Haha does this have anything to do with the recent RC argument/back and forth?

I don't really know what to call it, argument isn't the right word... but it was weird and kind of amusing.

I get where they were both coming from.

As for running the 4, Brake Bracket did, why would anyone object to Chase running it? What am I missing?

I’ll miss the Jordan-inspired Alpinestars gear.

Pretty audacious of him to run Baggett's number.

23 is so much cooler than a single digit number. Love that Kenny never ran one other than the #1

Meh…He won the SX Championship and earned the right. I think a lot of us thought 23 worked for him…but, this is his career and his decision. There was a number 4 long before RC and there’s already been one after... RC is still a presence in the SX world and I think it’s a sign of respect when someone like Chase wants to run it. I felt the same way when Blake ran it and I remember RC telling me he told Blake something along the lines of…”Just make sure you make that number look good!” & RC said it with a smile.

If ANYONE was gonna have a number recognized as some sort of “SX Legacy”…? To me, that’s obviously MC and the number 2. Still, I feel that is number that has been well represented since MC’s day…who…btw…had the balls to ride a 125 in the 2 stroke race at Mammoth! Laughing

When RC was crushing it…he reminded me of the Grand National era back when…every now and then.  we’d have someone absolutely crush it in MX and SX…and they’d run that awesome Blue Plate with a Gold “1” on it…to that end…RC get’s “The Goat” recognition. Hell, I’d have RC and MC hand out the SMX plates…but, I digress.

Shame he never ran it on the Honda. I think seeing the 4 back out there is great.

“Tuck the front son” was the first thing that came to mind when I read the thread title haha.

But he can run whatever number he wants to. He earned it!

You guys think we should permanently retire certain riders numbers? Like the legends for example. Like 2,4,7, and 22. Mc, rc, stewart, and reed. And maybe when tomac retires we can retire the #3 and kinda like solidify their legacy in the sport? I can see why we wouldn't do that but it's kinda a cool thought

I don't think Sexton is going to change numbers, we'll see.

He's got 4 printing on stuff

It's time for him to step out of Jordan's shadow and create his own legacy lol

It's considered a lucky number maybe it can help him stay off the ground! He is going to need all the help he can get on that KTM!

No...only so many numbers to go around. How do you retire numbers that are being used?

Had they retired the 4 (and possibly the 2 for MC) I might have been okay with that, but until someone exceeds their accolades I wouldn't consider retiring a number.

Every now and then?… how many Grand National Champions do you think there were other than The Lil Professor?

What is the urgency on numbers for 24 all of sudden? Wait until October and it will all come out.

Interesting.  I was under the assumption that they could but not that it was mandatory. Guess I was wrong.

From a branding perspective and I was his agent, I would keep the 23..  I agree with others, it's either #1 or keep your branded number.

I liked the #23 and his Jordan themed gear. In MX i automatically associate the number 23 with Chase.

Be weird seeing him run the #4. I see that and think RC.

Me too, I thought they had the option to run the #1.
