Rider down hard at Perris yesterday

Tough to read. Removing part of the skull sounds horrible and probably causes a lot of strong emotions reading it but it is a good thing he’s at a place that can do this.  (Google Scotty Cranmer who also had part of his temporarily removed during his TBI). Another thing, doctors speak in a way to prepare people for the worst outcomes, not the best. Not sure if it’s not wanting to be sued but they told Scotty he would never ride again and he is. Time will tell but it sounds like this rider has a great support system around him to help with his recovery journey.  I’m hoping and rooting for the man.

I thought the same, "Another thing, doctors speak in a way to prepare people for the worst outcomes, not the best" With that said there is hope and I really believe deep down that this lad will be ok.

Which is completely fucked when you understand how the mind and manifesting works, or what doctors like to call the placebo effect (which is truly what healers aught to be aiming for...an effective outcome with the least amount of intervention).

Really tough read tonight guys. I’m in tears sending this one out. I’m gutted for Michael and family…

Andrew please read below: This is Michael's brother, I am sending this to all his friends. Michael is still alive. When he hit his head he severely injured his brain. Bleeding in his brain caused swelling that is putting pressure in his skull. Over the past week the doctors have been using drugs to try to reduce the swelling. His condition is not improving. Today the doctors removed part of his skull to relieve the pressure. We are now waiting to see what will happen. If he survives his brain injuries are permanent. The next few weeks are going to be tough, so if we don't respond to texts or calls, know that we are not avoiding you on purpose.

As another poster mentioned Scotty Cranmer story is an inspiration! The human body can create miracles when given time nothing but positive thoughts for Michael and his family in this terrible time!

With a brain injury there is a possible increase in intracranial pressure (icp) with the trauma. To relieve this part of the skull can be removed until pressure goes down and the part of the skull is then replaced.

I do therapy on a lady who had part of her skull removed and the physician opened up an area next to her stomach to preserve the part of the skull until pressure was down and then replaced the part of skull. Most recent procedure is to place part of skull in freezer to preserve until pressure goes down.

Sending positive thoughts to him and his family.

I have had friends with similar injuries that needed to have a piece of their skull removed temporally  , one is alive and well. The other is not. But the one who did not make it, was not showing any signs of brain activity very early after the crash. Some of the early reports had said he was responding .  Hoping that this guy is able to fully recover.  Like a few have already said, Dr.s  will often say what  the worst case may be , but there are many times when a more positive outcome happens.

Hoping that this guy is able to recover. It might be a multi year long recovery. He could use more positive energy and prays now to help sway the outcome.

God bless this young man and his family during this time.  You will be kept in my prayers.  And for those who feel this is down vote worthy, I pray for you as well.  And hope you are never in a life threatening situation where the only strategy left is hope, prayer and faith.Screenshot 12 0

All of us moto dudes are hardy bunch. Sort of like GB and US military. Brothers in arms!!!

So accurate. I've always been an antisocial person. It's gotten better but I had social anxiety pretty bad when I was younger. But when I'm at the track it just goes away. I'm always chatting up the guys parked next to me. The camaraderie between moto brothers is quite the strong bond

Same here man. I brought that up to a friend and was saying I'm just a little social butterfly at the track and he goes "well you're around your people"

Possi vibes. In high school my brother had back to back concussions a week apart and was unconscious for about 3 days in total. He had a “door” cut in his skull to relieve the pressure and has made a 100% recovery as this was 40 ish years ago. I am also very familiar with Scotty Cranmer and also Brett Banasiewicz, both bmx guys with severe TBI’s, and both have recovered to live a somewhat normal life.

Stay strong young man!

I also know someone who had a very serious TBI late last year. His forehead had to be removed to relieve the pressure. The piece has now been successfully put back on and his recovery is going great. Scotty Cranmer and Brett Banasiewicz are both huge inspirations.

No updates. I’ve been trying to give family space. I was texting everyday for an update but have now moved to once a week. I didn’t receive a response for almost 2 weeks. I know they are having a really difficult time right now so I understand. I’ll continue to keep you guys updated as I get them.

Thanks for your concerns

03D80193-F312-4D4D-AF9F-0029F2A6C3B8Michael is one tough guy! This past year he has got into hiking and peaked some local mountain tops. Including his latest one cactus to clouds which is a 20 mile hike. If anyone knows how to push himself physically and mentally its him 💪🏽

Please do. I think a lot of us have been watching this, and hoping he pulls through. It was a hard read from the start, a lot of prayers have been said for this fellow rider from many. Thanks for any updates.

Todays Update:

This is Michael's family. Michael continues to be slowly improve. He is out of the ICU and has been moved to a long term hospital. He can open his eyes and moves his right hand. Other than that he still doesn't speak or move around. His doctors say he can have visitors. Please text us if you would like more info about visiting him.

Great news! The longest of journeys is best taken one step at a time.  He is conscious,  so thats a giant leap!

Update from family:

This is an update on Michael's condition. Michael has been moved back to the ICU, so visiting has been put on hold for now. We will text an update when he may see visitors.
