Exactly. All of this plus it robbed the fans of a good race. Kenny said on pulp in his 15 years of racing he had never seen anybody do that, and for good reason lol, it was pointless. Just ride your friggin race.

Savatgy with TomAC?

Musquin with Dungey?

Bubba with Reed?

Can forgive the kid for not knowing there was a rule with all the above going on

It would be wise not to piss off the wrong people in Vegas. You could end up with an injury of some sort.

But that was totally different.  Bubba let Reed pass him because Bubba was BORED and wanted a challenge and Bubba re-passed him.

I remember one time I think it was Vegas I saw a teammate let another teammate by.  I don’t like it at all.

Freaking stupid warning. Piss ant ama and whoever else got butt hurt. Nobody bitched about Savatgy letting Eli go by for the million bucks.

Get over it you pansy asses. Jett did bad math. That's it.

I was waiting for this, and I thought they would penalize him for sure.  He should have been penalized as there's no gray area with this one.  He admitted to letting Ken by on purpose to swap positions and affect points.  Should be a guaranteed penalty but of course they didn't enforce the rules on Jett.  Had it been Anderson, he would have been DQ'd.

He let Ken past mistakenly thinking he would gain more points on Chase, how is that not trying to succeed in the Championship?

Jett would find him a Johnny Cochran that would make an arguement that Jett was trying to gain points over his main adversary by trying to cost him points, and that the game is chess, not checkers.

When there is a million bucks on the line a lawfirm would tie up the dispute into the 2025 season. Sexton would be racing next year's playoffs with an " *" and Jett with a "?".

And I for one, would hate to see the inaugural SMX title decided by a point penalty against a home schooled 20 year old with bad math skills over a move that really did not change anything except for roczen getting handed a moto win.

I agree. In Jett's mind he was doing his best to help himself succeed in the long run. I think the rule should be there to protect someone from sabotaging their own race in order to help a teammate. If roczen had gotten 4th the first moto, it would have legitimately been smart for Jett to let him by as 4-1 beats Chase's 2-3. I'd rather the strategy be out in the open rather than pretending to have a bike issue etc.

I wonder if this rule would apply in a situation where for rider 1 to win the championship, his competitor, rider 2, has to finish outside the top 10. Rider 1 pulls the holeshot but intentionally falls back so that he can bang bars with rider 2 hoping to cause a mistake that would cause rider 2 to finish outside the top 10.

In other words, if I remember correctly, slowing down like Tomac did so that he could try to disrupt Dungey's race.

Yes, that would apply if they clearly wave others by and then announce they did it intentionally on the podium and press conference.....because that is what Jett did.  He didn't just slow down.

Unfortunately the AMA takes into consideration WHO is breaking the rules and adjusts their penalty accordingly.  They don’t want to be the ones to cause Jett to lose the championship. He’s too popular and it would upset too many people.  If it was a privateer they would have the book thrown at them!   AMA rules enforcement is a joke.

This should open everyone's eyes...  Doubt we'll see that again.

Maybe not from him, but we'll see it again.

I remember that being said when it happened. They were going to pay Savatgy, then backed out for this reason.

Yes I did read the rule, 1.5.9.a...

image-20230921121318-1

Finishing first or second in the second moto, made no difference to Jett's finishing position for the Event, he won the event, he could not be penalized for 1.5.9.a.

1.5.9.b and c...

image-20230921121750-2

Jett did try to "deliberately manipulate" the outcome of the championship in his own favor, how many other riders who settle for anything other than a moto win, to win a championship, are penalized?

That’s funny. Hell, JB51 would call that funny! Laughing

On a side note, I get that no one likes to see a rider not giving it his all; but, I’ve got nonissue with what Jett did…especially if he was…doing that math…😂

What I don't get about the whole thing was the lack of humility in it all. All throughout his outdoor season he was nothing but humble and gave respect to the rest of the field, even if they might not have deserved it considering how badly they were being dominated.

Then he does this and it seems like the least humble thing he could have done in that situation, especially with what he said on the podium.

It's weird. And I have to imagine Kenny's tweets had something to do with it. I prefer the humble Jett who wins with pride.

Jett's a talented rider, but not good at math!

To be honest...even though I hang off Jetts sack like a buncha over ripe grapes...this shoulda been a penalty...not a warning.

Make a rule and enforce it.  I don't care how big or popular you are.  This type of thing is why the AMA has ALWAYS been considered the way it has.

Like others have said...he could a gamed the system by claiming bike problems (still uncool but whatever) but he STRAIGHT up said he let KRoc bye.

Flag on the play.Pinch
