So many, like my first hydraulic clutches in the 90s to even the hot shot carb upgrade, definitely loved the Recluse clutch. I put every single part from a Motocross Action build on the 2015 crf450 like all the Ride Engineer goodies and I also put in a Recluse auto clutch which was really cool and got some 2012 crf250 spring forks for it suggested by Kevin Windham that worked really well. Still the slowest 450 I ever had but was fun to build.
Worst was getting the works for my 98 cr250s motor from Pro Cicuit. It was already a killer motor in a try to kill you chassis.
Hands down vented number plates.

I'm not speaking for the dude, and I've no idea what he used, but in the past doing similar, but different application (still engines though), I've used Loctite A 330 and SF7388 aerosol activator, it sticks quickly and cures very solidly bonded, good for 120°c / 250°f too and good chemical resistance.
Some Poly stuff like Tigerseal are great too and stay a little flexible to cope with the vibes (vibration, not cool kid lingo).
FWYT, awesome job on the caliper mount, super clean and very cool.
Do these make the bike feel a ton different?
X Trig preload adjuster.
Much thanks!!!
I’ve seen many a broken DNA wheel at the track. Agreed…. Never buy.
You guys realize those things didn't really do anything right?
Devol bottoming cones on my 1995 YZ250 forks were amazing. Felt like bottoming on clouds. Crazy good.
let’s not forget new tires on any bike.
Breaking protocol a tad, but same gist ...
Best (top 10 mods labeled in priority order for me with #s) = #1 Scotts or GPR steering stabilizer setups (I like both, GPR = simplest/my fave for 2-strokes), #2 Rekluse RadiusCX clutch systems on 450Fs, #3 FasstCo Flexxbars (Jimmy Lewis got me hooked, said "Flexxbars are like a fork revalve" - he was right), #3 (tie) KYB A-kit suspensions, #3 (tie) Neken SFS clamps (like A-kit forks for me!), #4 Dirt Tricks' Ironman sprockets and DID ERVT x-ring chains, #4 (tie) PC Filter Skins, #5 Maxima oils (always see less wear with their products), #6 CoreMoto stainless steel brake lines, #7 Twin Air Powerflow billet air filer cages/mounts, #8 ARC Memlon levers are tough and fit me right, MotoSeat complete seats are amazing, Motostuff rotors have great feel and are light, TM Designworks slide-n-glide kits, XTrig ROCS clamps - so precise (but off-throttle headshake without steering stabilizer on my bikes)!
Worst = iCAT spark enhancer on my 2003 CRF450R. Made the bike so powerful and tiring it was miserable. The bike ran great before, but dang that iCat took it to another level - and I realize this type of "Roost Boost" product is typically not effective, but for some reason on this bike it was crazy transforming. Also had MAJOR issues with the original Rekluse clutch in my 2003 CRF450R. Install instructions were error-filled and I nearly destroyed my clutch system. Magnetic washers that install next to oil filters have been a debacle for me! They break in half and in the process introduce magnetic metal bits into the engine - that don't want to come out. Finally, I will NEVER run K&N filters of any kind again. I always would find fine dust coating the inside of the airbox after running it for just an hour.
Coolest = KYB A-kit suspension, MotoStuff V2 caliper (but I think I would call the Ride Engineering V2 caliper a tie in terms of performance currently), Rekluse RadiusCX clutch assembly --- elegant design & function
Best ever: STIC Super X 38/40mm carb. Dramatic power increase from right off idle thru. extended top end. Like a perfectly ported big-bore kit, but with quicker rev's.
Coolest: '17 YZ250F front end on my '06 Chassis 200SX. Butta' with FC valving.
Worst: DIY attempt at the Amp Link on a 1980 250 Elsinore.
Never really thought about how amazing it is to have incredible suspension until I did. Totally different. Even more so the shock. Always wanted better forks but the control from a great shock is crazy.
And i could not believe the difference the Loudmouth filter setup made on a KTM350. Every smaller engine should get that mod.
TTR50 kill switch embedded in cross bar pad
It was like the best fork upgrade ever for me. Roots, rocks, trail junk were erased from my hands
Paul Thede's linkage shifter was a game changer for my '90 YZ125
I ran Flexx bars on my two stokes. But on the Beta four stoke, not as much room on the bars for all the switches, buttons and knobs. Seen that Ryan Sipes runs them (mako), so I guess ill try them. I like them. Differences? Not sure if they are better for motocross, but I will differently use them for off road riding.
Top line.
Pit Row
Beta comes stock with a thermostat. Samco has a hose kit that removes the thermostat and gives you a plug to clamp on the radiator outlet. I had the outlet cut off instead and had the outlet area welded up.
My newest FasstCo Flexxbars have more control room - so I think you'll be good with their latest generation.
XC Gear's MAKO 360 is very good for MX and offroad (I run these on 2 bikes for both applications), but there is some rotational movement in the bars that you'll need to get used to even with their stiffest elastomer.
If you're after total shock absorption capability with square edges and jumps, I think the Flexxbars are superior. If you're after overall vibration reduction and "sting reduction," the MAKO's 360-degrees of dampening is quite nice. FasstCo typically recommends AGAINST combining the two because the steering feel becomes vague, but I am about to try it anyway since I need to understand this for myself. Ping me in a few months for results if you'd like (I'm running A-kit forks, XTrig ROCS clamps, MAKO 360 mounts, Flexxbars, and steering stabilizer).
2006 YZ250F
Best: Crower cam and White Bros Exhaust
Worst: Yoshimura exhaust, engine couldn't breathe with the constricted headpipe
Coolest: KX250F 2013 Cosworth Hi-comp piston. Thing looked sick and made a big difference
Best: Learning to re-valve my own suspension.
Worst: Not jetting any bike
Coolest: 1st graphics kit
Was just going to post this up
did absolutely nothing, but came with some very cool stickers, which I think all these years later, I still have unstuck
I remember those. Didn't they mount/pivot at the SA pivot bolt?
Yeah there was basically two shifter arms, one attached to the SA pivot and the other attached to a linkage hanging off the main arm. I thought it looked ridiculous but it made that terrible transmission shift like butter. I found a pic of an earlier model, looks like a prototype but the finished product was basically the same.
Yep, that's what I was thinking of.
Thanks!
Didn’t someone get DQed for having that shifter on at Ponca race? Stock class.
I'm pretty sure I used it in the stock class at Loretta's but unfortunately I wasn't fast enough to be protested lol
Think in was in late 1980s?????
