wanted one they could buy one obviously.

Maybe Stark realizes that 95% of the folks who give a shit what MXA has to say are old codgers like you who don't ride anyway?

Doesn't seem like a good use of resources to give a bike to a media outlet that doesn't speak to their ideal customer anyway does it?

You are dead wrong on this one, MXA still holds the crown as the gold standard on bike tests.

Cope however you must, but that is the truth.

Me along with the majority of Vital haven’t touched anything MXA in 5+ years. Their “test” aren’t even worth listening to because they are so swayed to sponsors. I stick with ML and Vital reviews for new bikes.

I agree, for the 60+ crowd they are still the gold standard.

For the 20-50 crowd that is still actively riding and buying bikes....95% of them don't give a shit what MXA has to say.

My buddy recently traded his 2022 gas gas 350mx in for a 2020 yz450f and he's having an electric conversion done to it....I almost had to stop talking to him for good until he reassured me he's gonna keep riding a gas powered bike on his yz125....I'm still slightly disappointed in him though 😂😂

One thing I'd like to see is some form of a clutch on the e-bikes. I know they don't need one but I feel like they'd be easier to control and modulate rather than having to use super precise throttle control. There are also benefits to having a clutch regarding things like acceleration bump absorption coming out of a corner because it reduces chain torque ....thats one example.

I'm sure the stark and other forthcoming e-bikes are great but "given my druthers" 😂😂😂 I'm staying on gas powered machines

Me along with the majority of Vital haven’t touched anything MXA in 5+ years. Their “test” aren’t even worth listening to because they are so swayed to sponsors. I stick with ML and Vital reviews for new bikes.

They call it like it is, some people can’t handle their preferred brand losing a shootout to a superior product. Sorry.

No, they say things with a level of conviction that sways a certain percentage of the population that is more on the gullible side, while the rest of us can pretty easily see through it.  There may have been a time when certain bikes were heavily flawed but that's not the case anymore, the nitpicking and exaggeration in bike tests has reached the point of absurdity.

I can summarize their review:

heavier than a ktm

mid stroke harshness

add a tooth to get more use out of third gear

No hydro clutch and no Belleville washer

You are dead wrong on this one, MXA still holds the crown as the gold standard on bike tests.    Cope however you must, but that...
