yep luv me some dazzy as he is  a straight talker    Smile     but trashing the previous rider(s) not a great look i'm afraid?

Lars may be having a chat to him at some stage to highlight current WOKE culture forbids any such behaviors........Whistling

Could only assume he was referring to the SX bike setup only as the bikes have looked great outdoors in recent years (save chase's front end tucks ...........which arn't necessarily the bike????)....

I guess no one told him that the previous pilot won the SX championship on a bike that "wasn't set up". And no, Keefer's setup opinions don't carry much weight with me, as he's not out there running top 5 in a SX race.

We’ll have to agree to disagree.

I have absolutely no understanding of how anyone doesn’t get that their dad is a part of all of this.

And I’ll dive in a bit deeper: I’m actually appreciative of his commentary and the fact that he hasn’t forgotten the absolutely stupid shit he heard and saw as his kid dominated “The Outdoors”. Again, DOMINATED whilst the fools on parade spoke and wrote ridiculously stupid shit.

I’ll let you in on my suspicions regarding last-night…

I suspect that dad was “letting a little steam off” after an unbelievably STRESSFUL WEEK & a night of racing that was BOTH “the best” and “the worst” for his family. Also, I wouldn’t be astonished if dad had some of the victory champagne or maybe even…dare I say…a victory pint. If so, more power to him.

Here’s what I really don’t get: when did we all become such pearl clutching whiners?  From the “Boycott MCR” to “Anderson took Cooper out” to “The announcers are the worst”…

WTactualF?

It’s RACING and I’m stoked to see a racing dad just letting loose.

I don’t know who is claiming Anderson took cooper out and to boycott MCR but I do know that the handful of clowns on the internet do not represent most people. They’re an extremely small amount of people and you can find anyone to have a hot take if you really want to. I think we’ve all got to stop lumping the extremist in with the average person fueling this “it’s us against them” mentality that has taken hold of so much of today.

Why do parents feel the need to get involved? Let your kids racing do the talking, Jett is most likely going to break records, no need for interviews like this, IMO

I'm old enough to remember when John Kocinski was muzzled by his team. Was in his contract that he could not speak to press without a team official present. He was a multi time AMA 250 road racing champion at that time. Papa Lawrence should dial it back a bit before Lars gets a call from Japan. His sons are adults. Therefore, his presence is not required in the pits.

Over this last year of racing, I recall PLENTY of commentary where-by PLENTY of arm-chair racers were saying…

He didn’t have to race against Tomac…etc.

The field is depleted.

Wait until he has to race all the fast guys in SX.

Well, here we are: he raced against the ENTIRE FIELD of SX racers. He smoked’em. And then he had a donut…Laughing

Therefore, after all the nay-saying and all the what-ifs…his pops is right.

I’m stoked for him. At the same time, and just like Johnny O is gonna tell him,”Great race. Congrats! Let’s get to work. It’s a long season.”

A1 2024 is in the books. Now, everyone’s shaken off the cob-webs, gotten over the A1 nerves…and knows what they’ve got to do.

This season is gonna be awesome.

Pointing out that Chase (for part of the season) and Eli weren’t there is just a matter of fact. Thinking that is saying the kid isn’t great is ridiculous. It comes across as being very insecure. Like Grape said, a pro athlete’s dad really needs to lay off social media if he’s getting affect by some random people in a Facebook comment section.

I wish we could get more interviews with complete honesty like that.
Even if it’s a point of view you don’t agree with, I’ll take candid thoughts over politically correct diplomatic drivel all day long.

"The previous pilots that were on this bike didn't dial it in at all." Sick

I'm gonna pray motogod to see you come back down to earth a little bit because this statement is so contemptuous and arrogant that it starting to makes me want to see your son doing a Roczen 2017.

I understand Dads going to races with mini riders, but it seems strange at the pro level. This is a top level profession, NFL players, engineers, and doctors don't take Dad to work. All these Dads at the races seem like great fathers, loving family guys, care about their kids and all, but don't they have their own lives too? Love my kids too, but I am not going to work with them. Didn't Decoster say the best rider would be an orphan?

How did the Jett fanboys get this narrative that people are saying he isn’t great??

I see it here mostly.  People may not be coming right out and saying that exactly, but they sure make lots of excuses and downplay what he's accomplishing.

This happens all the time. And yet, the guy proves every single doubter wrong everytime he has the chance to do so. Like, i get it if there is an insane amount of hype and rider X that gets the hype doesn't live up to it. But that could not be further from the case with Jett.

I'm not a Jett nuthugger and the most obnoxious Jett fans are very annoying. But so are the miserable contrarians that downplay his achievements and constantly try to find angles to belittle his results.

If they want to shadow box anonymous people in the comment section for motivation, let 'em I suppose. It seems to be working! But at some point they should probably stop pushing the "we're just trying to prove the haters wrong" angle when Jett is quickly becoming the most popular rider in the sport and has clearly more support than hate. You're never not going to have shit heads in the comments popping off with dumbass takes. Imagine after one of Tomac's wins and John Tomac goes "I would just like to say fuck you to all the haterz".

It's certainly an angle you can have but at some point you gotta stop playing the underdog card when you clearly aren't. That's when it starts to become an eyeroll. Dude just went undefeated and you're sweating some random guy online saying "he's not that good" C'mon...

It’s boring when everybody is the same. The sport would be cooked if everyone had the same demeanour as the Tomacs. I hope Daz never stops talking about the haters and how nobody believed in his son

Good interview!

Kind of harsh of him to say , paraphrasing a bit, that "the previous pilots didn't sort the bike out and they had to start from zero" I assume the previous pilots would be Ken, Chase and test rider Canard.

Interesting what he had to say about Harry Everts and learning from Johnny O

Funny that he said Jett on paper is dumb as rocks Laughing

The question though, is he wrong? Go back to Keefer and Matthes getting to ride the HRC bikes. They said Chase's bike was hard to ride and would punish mistakes. Keefer claimed Jett's bike was the best factory bike he's ever ridden.

Exactly!

Their setups were totally different, i dont think Dazzy said that Chase and Kenny did not develop the bike properly, it´s just their setup is totally different from what the Lawrences like

True, but apparently he is very involved in their program and even the bike development.  If you listen to interviews with Lars, he is very open about Dad's role and how critical it is for the whole team in fact.

I disagree with his approach to this interview, but definitely love he says what he feels and we need more of this from riders and teams.  This place talks about "robots" and how everyone is scared to say anything "real", then someone does like this or Deegan etc and then it becomes "they should keep their mouth shut and how dare they say anything they actually believe".

Some of you weren’t around during MC-dominance in SX…but it was kind of the same deal. I’m a McGrath fan…but a lot of people got really tired of having him being put on a pedestal all the time too.

Shitting on the development rider(s), the team, the reigning SX champ, the bike and setup that was used to win that championship for the team his sons ride for in one sentence isn't verbal diarrhea? Come on...

It would have been enough to say the previous setup didn't work for Jett and they had to develop a setup from scratch. Happens all the time in MX/SX.

Read the 3 page thread before watching - I expected something entirely different from the video but what I saw was a proud dad coming down off a load of adrenaline after weeks of hype and anticipation in America.

I believe they are prepared for being on top for many years, good and bad.  Slough off the bad, enjoy the good.

When you're number one the idiots come out.

While listening I kept thinking and singing in my head " Watch me wallabies' feed mate, watch me wallabies feed, They're a dangerous breed mate, so watch me wallabies feed."

Yes, but you probably wouldn't be involved in making the racers, or the bikes perform at a whole new level. It was just one interview as he was leaving A1. Does Sextons dad even know how to set up a bike? Or is he just there to watch the races?
