Guys I am just here for the Ducati signing ... Honeslty, if they want to be upfront immediately, who else is available who can also be actually picky enough to contribute to the development of the AMA program ? We all know it is mostly the rider, look at Kenny Smile , Thanks !, that is still an incredible sport, not F1. If so the bike will be sick, remember star in 17/18 where they were searching, who got the 250/450 dialed in ? Some call it whining, some call it whatever it takes to win until it does. When you put 10 if not 50 mill in a program it is not to be top 10 or go play pokemon, I hope so or someone needs to resign, a big fish who also has a solid loyalty has to take the risk to sign with a new program too. It can look incredibly cool. Just the name and history look cool so that could be the missed opportunity Triumph didn't take to make a real nice splash here. All in ! History in the making Smile

DV went prepping his kid for NCAA D3 basketball, while DF was hurt. To me it always looked like DV didn't stay in touch with his rider, (his boss in some way) to hear how his health and rehabilitation was going, if making schedules was already possible or not...

I know DV is very popular here but he threw Pourcel under the bus too, because MotoConcepts was DV his employer. But little later everyone including him accepted that the YZ450 was rubbish because James Stewart and others started saying the same. Also DV and Cristian Craig didn't last long.

But to be honest it baffles me that French and Euro-riders always get labeled as crybabies, especially the ones who win championships. Because your own riders such as Webb and also Sexton weren't they saying the same about their bikes? The double moral in that kind of stories is a little sickening. If Dylan clicks with his future bike, he can fight for podiums in Supercross and win the championship in Motocross. Dylan is bye the way already 7 years in the USA and only rode for one team and that is Star Yamaha, probably because he is a real pain in the ass to work with...

Let’s get some stuff straight because you’re losing yourself.

1. I’m my own boss. If a MX coach acts like the rider is the boss, the relationship will last but the results won’t come. In any sport, the athletes aren’t the coaches’ boss. It’s the other way around, buddy

2. Pourcel threw himself under the bus (or shot himself in the foot) and not only at MotoConcepts. With the talent we had in 2011, Chiz, THahn & Cie, the results & the bike weren’t as bad as everyone thinks. Chiz was riding well until he snapped a chain in Houston and Tommy, when he wanted to race without worrying about everything else, rode good too.

3. It didn’t last with Christian because I never got to do what I wanted to do. I was only the riding coach and had no pull on anything else. I walked away because I wasn’t able to be a factor. Could’ve stayed, be buddy/buddy with everyone and cash the paychecks but it’s not my style.

4. Dylan is the only rider who followed my vison from A to Z. When we started working together I told him I’ll coach him for free for 3 months. If he followed the program to the T and if he thought it was working, after 3 months, we would sit down and work on a deal. My first deal with Dylan was $2500 a month and 5% of his Yamaha bonuses. He wanted to give me 10%, I told him half was enough. The last year was $5k a month + 5%. To put in perspective, some factory guys pay their coaches $200k+ a year plus bonuses.

5. As far as training my son during the summer when my rider is hurt, I think it’s ok when I know my rider is out for at least 8 weeks.

6. We’re in America and we have to be politically correct when it comes to the people who are signing the checks. It’s ok to be demanding about the equipment behind closed doors but it never works publicly. Americans are better at it than French people. We have a different culture and are not educated to be corporate friendly. Webb was critical and he and KTM split halfway thru the MX season which you hardly don’t see in our sport.

7. Dylan not finding a good ride in ‘24 is a cocktail of multiple things. First one is to have signed only one year at the end of 2022. He bet on himself to be able to find somewhere potentially better in 24 if he’d perform in 23 but obviously didn’t work. He only podiumed twice in 51 potential SX races. He didn’t race 51 SX due to injuries but to other teams it’s still 2 podiums in 3 seasons. Lastly, it’s budget and value. When you have 4 championships, 2 250SX, 1 250MX and 1 450MX, your value should be between a 450SX champion and a factory rider who never won a race. I wouldn’t race and risk my health for less than that especially when you have millions in the bank. We should respect that from a multi-time champion. Some past champions paid from their own pocket to race, like Reed for exemple, but we should respect champions who think it’s not worth signing a deal and racing for no money. Some do it, great. Some don’t, it should be fine too. Who are we to judge what they should do or earn?

8. Lastly, I’m really proud of what Dylan have accomplished in the US and it was cool to be part of it. It’s extremely difficult to move halfway across the world and perform in the toughest championships on the planet. Yes, I believe it’s tougher to be American champion in 450 SX or MX than in the GPs when you’re an European. Americans or the foreigners who are winning in the US, are tough to beat. Just like it’s tough to be World Champion when you’re American. Ask RV… So, what Dylan accomplished is pretty amazing.

Thanks DV for the amazing knowledges !

Yep.  Here's where it stands from what I could deciper....

Matthes says he's going to Phoenix Honda

Vitard #1 has a good source saying he's gonna be on a FC backed Kawi

Vitard #2 has a good source saying he's gonna be on HEP Suzuki

If I were a betting man....I'd bet on it being a Phoenix Honda with big support from Factory Connection.

If dylan wanted to race bad enough he would be out there, if he is set on his price tag. So be it.  This is where we are.

I don’t know his price tag, but half of Adam’s current contract is pretty low.

I'm seriously surprised Kawi couldn't make a deal happen. I'd give half of AC's salary to DF to get what he's probably asking for. All teams are really missing an opportunity with DF right now. I don't get it. Hopefully the Factory Connection Honda deal is a real thing and comes together in time for the Paris SX.

Would you take a pay cut if your employer hired a new person?

If it was a team sport where that person made us better as a whole, that's a different story.

But this is Moto, where we compete against everyone.

Adam has a signed contract where he is paid for his efforts, taking a pay-cut so they can hire his competition would be crazy.

1 contract probably, but when we add on everything (monster, gear, etc), they are far from the middle class. (Thanks to Monster etc btw)

That is why I think any top guy on a bad musical chair year should get rid of that ego and sign any incentive contract. We all root for underdogs anyway. 500k when you add everything or above is already fucking indecent in this world where 5 billion people have less than 500 bucks a month with zero wealth management thing. It is a sport of lucky people from day 1 so if you can take x amount, then take it Smile And if you are above that, then good for you.

Not directed at Kawi directly at all, but when you pay 10 or 20 people in the team and the rig is not even f. showing up at the nationals 30% of the time over a decade, you got to wonder, hey guys, I have an idea, why not taking 3 riders over these 31 racing series where half of the field get hurt anyway ??? You know, logic Smile We are typically in a world of communism, bureaucraty, etc. Lots of people hiding and not a lot of people on the grill. AH, no rider, that is a week end off Smile

Missing a couple things here big chief.

1. It's not just a job. You going to go risk your life for a small amount of money that you don't need?

2. There's ego, but there's also what they think of as respect. If you're a past champion, you don't want to be making what the mid pack guys are making if for nothing else out of principle.

It's difficult to choose a team, after having claimed the best bike in the AMA, I believe that no other bike will be up to it...

It was a new model and frankly i am convinced its as much about how the team works together that matters most. E.g. how well did they work to adapt. Dylan’s comments give some clues.

Seems like a no brainer to me that he would go to a phoenix honda after seeing what jett and chase could do on that bike. The yamaha was a little too heavy and wide still for dylan to properly finesse on an indoor track. The honda thing also makes sense because he wouldn't have to worry about kick starting a bike or fighting kenny for attention like he would at HEP

I can’t believe there are 6 pages of this. Who really cares? Frenchy with that dirty mop on his head isn’t ever going to win another 450 championship. He’s a 5-10 place guy on the best bike out there. Just let him go back to France in peace.
