...those kids do bigger jumps and harder obstacles on the practice track...
Hopefully the Vital dad whose kid got 5th will opine! Someone tell him to get on here and inform us now!
The trouble is throwing them into the spotlight on the biggest stage without any lead in.
For decades Aussie SX, which is minuscule compared to the US, had an 80cc class. Just about every Aussie who’s previously raced AMA came through that system.
Pleased to say that concept has just been reintroduced as the CR22 cup, for obvious reasons.
But you take the country’s best teenagers without much relative experience, add in the pressure and adrenaline of performing on a world stage and shit’s bound to go sideways.
Lot of potential downside to having kids do these races. Essentially no upside. Find something else to fill the time with.

How many parents looked at their kids after that and said THAT's why I won't let you race MX!
Raced 3 amateur Sx races in the 80s, the day after the pros.
LA Coliseum, Anaheim and San Diego Jack Murphy....
Somehow I survived. Some of the greatest memories of my childhood.
I'm here and talked to a few of the mini riders. None of them felt the track was very hard or over their skill level. The issue with the casing the shit out of the finish line was due to the take off and landing being soft and taking a bit more speed then they thought they needed amd then also soaking it up when they landed making everything seem worse. Sumperminis was a great race!
Logan rode great tonight. I am really proud of how he ended his Supermini days. I don’t know Richards condition but did see their motorhome had already left shortly after the Supermini main. The track was tricky but it wasn’t crazy technical. The Superminis made most jumps other than the finish with ease. We were actually hoping for more rhythm sections to separate the technical riders. With that said, Logan only rode 3 times since Loretta’s so he was a little off and on top of that was recovering from a nasty cold he had last week, so this was a solid result.
It wasn't the size of the jumps, it was the approach to it not being ideal for a super mini when the dirt was a little sloppy and severely rutted with acceleration bumps. They could have done some prep work in a few of those sections where the jump approaches were sketchy. The super minis couldn't get the drive going into the jumps and the bikes don't have the torque the thumpers have (or displacement). To me that was correctable by the event people / dirt guys. Hindsight....The size of the jumps was no different than what these kids hit every time they get on the track.
Wasn’t Richards the one they said had a race on Sunday for XC in West Virginia?
Yea. tbh the 65s got through the more SX track last week safer the the superminis on the more MX track this week.
Wasn’t it just the other day you guys were saying these kids were too old to still be on superminis, implying it should be even younger riders on these tracks? Which is it?
Yes, which obviously isnt happening now. Hoping he's ok.
From my view the roller right before the takeoff could have been removed and eliminated most of the carnage. That loss of acceleration really made a difference on thise who came up short.
I said in another thread having kids racing alongside the professional show is not a good idea. Aside from this safety issue it acts as an inflationary tool to drive up prices and costs for amateur/junior competition which is certainly not good. People seem to lose their rational sense when it comes to this kind of thing.
No f’ing way!
Glad the young lad is ok, he’s a tough one for sure.
Kid was out cold 12hrs ago. This is not something we should be applauding

New IG story update from Canyon Richards. 👍
Every crash is a lesson. The only kids I saw coming up short had taken the inside line in the corner. They made a mistake trying to take a line that didn’t work and hopefully learned that backing out is better than coming up short.
Hope they’re all okay. That Richards kid is a tough nut for racing today
How do you know he was out cold?
I am very happy to see he is ok! I stand by my original post and comments about this kind of racing being unnecessary.

LMAO. This is the result of over-protective parenting.
No, it's the result of having a dumb opinion that the overwhelming majority of sensible people disagree with.
That Wolf kid from Wi. Finished 7th. Not sure why mini bikes r racing a track with big gaps. It should be a 125 class. Bigger wheels more power to clear jumps. And the crowd would get a pick me up. From the Awesome sound. America has no shortage of fast 125 riders that could clear all the jumps doing creative body english.
No, it's the result of you being an attention-whoring troll. It gets old.
Some of you all act like these kids have never crashed that hard before. If they would have all been crashing constantly then yeah no business being out there.
I'm sure the kids who raced it have a different opinion. They probably had a blast and if they could, they'd do it again.
According to his IG he made it to WV and podiumed. Crazy kids.
