Keefer posted on Twitter about seeing roczen tell a kid no when the kid didn’t ask politely for his goggles. I didn’t see this and can’t seem to find it on the replay. Anyone know what Keefer was talking about?

If not for the fence...some of the rabid folks would strip them naked.

Agreed.  Some of those little bastards have zero manners.  I’m glad Kenny told him no.

Shit, I wish I remembered who it was.  It was in the early 90's when one of the elite pro's was coming off the track and some kids (3 or 4) of them were hounding for goggles and jersey when they came off the track at High Point.  One of them even reached through the fence and grabbed his shoulder and pulled on his jersey.  He stripped down to bare chest right there by the fence, helmet, goggles, gloves, chest protector and jersey then told them if they learned some manners they would have a better chance and walked off with all of it.  I remember laughing my ass off as the 12-15 year old punks shook their heads and took it out on one another.  They didn't deserve shit and maybe this kid didn't either.

There were 3 Lil boys being rude as shit after 1st 450 qualifying I think it was. He was taking off with his scooter to the truck and they started yelling Kenny give me your goggles. They were buggy AP right before he's talking to techs with his helmet still on and going over suspension and there screaming at him then when he kept talking they started with the little kid name calling.

I remember my dumbass brother asking Michael Sleeter for his goggles one time. Michael was like "do you even know who I am?" and my brother goes "Yeah! Kelly Slater!" Needless to say, the privateer didn't give him his goggles. Grinning

Kids just asking for free shit don't automatically deserve it. Who cares if Roczen said no to some booger fingered kid asking for free shit?

See this a lot at even at much less popular Endurocross races. Kids yelling at the riders to give them their goggles. Just really rude kids. Can’t imagine how much big time MX guys get this.

Every once in awhile a kid will come over after the races and talk with respect and want nothing more than to talk to a racer or actually know who my son is. That kid usually walks away with a Jersey

Don’t blame Kenny at all.

Have you seen how many people walk by and ask for pretty much everything? Unfortunately not everyone is going to get something every time.

And why is this even news? Who cares. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Kenny and all riders athletes are all human beings, not a fucking toy to play with poke and prod.

If true Kenny taught the kid a lesson, you can't get everything you want.

Can you imagine the reaction if a kid asked Tom Brady for his Jersey or helmet as he left the field….why is it acceptable at MX races??

As a kid I was always too scared to ask for anything outside of an autograph.  The one time I asked, it was Erik Kehoe.  I always had pit passes at High Point and Steel City.  I had gone up right after the 2nd moto with a friend.  My friend had asked another racer for his jersey and it was tossed to him.  I asked Kehoe and he gave me a polite no...  but it crushed me inside because it took everything I had to ask for it.  Now, that said, I don't hold any negativity towards that incident or anything...  it really wasn't the right time to ask and it was my fault.  It did help prepare me for the numerous rejctions I'd receive later in life asking girls to prom.

The couple of jerseys I got (Mike Jones 87 USGP @ Steel City, RJ's last race at Steel City, and Steve Lamson Peak Honda @ High Point) I didn't actually ask for.  I just hung out by the box van and they tossed them to me when they took it off.

Someone stole one of Sextons jerseys that was hanging to dry right outside his RV

Excellent point. The few races a year that I attend and have pit passes, I usually hang out after for a while. No rush getting to the airport. I’m amazed at how aggressive these 8-12 year olds are trying to get anything and everything. Running from truck to truck with armfuls of plastics and gear. Good for Kenny!

i'm sure there was a video from last year where someone asked for a front number plate. The mechanic asked them what the name of the rider was and they didn't know. Sad.

I never asked for a rider’s autograph or gear… but I did score Hannah’s googles on the Saturday of the 87 MXDN…he threw them to me, after one of his practice sessions…he must have known I was a Suzuki rider… he could see the pain in my eyes😂

The worst is when they’re trying to tear down a bike after a race, no politeness at all.

A lot of guys are now taking the plastic off asap and putting in the truck.

Unadilla was always known for banner sharks and goggle seagulls, but it was always a '90's thing. Thats why you cant walk the track afterward anymore.

Charlotte was a race plastic fest. Walked past 5 or 6 kids could barely carry all of it they had collected

Good, Im honestly tired of seeing these kids with 0 manners acting like ppl owe them something. What better way to learn an important lesson about life than a rider telling em to GFY. Ask politely and most ppl will be glad to give you something, but yelling “give me your stuff!” is some rude bullcrap.

When I had my team, kids would walk into our area and grab plastic on the ground (like five feet from the mechanics) during tear-down. When you tell them no and to drop it, they go whiney and ask why they couldn't have it.

I thought I was going to go to jail during outdoors because I was very tempted to smack the shit out of some of them...

Eh media, caught him saying no once so let’s shed light on that. Maybe people should talk about the millions of nice things Kenny has probably done that he didn’t need to.

What was it a few years ago or so when they gave a crf 125f I believe ? to a kid . I can't remember what the promotion or contest was but Ken presented it to the kid and was smiling just as much as the kid was . He looked genuinely happy doing it . Even though I can't remember the specific promotion that image stuck with me . It was a cool moment .

The overall opinion here is that he was right in saying, NO.

NO, is a word far too under used in our society these days.

Are the outdoor pits worse for this? Another reason SX is better for the teams/riders?

Saw the same shit at Ironman. One kid had a pair of googles from a PC guy, a kawi front fender, looked like a honda/or maybe GG front fender?. Kind of lame IMO save some shit for other kids. I think its fine to give the shit away but some of the kids dont really care they just want to say they have it or try to pawn it off lol. Esp the jerseys and pants.
