I have wondered the same.  I've never ridden a paddle tire in mud but I would think it would give you more forward momentum unless it builds up with mud, but I would think someone could make a self cleaning paddle of some sort.  Are paddles legal in Supercross?

Dammit Jimmy Weinert...   https://motocrossactionmag.com/forgotten-motocross-tech-the-secret-weapon-that-won-a-supercross-and-got-banned/

Also wearing an early Leatt prototype.  Jimmy was ahead of his time .

Nope they are not legal. Jimmy W used one back in the day and ran away with the race. It was outlawed soon after.

Wow, you're old like me.  I bet most of the people here have no idea what that is (except the 18 thumbs up).

I'm 58, every time I see mud I sing that line but I can't remember what it's from, I musta been 10 when it happened.

I'll be 39 this Saturday... So not ancient just yet. I first heard it in elementary school, but it's from the 60s (just looked it up again).

Local news here in Southern California says 60% chance of rain on Saturday night. I sure hope they are wrong and we don’t have another mudder this weekend.

I'm bringing panchos just in case. We're making a day of it. If it rains I guess were going to get wet. It's ok we're waterproof. Laughing

SD has had good luck dodging the downpours in the past. I've been to at least two there where it looked like it was gonna be really bad. But the deluge held off for the racing ... and then it let loose as we were driving home.

Wtf do you think they used in San Fran?? Everyone was on a paddle tire in San Fran. Where have you been?

You sure you are not getting 'scoop' and 'paddle' mixed?

I'd give my left nut for a dry race this weekend.

Well, the chances of rain are gone for now.  There was a significant chance of heavy rain in the forecast for late Saturday night after the race but that is gone for now and the forecast is looking good.  This can all change again in the next couple days, but we're looking good.

With that said, we'll likely be back to the Jett show.

The models can be fairly accurate 7 days out in some areas.  Anything can happen and I'm not claiming it's going to rain yet but there was no rain forecasted for SD a few days ago and now there is.  We won't know of course until we get closer.

This post ended up being accurate and he posted it the Sunday before:

It's been mentioned/played/parodied on Simpsons and Family Guy so that probably spreads the knowledge a little... That's the only place I've ever heard of it 😂

As for paddle tyres, jeez, they'd make their way down to the plywood pretty quickly running those 😂

Also, no mudder thank you!

Current outlook is for about 0.2" of rain so hopefully it won't be too bad. On Sunday it looks like they'll get absolutely hammered with 1.25".
